My vent: people who break the law and get a ticket and then complain that the cop is an asshole for doing his job.

Dear nearly 16 yo DS-this isn't my first rodeo. Your sister got away with crap because I was a newbie to the teenager years. I am now a seasoned veteran, so you will not get away with half the crap she did. You are getting your license next month but I am seriously considering not adding you to insurance (might be required if they have access to a car whether with permission or not) and certainly not providing you a car if the attitude continues.

Why in the world are you at 19 gigs of data with 10 days left of the billing period? You have Wifi at home which means you are blowing through data while at school when you are supposed to be paying attention in class! No wonder your grades suck!
You were home virtually all weekend yet you wait until late Sunday night to BEGIN homework??? Then stay up until 3 a.m. and oversleep throwing off my day?? You can stop the eye roll when I talk to about picking up the slack some too.

UGH-he's supposed to be my easy kid and is starting attitude at the same age DD did. I already turned off his data on his phone for the rest of our billing period since he can't seem to control his usage. DH wants to lease him a cheap car instead of having him Ubering when I can't get to him for after school pick up but that will be over my dead body. Here kid, here's a car, you raised your grade from an F to a D. No way! He's capable of a B average, he just doesn't put in the effort, instead messing around with his Youtube channel.

There are 8 tickets - MIL & SO, FIL & XGF, Grampa, your DH, SIL & ?.
Who am I missing for ticket #8?

My employer offers several significant scholarships each year to high school seniors. I'm the Chair and we have specific requirements that are not particularly difficult to comply with (i.e., copy of your transcript, three letters of recommendation, etc.).

Every year I toss a handful of applications out because they are incomplete, even though the letter that goes to the schools states that incomplete applications will not be considered. It makes me feel bad that an otherwise deserving student doesn't have a chance at a nice scholarship because he/she (or someone else?) didn't take the time to make sure that all required documents were included. Details, students, pay attention to details!

And, I don't care about your kid's game...tell me about your project!

Wow, 19 gigs is impressive. I took away my daughter's data when she went over and "had no idea" how it could have happened. It took her a couple of months to magically remember.

My vent: why is it so hard to declutter and clean? I feel like Sisyphus.

I love how easy it is to turn it off. He actually told me he was impressed that I did it because I never follow through on parenting threats. Ok kid, glad you like it! Ha ha!

My vent is I'm tired. I'm a single parent whose ex has little to do with the kids. He pops and sees them once a month for dinner (separately). Max. He's very nice, but he is not a parent. I'm worried about one of my college kids this summer and I said it to him (I'm trying to be nice and share) and he looks at me completely puzzled and says "Why are you thinking about the summer? Just worry about the now." Sigh. Why am I thinking ahead? Because I am a parent and that's what parents do. 

I realize that you were a cheating ass husband but always thought you were a relatively decent father, as long as there was not too much effort required on your part.
So you skipped her high school graduation gift because of whatever reason and promised her when she moved into her own place, you'd get her a washer/dryer. The condo she rents from me already had one so that was one item off your list, but you never made any effort to ever get her any grad gift. fine. But apparently now that she has passed her 21st birthday, she no longer is eligible for a birthday present or Christmas present from you. I understand you have a nice little replacement family but she is doing so well and being responsible--just a birthday or Christmas card from you would mean so much to her. She will not say a word to you, of course, and I cannot say a word, either, but man, you turned out to be a loser across the board.

I realize I'm only a guest in your home. I know that you and your dog live here and I don't. However, you couldn't remove the masses of dog hair from..well everything..before inviting people into your home? You invited us, we didn't just drop by. Really. You couldn't take 5 little minutes and clean off a single seat? Please understand I enjoy your company but yeah I won't be returning to your house of hair ummm I mean your home.
