Thank you! The flight out went smoothly. Now I'm just anxiously awaiting tomorrow a.m. I'm not expecting to sleep well - LOL! My dog and my younger son appear to be sleeping fine according to dh: Thank you again for your kind words and wishes - they will help keep me calm. G-d willing, I will be back online Thursday. Good luck! Your son and dog photo is so cute - that should keep you in good spirits.

Thank you so much, shescrafty, for starting this thread - it has really helped me - you are so sweet to think of me. And thank you to everyone for all your well wishes. Please never underestimate how much it helps to read each one of your well-wishes, no matter how brief, it is simply the knowing that so many out there are thinking and supporting you. Thank you. The surgery went well - it only took a couple of hours this time. This was strabismus surgery on both of my eyes - they cut two muscles in each of them and put adjustable stitches in one. About an hour after I woke up, I went down to the clinic and they then adjusted the stitches in the one eye to get the best alignment they could. That part was pretty gross, so I won't go into detail. Anyhow, other than eyeballs that make it look like the devil has taken possession, a bit of pain and swelling, and feeling the knots of the sutures in one eye - kind of like you have something in your eye, but it isn't coming out - all is really good. My vision is so much better in terms of double vision and will continue to get better as my brain re-learns how to control and focus them in this new position. Michigan? There was a thread a couple months ago where you kept mis-matching flyover Midwestern states and their cities...and I, in turn, kept pedantically correcting you. So I feel it's kinda' my job to ask: are you SURE you're supposed to be in Michigan? (Hint: it's the state shaped like a hand.)
If you're in the right place: good luck. If not: quick, call Uber! This literally made me LOL! I did make it to the mitten shaped state. And everyone in the eye center had on Blue and Maize, so I had the correct university. My mom and I did take Uber to and from the hospital, however. She doesn't drive well in cities she doesn't know well, so Uber it was! I will be thinking about you and praying for you and your family--especially tomorrow morning. Everything will be ok--tell them in pre-op that you're nervous, and as soon as you talk to the anesthesiologists they can go ahead and give you a little something to relax up if possible. Are you at U or M? They are the best! There are a lot of great hospitals in Michigan--My heart surgery was at Henry Ford in Detroit, and I did a lot of physical therapy at Beaumont. You're in good hands, and the peas are praying for you. You'll be so happy to have this over with really soon. Yes, I was at U of M - the Kellogg Eye Center is one of the few places in the country - and the best - that has a clinic that specializes in Thyroid Eye Disease. They are amazing. And thanks to Dr. DelMonte who did yesterday's surgery - a wonderful man! They got me my Emend before giving me anything else - yay! - and then they did give me something right before they wheeled me in to help with the anxiety. I didn't even remember them putting the compression sleeves on my legs, so I must have gone out fairly quickly after getting into the OR.

hmm... I've been out of town and must have missed something.. I thought you already had eye surgery? Is this for the other eye maybe? ugh. Well I hope is goes GREAT and that you're back to your regular life as soon as possible. You didn't miss anything! I did have 2 eye surgeries in November. This was the next one to straighten things out. And then I'll have another couple to fix my lids in another few months. It is a long process. So, don't get thyroid eye disease if you can help it! I'll be back to NoVA and my regular life on Saturday! Thanks!
