Good morning ladies!! I'm later posting these since we're on vacation this week and I've been taking advantage of not having to get up at 5. Food prep for the week is all finished, minus making some stuff for the freezer for the kids (pancakes, waffles, french toast, muffins, etc). Today I have to take our other dog to the vet. And it's raining. Ick. Then I'm coming home and shampooing the carpets. We only have carpet in the 3 bedrooms and the hallway. I can't wait until we have the time and money to rip it out and put in hardwood. The carpet is just gross. After I do the carpets, I'm going to work out. I hadn't planned to work out yesterday because I was tired from doing all the food prep but I ended up walking a couple of miles anyway. I hope you all have a great day!

Brandy, it sounds like you have a lot of work planned for your "vacation". Lol. I wish I could do that. I was planning to take a week off in early May to do some deep cleaning that I don't otherwise get done, and to get ready/have a garage sale, but I am not sure I will be able to do that now. We will see. Things just don't get done on the weekends like I would like them to. Oh, and congrats on your loss! I read yesterday's thread late last night and didn't comment since I wasn't sure if anyone was still reading.
I have had a VERY stressful week with work and this whole car business, but we ended up getting a new van last night so I am trying to relax and get back to normal. My 7 year old and I have also had a mild stomach bug the last few days so I haven't worked out. Hopefully I will get back on track tomorrow. I have been between 148/149 when weighing, which is good I guess.
Not much else new here. Will check in again later. Have a good day, everyone!

Have fun with the new car iamkristinl16. I am getting things ready for hubby's birthday. We celebrated with my parents on Saturday night so he thinks today will be nothing. Well, he is in for a surprise tonight. I have presents wrapped, making his favorite dinner, and I ordered a pumpkin cheesecake from our local bakery because he LOVES it. I won't eat any so he has a love of cheesecake to eat--it's an 8". But he is super thin so it won't hurt him to eat the whole thing. LOL! I am worn out from so much that we have had going on so I plan on taking a few hours for myself and painting this afternoon. So excited. But I did get in over 15,000 steps yesterday. Hoping to do the same today. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning! I've had some set backs the last few days. Unexpected physical issues that kept me from Orange Theory yesterday. I rescheduled for Saturday and think I'll be able to go tomorrow. I have a call into my doc's office. The person answering the phone told me there was nothing until Friday. I was already at urgent care on Sunday and I NEVER go anywhere unless there is something really wrong. My own doc knows that so I left a message for a call back. Without giving TMI, I ended up with a skin infection out of the blue that was getting worse despite treatment. A little annoyed, but I understand. I also understand that if this doesn't get under control, Friday would be far too late. Also on Monday, I learned that I need surgery on my left hand and will need to take 3 weeks off from work. It's not an urgent thing, but I really don't know when I want to do it between scheduled vacations, etc. It's hard to find coverage for me at work, so this is a problem. The good news is that I am mostly a righty now (was ambidextrous when I was younger) and it is my left hand. ETA; Almost forgot to mention. The scale flickered on Monday! I am less than a pound from my April goal! On another day, I mentioned making my own bathing suit. The pattern was released today, so I can post the photos now. The maroon and blue one was my muslin (like a rough draft). I did not understand the fit for that one. The band across the front is supposed to be like the band of your bra. It's also too long, but I like it that way. I also screwed up the straps and have to redo them. I'll use that one as a work out top with leggings. I made the green one as a tankini. Still need to make some bottoms to go with it. The one with the elephant pattern is a super soft brushed cotton lyrca fabric. Not sure what I will do with that one. I thought it would be a work out top but I don't think the fabric has enough recovery. Might just wear it as a shirt in the summer. It's so soft, I could sleep in it too! Hope this isn't going to be a huge photo! If anyone looking does sew, this is a pretty easy pattern (probably beginner to intermediate). It has nursing and maternity options plus two dress lengths and a zillion strap options. 5outof4.com The pattern is on sale this week.

Oh dear, melissa, sorry about the needed surgery and the skin infection. But glad the scale is going in the right direction! Yeah! And WOW, those bathing suit tops are AWESOME. I love the green criss-cross in the back. Great work!!

Still plugging along... I need to vary my menu-it's just easy to eat the same old things though. It's a day off from gym- may take my mom shopping. We have a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods about 45 minutes away- I may pop in and see what I can find. Cauliflower rice sounds interesting- anyone use it?

alexa11 I have made plain cauliflower rice and it was pretty good, but I really like the cauliflower "fried" rice recipe on skinnytaste. melissa I hope your skin infection gets better soon! Doesn't sound fun. Thanks for the well-wishes for the car. The added payment stresses me out but I keep telling myself it will be ok. My oldest said he won't be embarrassed to have his friends ride with us now. Lol. The old van was a little embarrassing for me as well, TBH. It had scratches on the side that DH tried to paint over, was getting a little rusty, my front seat was zip tied together because the bottom screw came out, and more recently the door had to be rigged together because the chain wasn't working right.

