I'm so glad you weren't seriously injured! This is happening more and more across the US, so please do report it to the city.

Wow, that is a big branch. This could have gone quite badly for you. I hope you don't have any major issues from it. A branch that big hitting your shoulder could have fractured your clavicle. Thankfully it didn't hit your head with the full impact. You know, It might be worth having an Xray of your shoulder just to make sure there is no fracture. I broke the tip of my clavicle bone in a fall, and I hurt, but I had no idea it was broken until they did the Xray.
(Fixed "collar bone" to clavicle after reading post from imsirius because I could not remember the name of the darned bone)

HOLY CRAP!! Today was your lucky day. (Because you're still alive.) Thank goodness. You did report it to the city and then saw a doctor, right? If not, DO IT. NOW.

Wow, that is scary! I'm so glad you're ok. The trees around here drop their branches like that when it gets really hot, like they're shedding a limb to preserve water for the rest of the tree.
I would definitely let the city know.

I'm so glad that you weren't seriously hurt!
I would get your shoulder checked out. You could have damage that would be easier fixed if it was found immediately.
I have a shoulder injury from when the cable of the lift that moved our jet ski on and off our dock snapped while I was pushing the jet ski off the dock into the water. The weight and hook at the end of the lift hit my shoulder as I feel off the dock with the jet ski and landed on top of it.
I was wearing a life jacket, so that helped blocked the impact. I still had issues with the shoulder. It was really bruised, and it's hard for me to hold my arm up for a while. I had to stop playing the violin because I couldn't hold my shoulder up.
When I move my arm up, I have to rotate the joint to "pop" it so when I move my arm up it doesn't get pinched.
My doctor wasn't any good (he was the husband of my dad's business partner, and he was really resentful and hiding an affair. He also didn't pay attention to my broken tailbone. It broke completely off and healed crooked. By the time my other doctors saw it, they said that surgery would cause more damage. They said that I couldn't have a vaginal delivery because the end of the tailbone is in the way. (not that it mattered because of my heart)
If you take pain meds, don't take aspirin. If you do have damage it could thin your blood and make it worse.
Get it checked out just in case.

I'm so glad you weren't hurt more than you were, but I agree with others.. you may not be showing all of the symptoms yet. Great that you have those photos and your friend can corroborate how she found you. Please contact all of the entities that need to know about this tomorrow. And (((HUGS)))) to you!

Sorry I wasn't clear. When I said to report it to the city, I meant to call the police. I would call the non-emergency number in the morning and ask whether you should report it to them or to the Parks & Rec department.
And I still think you should get checked out by a doctor. Tomorrow will still be okay to do it.

So glad you are okay! Hope the pain is manageable. I too would report it and get checked out medically.
The city must have insurance for things like this and you shouldn't be on the hook for medical expenses...not sure how these things work though.

That is scary crazy! I'm glad you're ok for the most part but like the peas say I would still get it checked out just to be sure you aren't more wounded.. sometimes it can be sore later etc. and that somebody else knows-the city or whoever.

Random accidents like that are so frightening. We take so many sensible precautions in life and then something like this comes out of the blue. I'm glad you weren't badly hurt.
A Huge branch fell out of an oak tree onto a car driving below in my town many years ago. The mother and daughter in the car were very badly injured and the car was totaled.

You are fortunate to have escaped serious injury. There have been some very seeious injuries and even deaths in Central Park with tree limbs coming down

You should go get an xray on your shoulder/neck. You could have a fractured clavicle and wouldn't necessarily know. I am so glad you are (somewhat) ok!!! That could have ended up so much worse. I also hope the city investigates and compensates you for your medical bills!

Whoa! Thank goodness you weren't seriously injured! Please report that ASAP. They need to inspect the trees before someone else gets injured.
