OK so there are many times that lunch time is on the run. I MUST stop getting fast food. It's no good for me. I don't really enjoy it. When I'm not zipping around I prefer to eat a salad for lunch but lets face it salad is not really 'on the go' food.
I'm bored with hard boiled eggs and chicken tender wraps.
Tell me what you eat on the go. Healthy preferably protein or veggies.
Thanks

I like hummus and crackers. Peanut butter and pretzels, are quick and easy. I also buy low sodium deli meat and make cheese and meat roll ups. I also love the bistro boxes at Starbucks if I am out and about instead of fast food. I had the fruit and cheese bistro box yesterday and it was yummy! It has 14 grams of protein. Its cost was about the same as an extra value meal at McDonalds. I have to eat a high protein diet due to my gastric sleeve, so I am always looking for ways to change it up.

My on the go lunch attempt to short circuit the fast food trips has been canned vegetable juices (V8 is my preference but there are others), the individual servings of cheese sticks (mozzarella and cheddar) small avocados (grocery store carries the small ones in a bag that is about 4 for $3.75) nuts, a baggie of sliced veggies like baby carrots, bell pepper strips, broccoli florets. I like sauted brussel sprouts. IMO, they keep fine overnight for lunch the next day. I make a big skillet for dinner, eat half and put the other half in a container the fridge over night then pack in an insulated lunch bag to take with me. By lunch they aren't cold any more and I'm fine with a room temp lunch.

I could have written your post. I also have salads several days of the week (with a protein) but either get sick of it or can't take the time to eat it (it is not uncommon For me to have to eat while driving due to my job). The other day I looked up "paleo lunch ideas" and got some good ideas on Pinterest. Some things I do eat that I suppose I could eat while driving are grilled chicken strips, leftover rotisserie chicken, nuts, popcorn, fruit, raw veggies. I also have tuna and cucumbers on two wasa high fiber crackers which is a good change.

Ok so I spent the afternoon ( besides cooking for the week ) looking around on the Internet for ideas and after clicking thru a cabillion freaking click thru healthy lunch slide shows it all either A what I'm eating already and freaking tired of or B I need to sit down with a fork or spoon to eat it or C it needs to be cooked which I can't do.
I feel like I wasted an afternoon, it shouldn't be so darn difficult ( or expensive )

I feel like I wasted an afternoon, it shouldn't be so darn difficult ( or expensive ) It isn't difficult. But it might mean changing when you eat so you have 10 minutes to pull into a parking lot, put the car in park and eat using utensils. More likely though you are still going through a mental process of "can't have" and are rebelling against the things you can have. You are still in the "its not fair" stage of changing the way you eat. Once you get past that you'll realize that reaching into your lunch bag and munching down on some mini bell peppers isn't any more difficult than reaching into a paper bag from Md's and munching on fries. Or a string cheese isn't any harder to eat than a burger. A can of v8 isn't more difficult to deal with than a soda.... you just have to be willing to give up the "fairness"

Celery sticks stuffed with peanut butter.
Sliced turkey or ham with cream cheese spread on it and then rolled up and held with a toothpick. Or use goat cheese. Or use alouette or other spiced cheese spread.
Take 2 hard boiled eggs, slice in half and scoop out yolks. Mix/mash yolks with 1 tablespoon of mayo and 1 tablespoon of mustard and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Put mashed filling back into the egg halves for deviled eggs for lunch.

My favorite on the go is sliced turkey and some cream cheese or a thin slice of swiss cheese, wrapped up or cut in small pieces that I can at on a Trisket like cracker.

Beef jerky.
Yes, I'm serious. No, I'm not talking about Slim Jims.
Beef jerky (or turkey or chicken or buffalo) is the perfect high-protein snack as long as you get the low-sodium variety. Target carries a good brand and Whole Foods has a good selection also.

My Costco has started carrying protein boxes similar to the SB boxes. I don't remember how much they are. I also get their Santa Fe salad, which is a green salad with chicken. They are 2 for $5.
I often do celery or cucumber with hummus or chicken salad, maybe a little bit of cheese, and some kind of fruit. There's a Whole Foods right across from my office, so I'll stop in about once a week to stock up for lunch. The prepared veggies are more costly than if I chopped them myself, but it makes for an easy lunch, and still more cost effective than eating out.

I am doing 5:2 and it has taught me that I am not going to starve/pass out/diet if I don't eat the second I get hungry. If I need to wait a little while that is fine. I also am trying to change my thoughts on what is a "meal". For Some reason a burger and fries seems like a meal while eating some raw veggies, yogurt, nuts, etc (things that I do eat as snacks) doesn't seem like I ate a "meal". Or even having a protein shake or bar. It is hard to change that mindset but I think it makes it so much easier for me to eat healthy if I can think of it as fueling my body rather than having a meal, if that makes sense.