Good Morning! alexa11 - I make cauliflower rice often. I sauté garlic, shredded carrots and then add the cauliflower to it. Top with green onions and soy sauce. I have added egg but I like it better without. iamkristinl16 - car shopping is so stressful! Good luck with finding the perfect car for your family. melissa - sorry to hear about the surgery. Let us know when you get it scheduled. brandy327 - you are one busy person! I wish I could get on board with the food prep. I'm sure my husband would appreciate having real food again. I hardly cook these days. This was from my 5K Sunday. I need to start working on my flabby arms. I have a little bit of muscle but dang...flabby!!! I have dumb bells at home and starting incorporating arm exercises into my daily routine.

Hey everybody!
I scored yesterday. There was a Paderno sale at our local hardware store, and I got the spiralizer for $25 in stead of $42!
Today was eye exam day for me, and I totally forgot it was the yearly eye drop appointment. So I forgot my sunglasses (it was raining when I left home) and in addition to needing extra long arms to read anything, I had to squint all the way home because it was SO bright. It's been over 2 hours now and I still look like I'm high!
Haven't figured out what is for dinner here yet, I have to check the freezer to see what we have on hand.
AF started yesterday, so that means for sure there will be an upward trend on the scale, but hopefully she will be gone and there will be a downwards whoosh by Sunday!

iamkristinl16 - Yeah, while it may be vacation, I try to get stuff done that I don't usually make time for during a school week. So I have appts almost every day this week - dog appts, orthodontist appts, teeth cleaning appts. LOL And I have quite a few spring cleaning chores on my agenda. I did a few of them yesterday in between food prep - like washing the sliding doors inside and out. I try to limit my cleaning to 1/2 the day only that way I can still sit around have time to do whatever I want to in the afternoons. Sorry about the stress of finding a new vehicle but glad you got one. Hopefully you and your 7yo are feeling back to 100% soon!! Patter Awww, how nice of you!! My dh's birthday is next month and I always let the person with the birthday choose a dinner meal that I make for them. I need to ask dh to start thinking about it because sometimes it takes him a while to come up with what he wants. And I will probably make him a chocolate chip cheesecake, since that's his favorite. Happy Birthday to your dh! melissa - Sorry about the skin infection! I have skin issues in general and they're the pits. Hopefully it's cleared up soon! And sorry to hear you need surgery. Been a busy bee this morning - took the dog to his appt. He's healthy and a nervous Nellie. But he was much better behaved than Canon last week. LOL Came home and immediately shampooed the carpets. Then headed downstairs and put in a 55 min workout. Then grabbed lunch. I don't have too much else planned for the day. I have a few dishes to load into the dishwasher...and I'm completely out of granola, so I should make some of that. But other than that...not much going on.

Ugh, April vacation and we have a stomach bug. DD #1 apparently DID have a bug over the weekend, although she felt mostly good with only a couple of short bursts of not feeling good. DS started an hour and a half ago. I'm glad the carpet cleaning machine was still upstairs...had to do a couch with the upholstery attachment. DD #2 is upset and angry because I'm canceling her sleepover that she's supposed to have on Thursday. Her BFF is moving next month and was supposed to stay the night on Thursday. And it took 2 days for the 2nd person to get it...so that would mean anytime between now and Thursday DD #2 could get it. And her BFF's family doesn't need the exposure so close to moving. I sent an email to BFF's mom to see if we could fit it in here in a week or two...I hope we can work something out. Please, pray that I don't get it. I do not handle puke/stomach bugs very well at all...when others are sick OR when I get it. Ugh.

Maybe that was at Trader Joe's- I read it somewhere on this forum. I have never bought it but have seen it at Walmart and the grocery store. I am not sure if it is diced quite as small as I do when I make it, but it would work.

brandy327 I hope nobody else gets it! My son started complaining of stomach pain on Sunday and had a few boughts of diarrhea that day, and was complaining again yesterday with the same. Some pain and loose stool, but then periods of time where he felt OK. That is how I was yesterday as well. Today I feel like I have indigestion but otherwise am ok. Hoping nobody else gets it here, either. I don't deal with vomiting well.

OK...I just need to get this out there and see if I'm just a weird freak of nature of if anyone else experiences what I do.
I'm down about 14 ish pounds based on my weigh-in this morning--it's not my "official" weigh-in--that's on Saturday. I try not to weigh more than 1x/week besides my official one because I get all caught up over the numbers. I'm better than I was, but weighing in more than 2x/week does a number on my head.
I've noticed my mid-section feels "tighter". It feels like it's shrinking. This is good! Yay me!
Except...and here's where I admit I feel like an idiot confessing it...I get SO FREAKED OUT!
Today, I did great. Went to see the podiatrist to get the shot in my foot so that I can walk w/out pain from plantar fasciitis. Went to see my "sleep" doctor. Got groceries. I ate a good breakfast, snack, and lunch.
Got home, and at all the leftover chips my dh bought yesterday. WTF?
WHY am I sabotaging myself? WHY?
WTH is wrong with me?
Ugh! I feel like I should have lost more by now. I'm certainly NOT upset with my losses, but man! Every time I do stuff like this I think "one step forward, two steps back". Ugh!
On a slightly more positive note, I did count them as best I could (there was no weighing/ measuring so it's my best guess). Sigh....
So...am I a freak or does anyone else do this?

