Dogs. Love them and always have.
I am not a fan of cats. But, for some reason, when I'm visiting someone who has cats, they get all chummy with me, even the cats who supposedly hide whenever there are guests in the house. Those cats will climb right up on my lap and start purring. Weirdos.

Cat person, but we have a dog. To be fair, we had both a cat and a dog and the poor cat was eaten by a coyote. It was right about the same time we decided not to get any more pets. So, the cat has not been replaced.

I am a fan of both. However for my lifestyle, cats are it. I have two. I love other people's dogs though, and also volunteer at out city animal shelter.

Dog
I like cats ok, but don't want any. DH is also allergic, so that wouldn't happen, anyway.

We have both and I love both. But if I could only have one pet, I'd probably choose a cat.

I love animals very much, but having been raised w/cats I'm a cat person. I cannot imagine living in a home w/a kitty. Currently, we have 2 kitties and I'm over the moon in love w/both of them. So, cute and twice the cuddles.
If I was able to care for a dog then I would have one. Cats are low maintenance. Keep the food bowl filled, the litter box clean and kitty is happy.

dog person here. I do love cats but I could never have a outside cat so my cats would be always inside and I don't like cat litter or anything to do with cat litter so there for I don't have cats.
I don't like to scoop dog poop either.
The thing that makes me like dogs more is the fact dogs are easier to take with me.

I love both. I'd love to have a lazy cat around, but my DH is sooo allergic. We have a dog and adore him! We had to put our 18 year old sweet baby girl to sleep last November and I just can't get another dog yet.

I was a horse person as a kid. Then I had cats so I thought I was a cat person. Now we have three dogs and one cat and it feels like I'm more of a dog person. But that could be because my cat can be a jerk and the dogs actually listen and are happy to see us!
Well trained dogs are so much nicer then kitties with attitudes!

I used to be a cat person, but we decided after we lost our last cat to not have any more. We brought home a dog in December and I really enjoy having a dog. It's been almost 28 years since I've lived with a dog.
I was very selective about the breed I wanted. I don't think I'd want just any type of dog.

If it is furry and will let me pet it, I love it. We had a really friendly cat that loved people and was such a good pet, but I like lots of interaction with my pets. I enjoy going for walks. We also have a boat and jet skis. My corgi will jet ski, tube, paddle board, whatever. He just wants to be with us. Plus he chases the squirrels off the deck and is a good chick magnet for my boys.

I am definitely a dog person. Funny, as a child I was terrified of dogs. Like clawed my way up my dad's body to get away from dogs. One day, a friend of my dad's said his neighbor was looking to re-home her dog. From the second our eyes met, I was hooked on that stupid dog. Now I cannot imagine my life without a dog.
I've had a cat but they are just not my cup of tea. I hated it when that cat woke me up at night or first thing in the morning sitting on my head. I like other people's cats but I don't want one.

I'm a dog person...but a few years ago a cat adopted us and we loved him. He slept on the foot of my bed which I liked but wanted to go outside at 4:30 am every day which I didn't like. I wanted him to be an inside kitty but he refused. He got cancer so we had to put him to sleep. I miss him but not the wheezing & itchy eyes so we don't have cats.
I have 2 doxies....they are sweet & quiet & lazy.

100 percent dog person. I will tolerate friendly cats, but I love just about every dog I have ever met. I like that my dog offers me protection and a companion for outdoor exercise. Cats are cute and fluffy, but kinda useless. (Just kidding. Put the claws away). ;-)

Dogs. I have had cats, my kids like cats but I much more prefer the affection of dogs. I love all animals with the exception of maybe snakes. I am like 950nancy, if it has fur and will let me pet it then I like it.

Total cat person. I've always had both at the same time - currently have one dog and two cats (had two dogs and 3 cats but illness took one of each). I simply prefer the cat personality.
Dogs will slobber on anyone and everyone; cats are more selective. And when a cat 'accepts' and claims you, their personality reaches levels that a dog's never will. Our dog is funny and sweet, but our cats are flat out hilarious. Not a day goes by that they don't have us belly-laughing our asses off.

Well. I have 2 of each but I consider myself more of a dog person. The thought of not having a dog in my life is just unthinkable (I lasted 8 days after losing my big old girl before coming home with a new pup!). Being "cat less" just doesn't have the same effect on me.

I'm definitely a wannabe crazy cat lady but I love dogs too and love hanging with my friends that have dogs. I'm a wannabe CCL cuz we don't have any pets right now because we are out of town and traveling a lot. I have a bunch of ginger cats that belong to my sis and bro and their families so I get my fix that way.

Cats are cute and fluffy, but kinda useless. (Just kidding. Put the claws away). ;-) You're not wrong. I have two cats but I would never call them helpful in any way. I'm a total cat person, I will always have one. I'm at two right now because they're 12, and one is 23 lbs and kind of an alpha cat, so he would hate a new cat. My other one is a ball of mush and would be fine. My sisters are both dog people. I visited one of them a few weeks ago and her mastiff mix decided it just loved me. It also thinks it's a lap dog, so that was fun. My other sister has a doberman so I can't wait to get a load of that. I like the low maintenance factor, and whoever said it is right, if your cat loves you, you EARNED it.

I am both, and guinea pigs round out my life perfectly. I do "pocket pet" medical fostering. I've fostered sugar gliders, chinchillas, rats, hamsters, and gerbils, as well as many guinea pigs. I have worked with birds, and reptiles, but I chose not to foster them. I am the proud mama of 2 dogs, a cat, and 3 guinea pigs, that were all considered "unadoptable". Each and every one is perfect for our family.
My mom didn't like cats, so I was never able to have one, growing up. DH (DBF at the time) got me a my dream white kitten, when he asked me to move in with him. My mom agreed to let me keep the kitten at our house for a month. She tried to keep him when I did move out, and finally got her own damn cat a week later. You don't know you love cats, until you love one.

I like both, but I prefer cats. They're so pretty and graceful, and so lovably odd. And cats don't bark.

Cats. Dogs are too needy. That said, we had 2 cats until one passed a few weeks ago, and I already told my son, no more pets, we are going to be a single cat family now. Disclosure: I am a dog person. I am allergic to cats. I couldn't resist asking: are cat owners, those that let them roam (all present company excepted, of course, no Pea would ever be so selfish!) under the impression, maybe, just possibly, that their cats are not needy because they are getting their needs met elsewhere? Before 7am this morning I have had two out of the three neighbour cats I am familiar with "visit" me. The grey one was waiting at my patio door as I opened it- tried to come in. Half an hour later I went to open up my husband's home office (separate entrance) and the ginger was waiting to be let out.