I'm getting bored with same lunch foods, too. Its hard getting all of the protein in during the day and keeping carbs down. I've been eating a Flatout wrap with deli chicken/turkey and cheese, along with carrots or cucumbers. Some days, I just can't do any meat so I have cottage cheese, fresh fruit, and homemade granola. I need something new!

Does no one realize that boredom with food could be a good thing? You aren't going to over eat food that bores you. Food shouldn't be our entertainment and that is exactly what "yummy" food is...entertaining.
If you like salads well enough make it in a mason jar. Stick it in an insulated lunch bag with a couple of cold packs. I make tea in a mason jar and freeze. Use it for a cold pack. Pull over in a parking lot and take 15-30 minutes to eat. If you absolutely can't do that then eat it at stop lights. But you are human and you really really DESERVE some time to eat. It may mean eating at 11 or at 1:30 instead of right at noon.
To be successful at weight loss there must be a major shift of mindset. Food is for fuel, not for entertainment. There fore boring foods are fine. You DESERVE time to properly fuel your body's system.. take it!

I pack the same lunch everyday and just mix up the exact items a little. I take a Greek yogurt, a piece of fruit, string cheese or a cheddar stick, and a Kind bar. The flavor of yogurt varies, the fruit varies, and the flavor of Kind bar is different, but it is a simple lunch to throw together. I don't have to eat it all at once.

yoghurt - if you can't manage a cup/spoon, then try those squeezable ones for kids
cheese - cheese sticks, string cheese, cheese slices with crackers, cheese cubes, Babybell or Laughing Cow Cheese wedges - mix it up, try different flavours
hummus - I like it with veggies (cucumbers, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, peapods are my go-tos but celery, peppers, radishes, etc...work too if you like them (i don't))
nuts - all one kind or mixed or one of those Planters NUTrition packs or something similar
lunch meat - make rollups of meat/cheese or meat/cream cheese or meat/spreadable cheese - add veggies, add a lettuce leaf around the outside
eggs - hardboiled, egg salad (eat with a spoon/fork or put in a wrap), deviled eggs, what about Scotch eggs occasionally? I bake mine which makes them a wee bit healthier.

I get what you are saying, but honestly at the end of the week another salad or raw veggies (what I have usually been eating the earlier part of the week) sounds like the last thing I want to eat. I don't know about the OP, but I am in my car for work quite a bit. There is temptation all around--fast food, treats at the gas stations I have to stop at multiple times a day to go to the bathroom, etc. I agree that part of it is the mindset, but it is a lot harder to resist that temptation when I have something to eat that doesn't sound in the least bit good (not to mention the difficulties keeping things at the right temp, especially when it is warm out). Not that it is impossible to resist, but it does create a barrier. If you are in an office or a school, and have already brought your lunch and would need to go out to get something else (especially if you also have the social aspect of being able to eat lunch with coworkers), it is not as tempting as getting something when you are by yourself all day and driving right by the fast food or having to walk past the cookies when you go to the bathroom.

I do eat pretty healthy things but my portions are waaay too big. I can't eat any grains at all. NO Sugar - detox was hellacious but I'm glad now. It's only been six weeks and grapes and strawberries sometimes taste too sweet now. I would love to adopt a "food is only for fuel" mindset and eat that way at least 90% of the time. It's a goal...

Do you have a recipe? How long do they last in the fridge? Cauliflower Wraps: Pre-heat oven to 375F. -Chop cauliflower into chunks, removing stems. Take 2 cups of cauliflower and pulse in food processor until you get a texture finer than rice. -Steam cauliflower in microwave for 2 minutes. Stir and microwave 2 more minutes. -Place steamed cauliflower in dish towel and squeeze out as much water as you can. This is really hot, be careful you don't burn yourself! -Put cauliflower in bowl and add 1 egg. At this time you can add in any seasonings you like (taco, oregano, cinnamon, whatever). I prefer to make mine without seasonings. -Mix and separate into 3 balls. -Spread each ball out on a parchment lined baking sheet. They should each make about a taco-sized tortilla. -Bake at 375F for 8-10 minutes, flip each wrap, and then bake for another 5 minutes. -Keeps in freezer for 6 months. Just place in a pan over high heat to heat for serving.

Here's an idea: My husband's side job requires him driving all around Manhattan and Long Island in a work van delivering candy and chocolate for my Dad's company. I pack him (and sometimes, my kids!) Bento-inspired lunch boxes that he can eat on the go (I tried a salad once and he wasn't crazy about it. Too much effort. lol) I use a Rubbermaid LunchBlox container and silicone cupcake liners for the inside. I change it up all of the time but this was a recent one I posted on FB. We started eating "clean" together in January and he hasn't stopped for fast food since.
