OK, I have a question for those who measure themselves (congrats, melissa !) I feel like my measuring myself wouldn't be very accurate, because I'm so squishy. Do I just lightly wrap the tape around myself? What about my belly? Relax it? suck it in? there's so much 'give' in my flesh, I don't have confidence that a measuring tape would really be a meaningful tool for me. I'm 1.1 pound away from being in the 170s. Lost 1.4 according to yesterday's weigh in. Just finishing off my quarterly/every couple months or so, yet still crime-scene heavy, period. 13 lbs total, and walking is much easier lately. I don't know if I'm fitter, or just carrying 13 fewer pounds is a factor. Or both. 50 minutes goes by quickly, whereas when I first started, I was desperately looking at the timer to stop at 30 minutes. And when I lapped the track (sometimes I'm lucky and the stadium nearby is available) I took a minute off my former 6 minutes, without trying very hard. I've also noticed at my faster pace or longer trek (or both), that I'm sorer afterward. I was lying in bed the other night with my ass and thighs just THROBBING. It's definitely motivating me to stretch (and take Aleve! ) Do you outside exercisers have a limit of hot or cold weather after which you move your workout indoors? The weather is a big motivator for me right now, with nice spring temps and whatnot. Last summer, I remember checking the temp and, if it was below 90 degrees at 9 pm, I'd walk outdoors. What's your criteria? ETA: another question: if you're using MyFitnessPal, why don't you share /make public your food diary? I love reading what other people eat! Mine is public, if you want to see. But I'm not very inspiring... just sayin'

sharlag, as far as temps and outdoor exercise--I will walk as low as 32 degrees and as warm as 80+ degrees. I walk at 6:45 a.m. or so everyday so I really don't have to worry about it being too warm. And for measuring, you don't want to pull the tape tight or "hold things in." And congrats on being so near your next goal.

But I'm not very inspiring... just sayin' Ok the measuring? I measure sometimes. LOL I found an old piece of paper from a couple of years ago with my measurements written on it. So I compared and while I'd lost several inches from my waist, my hip area didn't lose ANYTHING...but that's where I have a LOT of excess skin. Same with my arms. No loss of inches, just deflated skin. My calves have lost an inch. So for me personally, the measuring thing doesn't help much. And honestly, I don't really care about it. LOL I just want to see the results. As far as the exercising and it feeling easier...I totally get that!! On Monday night and tonight, I walked our local track with my BFF. Now I NEVER walk with her. She weighs about 40 lbs less than me and last time I walked with her, I about died because she walks so fast. This week? I'm setting the pace...I didn't even realize it until she was huffing and puffing (she doesn't really exercise regularly) and said my walking speed had improved greatly. For me for walking indoors vs outdoors...I don't really have much in the way of criterion. I don't care to walk in the rain or much below 25...and definitely not above 80 or 85. And while I LOVE walking outside in the spring temps, sometimes I avoid it because of the bugs. The mosquitoes and may flies get bad quickly. And I'd rather just walk on the treadmill and not deal with the bug bites. LOL MFP? I had my diary open for a long time and then I got weird about people seeing what I was eating. LOL Especially on the days where I've eaten 2000 calories of crap.

sharlag, just be consistent with measuring. I wouldn't pull tight or pull in because it is not accuracy. Because I am also measuring myself for clothing, if I pull too tight, the clothing will be too tight! I don't suck in my belly for that reason, though I have to say that those muscles are getting stronger and I can actually significantly suck in my belly nicely now. Sucking it in sort of shows you were you can get to. brandy327, the following the measurements is interesting. I think I may be making more progress there than with my weight. My waist is down a full 2 inches over 2 months. My hips have gone down more slowly at just 1 inch, but my hips are pretty much my smallest part size wise. My weight goes to my middle. Everything is else (forearm, wrist, neck) is down an inch but my chest is only down a 1/2 inch over that same period of time. I do have implants instead of breasts, so the actual breast size isn't going to change. It's just some skin and muscle over them, not much fat. I think my chest measurement is now more of a back fat measurement! LOL. Glad you kept this part of the conversation going. I looked and saw that it had been 3 weeks since I had measured myself so I re-measured this morning.

I did my 10k training program outdoors this past January thru March. I wasn't sure what to expect, but with warm layers, I was fine. There were only a couple of really extremely cold days where I opted to run on the treadmill instead. Rain doesn't bother me, with a baseball hat and rain jacket, I'm fine. (I have a pair of water resistant running shoes for the cold/rainy days.) On hot days, I wear a cool towel around my neck and run with water. As long as I'm prepared for the weather, I'm OK - it's just the thought of going out in the weather which is the challenge sometimes! As far as the exercising and it feeling easier...I totally get that!! On Monday night and tonight, I walked our local track with my BFF. Now I NEVER walk with her. She weighs about 40 lbs less than me and last time I walked with her, I about died because she walks so fast. This week?