Aww...thanks fkawitchypea You're very sweet. I have to tell myself every day "I can do this", "This will take time, but time will pass anyway" over and over like it's on a loop. It can be exhausting, but it helps keep me focused and working the program.

Hey ladies. DD is super good about sharing...germs. Battling a sore throat all day, but no fever. We both went back to school today. I did go to the gym and ended up setting a 10 pound PR (personal record) on my 2 rep max back squat--it's only 7 pounds off my 1 rep max and I'm just finishing my third week of this program. I'm excited to see what other progress I make! brandy327 oh no! I hope the bug doesn't hit the rest of the family! Patter, I'm impressed with your consistency at hitting over 10K steps! melissa I hope you're able to address your issue sooner than later. Infections are no fun to deal with. alexa11 I'm not a huge fan of cauli rice...texture thing. I have used it for pizza crust before and it came out pretty well. needmysanity congrats on the 5K! cakediva I hate those eye drops with a passion! missfrenchjessica I can SO relate! I think I get fearful that I'm going to blow it when I'm successful, so in my mind if I sabotage my success I won't be so scared of it because I've taken some of it away. Make sense? Give yourself some grace and remember tomorrow is a brand new day to start over again.

I hadn't really though that maybe I have been sabotaging in order to get some "control" of the fear of being successful. It's an interesting take on it. I'm going to have to think on it and see if maybe that is what I'm doing. I just get SO freaked out--and it feels so darn counter-intuitive. Who DOESN'T want to get to a healthy weight, wear nice clothes, feel comfortable in their own skin? Apparently that would be me. Sigh... Tomorrow is a new day...it will be better. Thank you for reminding me of that.

missfrenchjessica - I do the same thing!! It is still a real struggle for me to not hit the drive thru and have those fries, or to have that bagel when I go through the Tim Hortons drive through. I'll have a really great morning, and then come home and do something stupid. This weekend it was eating a bunch of leftover butter tart squares that I didn't use for an order. I hate what I see in the mirror when I'm getting in the shower - yet I keep on making bad food choices. Sigh

brandy327 Oh, no- not again! Hope he feels better soon. Really? I didn't find it too bad - I ran it under hot water right away and got all the bits out. Mind you, I only used the ribbon blade for cucumber salad. I have a good scrub brush that should work well for it though. Can't wait to make me some veggie noodles!

Ugh. I am so frustrated with this car stuff. When I went to the dealer yesterday, I specifically told the salesperson that I had another vehicle I mind but wanted to check theirs out due to it having Bluetooth, camera, etc. I mentioned it more than once. We were messing with it tonight and the Bluetooth wasn't connecting. Called Chrysler and our van would need a module installed to have Bluetooth. I can no longer see the listing for the car to see if it specifically said it had Bluetooth or if I just assumed that it did due to it having the buttons for it. I have emailed the salesperson to ask about this. DH is pissed. This whole car search has been made much more stressful due to his attitude. On Saturday, his message was, "get what you want, it's your van, etc". Then on Sunday he was set on getting one at a dealership that didn't have the extra features and said it was dumb to look elsewhere or drive to another town. I saw the one online that we ended up buying and decided to go look even thought it is almost an hour away. All day yesterday he was rude and pissy about it and said he was "done" and that I could figure it out. When we went to pick up the car he was more laid back but still had an attitude. I told him that had the cars been side by side he would have chosen the one we bought because a) he liked the color better and b) he thinks town and country's are better quality than caravans. I told him that this was a big purchase and I wanted to be on the same page and feel happy about it, and he was not leaving me feeling that way. This morning he sent me a text saying that I was right and did a good job finding the van and getting a good deal. But now he is being pissy and short again.
I am hoping that the dealership will fix the issue and will be disappointed if they don't, but honestly I still would have chosen this van because of the other features that it does have. I am sick of his attitude and him making situations worse by giving me the silent treatment or being rude. It has been like this for a long time but right now I am over it. Vent over.

Well, my average is around 12,000 as I don't get as many steps on the weekends. But I get my steps in by walking the dogs, and just working around the house. My daughter recovering from heart surgery got 10,000 yesterday walking about the house. She does laps. LOL! And my FitBit helps because I can see how lazy or effective I am each day. Love my FitBit.
