He slaps us if he's annoyed with us for getting in his space. This usually happens when we walk too close to him in the hall He also humps our blankets

Odd and very annoying. One of our cats likes nothing better than to get his paws on a roll of TP. He fights to death with the TP! We often come home to a house covered in shredded TP.

Ours have a couple odd things. First is they love plastic bags especially thinner ones from grocery stores. They lick up and bite it, sometimes eating a chunk which they then proceed to throw up. God forbid if you buy a shirt or something and leave it on the table in the bag, it could be ruined with a ton of tiny little holes.
The other thing is one of them loves to drink water out of her bowl by sticking her paw into it and then licking the water off her paw. Bizarre but so cute!

One of our cats likes to go up on our roof and sit on top of the chimney. The furnace vents there so it's nice and warm and she has a great view. She goes up using a tree but we keep a ladder next to the house so she can come down easily. The other cat will NOT leave DH alone while he is on the phone. As soon as he starts talking she is all over him. It has to be a real phone call. He tried just pretending to talk to someone on the phone and she ignores him then.

He will not eat unless he sees me stick my hand in the bag of food and grab a handful and put in his dish, even though there is already food in there. The food could be fresh from the same day and he still won't eat it until I get him some fresh stuff out of the bag.
He gets upset if he doesn't get enough lap time. He used to never be a lap cat, but in the last couple of years, probably because he is old, he will sit/sleep for hours on my lap if I let him.
He also waits for me to go to bed, and I can tell if he is getting anxious about wanting to go to bed, especially on weekends when I tend to stay up later than normal.

I have one who throws his whole body down in front of me if I am not going where he wants me to go. "STOP, MOM! STOP, NOW! YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!" Crazy cat. He pees in our bathroom sink. Thankfully, mine stopped this after he was fixed. Though, of all the weird places he peed, this was the easiest to clean up.

I'll be scrapbooking and she'll hop up on the table next to me and keep going to step over on to me in the chair. It's relentless but she only wants to sit there for maybe 5 minutes. It's easier to let her have her way. She trained me well. ha!

My older cat loves to lick photos! We've taken to calling her a filthy photo licker. She also like to climb to the highest point in the room, be it China cabinet or computer armoire, and sit up there and watch the entire room.
Our little cat likes to sit in the shower. While you are in it taking a shower!!! He is not afraid of water at all! But he's an odd little fellow, we found him in the engine of my car as a small kitten after I had driven to work on the freeway 20 miles to and from!

When he is mad at me for ANY reason-and it can be for something as simple as I looked at him wrong-he will pee in my shower. If I am gone for too long (as in long enough that he thinks he is going to starve) he will poo too. Drives me insane, but after hearing so many stories of mad cats peeing on beds, I guess I should be grateful that it is the shower.

My old cat Shadow did a lot of weird things. He used his paw to eat and drink. He liked to drink out of the faucet, which is common, but he would stick his head under the running water and get completely wet. He also attacked my laptop and ripped off some keys. I miss my fat boy. My tub mat hangs on a bar on the shower door. My cat Pewter has to pull it down every time she enters the bathroom. Sometimes she just walks in, pullls it down, and leaves.

She'll sit someplace with her nose right up against a wall or something and stay there for a while. FYI - This could be "head-pressing" and could be a sign of disease. Here's an article about it. purrfectlove.net/2015/03/know-the-difference-head-pressing/I hope it's just a kitty quirk and nothing serious!

Our cat Mia would beg for food at the table like a dog. I think she learned it from our Lab, Molly. She'd do it any time we were eating, but especially loved to beg when DH ate his oatmeal every morning. She and Molly would sit side by side, waiting for DH would be finished. When he was, he'd put the bowl on the floor for the dog, and Mia would get to lick the spoon.
I really miss having a cat.

My little kitty eats anything vegetative. I can't leave any veggies or fruits out. She will chew through the grocery bags for a bite of apple or tomato. I also can't have any fresh flowers or house plants.

Thank you for the article.

I have a "garbage cat" too. She eats literally any food and always has- her first home was behind a grocery store 18 years ago and I guess she never forgot. Since we got the new dog, she stays in our room...unless there is food. Then she comes out to take food (she does not beg, she walks right up and takes it!) and goes back.
I love my crazy old lady!

He has an obsession with the washer and dryer. He can be sleeping, but if he hears us open the doors, he comes barreling into the laundry room and jumps into the empty washer or dryer. He does not mind having wet clothes piled on top of him. He has to be forcibly removed. If the clothes are washing or drying, he jumps up on the rim surrounding the front loader glass and stares at the clothes spinning.

