I am back from my 3rd Annual Cousins Weekend, that i organize. I completed 85 pages as well as making 20 Dr. Seuss themed papers (since she couldn't find dr suess paper I "made" them for her) for my sister who recently adopted 5 kids and is trying to complete a scrapbook for each of them for their adoption party. I posted about a kit challenge i was putting togerher here: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/40994/finished-kits-cousins-weekend-photos?page=1&scrollTo=1074521 Everyone but one person completed the page kit challenge I made and that was because she was recovering from an extraction and not doing so well. Everyone received the same kit (made by me) and was supposed to use only those supplies and either create cards or a layout designed by them. all but one did a layout. Not everyone was paper crafters (in fact we had 4 non crafters) so they did great! The non crafters all donated their pages to my sister for her kid's books. I am attaching the photos to this post and the next four posts. me and my cousins. (I had shirts made) the card one cousin made the layout i made

Looks like it was an AWESOME weekend! So cool that you and your family members get together every year. Was it your idea to make this weekend a scrappers' retreat?

Wow! I'm really impressed with everyone's work, even the non-scrappers did a fabulous job. So glad you had fun! I want to marry off one of my single guy cousins to a scrapper. He's such a nice guy and I image a scrapper would be a good match. Lol! Then I could have a cousins scrapping weekend too

Looks like it was an AWESOME weekend! So cool that you and your family members get together every year. Was it your idea to make this weekend a scrappers' retreat? Yes grammadee I organize and host it every year. I had the t shirts made as their gifts this year. Last year I took a scrapbook I made for our grandma's 90th with letters I had all the aunts and uncles (she had 11 kids, two has passed away) write and a mix of new and old photos and I scanned the scrapbook using my large format scanner and had 8x8 copies made for everyone. Our weekend falls right around the anniversary of her death 5 years ago and her death was the reason I started having them. I noticed we weren't seeing each other as much. There are just under 85 (all of her kids had 5+ kids and then some had step kids from second marriages even- my mom supplied 13 kids) first cousins. We usually get between 11-13 to attend. This year a male cousin's daughter AND her adult daughter attended, so we had three generations. I try to plan one activity (page kits this year) and there are things you can earn tickets for doing all weekend. (Bribing me, first awake, bribing me, last awake, being nice to me, participating in activity, helping with meals, helping clean up, bribing me, lol) and then I made 12 or 13 gift baskets and you throw your tickets in for the gift baskets you hope to win and I draw on Sat night. It's so much fun! Especially seeing who can bribe me the best we eat in all but one meal, where we go out as a group.

Sounds like a great time. Thanks for sharing. I'm always amazed at how many pages you complete. Pre planned homemade page kits! It's my secret weapon. I also kitted pages for my sister (the one trying to make 5 books for her adoption party in a month) and she hasn't scrapped in years. I wanna say she completed between 20-30 pages. I also don't take breaks except to eat, sleep and potty lol. I have a fantastic ability of being able to scrap and visit. I do a lot of listening that way, too, rather than just talking about myself.

thank you so much for sharing the photos-- everyone did a great job with your page kits!! And it sounds like a fabulous time. The fact that you get together with so many of your relatives at all, the activities, the fact that you had three generations there this year-- all of it! It sounds like you do a LOT of work in putting it together, too! I also LOL'ed at 'bribery' being one of the ways people can earn tickets for the prizes-- haha!!
I'm definitely jealous of your ability to visit, talk, AND scrapbook, too; I'm lucky if I get 6-8 layouts done during a 3-day weekend.... haha!! Now I'm off to look at the pic of your stack of 85 layouts!

I'm so impressed that you have that many family members that scrapbook, that you can get them all together, that you all were so productive, all of the work you put into that scrap weekend, everything!
I love that photo of you all wearing the matching shirts you made too!

Where do you live? I'm not above setting him up for a date. He would probably kill me but it's for his own good Lol!!!!!!
