I try to go thru my closets every time we move (which has been a lot in the past 8 years!). I've given bags and bags away to charity and have left out other things here for people to go thru and take for free. DH tried the selling route, but I want to get rid of it NOW. I vary between a size 4 and 8. I still have size 0, 1, 2 and 3. I got rid of anything double-digit.
I met a great girl who is my hairstylist/colorist. We became friends and I try to help her with her business. She's a sweet lil pretty girl who never complains about money and is always so positive! Turns out she's the SAME shoe size as I am (size 5), and she's a tiny thing--same height as I am too (5'). I decided that I'll never get back to my size 2. The lowest i've gotten to is a 4. Any lower than that makes me look sick. So......... as hard as it is for me, I'm weeding through my closet and giving her things later on, shoes included! She's so grateful and I'm happy it's going to someone who deserves it. I've held on to too much just because it's designer or I loved it..........
Does anyone else give their stuff to people they know, or do they give it to charity???

At the beginning of the year I got rid of a ton of stuff. And now my rule is if I buy something nee, I have to get rid of something else before it can go in my closet. It really makes me mindful of my purchases and helps me get rid of stuff I'm holding onto for no particular reason. I usually just donate to the goodwill because there is a donation drop off site at the end of my block.

Sometimes I will give it to someone I know, but usually I just donate it to a thrift store.

I give my son's clothes to my great nephew and I give my clothes to D.I. (thrift store). I don't want to tell my size to others or know other people's sizes.

My DD's clothes get passed down to a friend that has a two girls. She is always very appreciative of what we send her. The rest of our clothes I usually just send to a thrift store.

Usually if it's something nice/expensive, I'll give it to someone I know. Otherwise, we donate to a local charity.

Funny story about passing along clothes-- I used to give my 2 dds' clothes to a friend here in my town for her daughter. When her daughter outgrew them, friend would pass them on to one or two other people in town for their daughters. One of my coworkers just happens to be one of those people who friend passed my dd's clothes on to. Coworker is tiny. One day, coworker is wearing a sweater that used to be my dd's, then another day, she is wearing one of my dd's' old skirts. I finally had to say something and we both had a good laugh about it.

I got rid of entire closet full of work clothes in May. I was sure if I ever worked again it would be in jeans. I was hired for an office job in December and needed clothes again. Thankfully I only work two days a week in the office. Four pair of dress pants will last me two weeks. It is fun to buy new tops though.

I keep stuff in bags downstairs set aside for the orphanage. Whenever I get 3-4 bags full, I donate it.

I have a lot of girls on my team that are moms who are working their asses off trying to pay the bills. I tend to shop when I find good deals and set thing aside as well as cleaning out my closets and my friends/family clean theirs and hook me up. I'm going to set aside a team meeting shot and set up shop for them. They'll be able to put together an outfit or two to wear to work. It's so much fun, we drink champagne and have a fashion show. It was so fun last time...It actually helps me get rid of more stuff because they are so excited. We donate anything leftover to a job placement service that provides women's interview clothing.

I have been to clothing exchanges, they are fun, but can be hit and miss. Most of my stuff gets donated.

I don't give it to people I know but do donate it all. I weed through often and love to get rid of things. We also moved and my closet is so much smaller. I thought I was going to have a hard time with a small closet but I actually love it. It is so simple. We also have separate closets which we have never had and I love that!

I don't know many people the same size as me. I used to give stuff to my evil SIL, but she never appreciated it and just expected me to do it. (ooh, that's really cute--I can't wait for you to get tired of it)
I do have a friend who just gained some weight due to some new medication. I am currently going through my clothes and will send her a few things.
I normally just donate everything unless there's something really nice that would be worth consigning or selling online.
I have some nice heels I no longer wear.
I do have a few things to give to my mom--but she's a lot smaller than me. I lost a lot of weight when I was first sick with pancreatitis, and my mom likes her shirts really loose.

Love this idea! In terms of good quality work clothes, I've also donated to Dress for Success.