I currently have a cat who also likes to eat plastic bags or anything that's crinkly plastic. She doesn't usually actually get anything except maybe a tiny scrap of a plastic bag, but it's something we always have to watch out for. This cat has also taken to pretty much sitting on my face when I am in bed reading.
One of my other cats will steal lettuce if you have it rinsed and in the colander, or some salad left over in a bowl.
Cat #3 isn't especially weird but he will come up and bonk you like he wants to be petted, but the second you try to pet him, he runs away. He's very skittish, and I'm about the only one he'll ever hang out with for a long time. It's weird, because he's also the only one we got as a kitten.
The cat I had years ago was full of weirdnesses. Most of them were typical kitty things, like sitting under the bath faucet. However, she licked glass all the time. She also loved to lick condensation off of fast-food cups, with a distinct preference for cups from Wendy's. She would also eat anything - candy corn, oatmeal cookies, spaghetti...We didn't feed her this stuff, but if she found it on the floor, she'd go for it.

My cats love crinkly plastic as well, particularly if it is close to meal time.
One of my cats likes to snuggle by my armpit at bedtime. She will usually settle down there, knead for about five minutes (we really have to keep her claws trimmed or this can be extremely painful), then stay curled up there for another 15-20 minutes. At that point, she decides it's time to go to sleep and she will get up, walk down to the bottom of the bed near my feet, and sleep there the rest of the night. It's like she has a timer that goes off to tell her when to go to the foot of the bed.

My cat (that is no longer with us) used ot open doors with his claws if it wasn't latched all the way and he still tried on the latched doors. He also liked to go for a walk with us but not on a leash. He would follow us and if we stopped, he stopped, when we walked, he walked. When we went home so did he. I always thought he must have thought he was a dog. And he didn't bite my hair when he wanted attention like someone else's cat did but would knead my head with his paws until he got what he wanted. He was a pretty neat cat as far as cats go.

I have a house of cats so the quirks can be quite entertaining. Let's see... Aye-aye will flop over for belly rubs when you say her name. She acts more human/dog than cat. Frosty (we lost her as year at 14) anytime she'd walk past a corner she'd stop and tap her foot...the one closest to the wall. She did it her entire 14 years. Bubba is our old man, he's almost 15. He has to drink out of the faucet. We even have a water fountain and he turns his nose up to it...faucet only. Ce-ce hugs. Pick her up and she has to wrap her paws around your neck and buries her face. You can literally feel the hug as she gets tighter. It's really sweet. We have Oreo who is our stalker. She likes to sit where you only see her eyes and she stares then slowly moves out of sight when you spot her lol. I'm sure there's more but those are some of the quirks off the top of my head. Cats are so funny.

The cat little box is in the little 'room' under the stairs. It has a concrete floor. My cat has never once pooped in the litter box, always on the floor. And he doesn't bury his pee. I've tried to put lots or a little litter in the box and different kinds of litter. I guess he just doesn't like to get his paws dirty.

I have one 3YO neurotic cat and one 3 YO normal cat. Neurotic cat has two odd things she does. Every morning I take my coffee into the living room and enjoy it while cruising online on my iPad. Neurotic cat joins me, always on my left side, and kneads the hell out of the crook of my left arm. Then sucks on the fabric of my shirt for several minutes. Every dang morning. I was away for almost 5 weeks a couple of years ago and I hoped that habit had been broken while I was gone. But alas, she started right back up when I returned.
Neurotic cat also pulls her fur out of her tail and belly daily. I find lots of big gobs of fur around my house a couple of times a day. Grrr. Thankfully the doesn't break the skin. I've talked over both neurosis with her vet and have decided to live with them. She's a large, long haired kitty with a measly tail. Looks pretty goofy!
Normal cat is normal. Except she is more persistent than any cat I've ever had about playtime. We do a serious 45 minute session every day, with smaller ones at other times. If serious playtime has not occurred by about 1pm, she will paw at my leg incessantly, and also try to open the drawer that her favorite toys are kept in, often with success. She's a smart kitty!

We had an old cat named Tommy when I was a kid. When he wanted to come into the house he would jump up on the mailbox, which was right next to the front door, and roll the knob between his paws until the door popped open. He would also pee in the toilet. The cat we had when my daughter was little would tear into shreds any roll of toilet paper he could get his paws on. We had to hide the TP from him.

Mine has to sniff everything that comes into the house. He also has a weird thing about biting plastic bags. Not just any plastic bag. If there is a bag with the weight of like a freezer ziplock baggie around he can't control himself.
