I could rewrite your question as Do You Really Care About Beyonce and give you the same answer: No

The only interesting part of this particular story is that a good portion of Beyonce's fans are so bright that they have confused Rachel Roy with Rachel Ray and have been posting hate mail on Rachel Ray's cooking sites/pages. Because, ya know, Jay Z has a thing for middle-aged chefs. I guess the bonus is that Rachel Ray has had more free press than she may have had, ever! Rachel Rays response to all of this was to post a recipe for lemonade which cracked me up. Haha.

I could not care less about any of this. I'm bothered that it was discussed on what is supposed to be the evening news.

I didn't even know this was a thing until I saw Joanna Gaines post a recipe for lemon pie and someone said she must have been listening to Beyonce. I saw the title of the other thread but now when I see Beyonce I think of the chicken for some reason.

I think people who are worried about this are missing the forest for the trees, so it speak, and it does not matter and was not the point. I think Beyonce has put forth a stunning piece of art and social commentary. I admire the hell out of her because I think it would have been really easy to stay in the crossover "pop idol" mold, collected all the money, and let everyone love her. IMO, She's doing something more important than that - it's gaining her a ton of haters, but it's speaking deeply to a lot of people too. Team Beyonce. All the Way. Social commentary on what? How she doesn't feel like people pay enough attention to her? As much as that was sarcastic, I'm curious to actually know what you think she's making a comment on. Here's one article along those lines. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/apr/25/beyonce-lemonade-jay-z-infidelity-emotional-project-depths

Like lots of others I didn't know she had a new song and, consequently, that it was supposedly about a particular person or situation. But I don't think her target audience is posting at 2PR.

I will say I don't see how accepting a man's infidelity is a powerful statement for women.

No I do not. I do not understand the fascination with Beyonce and Jay Z. I really do not understand why the media often refers to them as Americas royalty.

The last Beyoncé song I heard was "crazy in love". I know she's had lots of hits since then, but I just haven't been interested. I love me some good celebrity gossip as much as the next guy, but I just don't care about this whole thing.

I love listening to Beyoncé! I cancelled my People subscription in 2010, however, so no longer follow celeb personal lives.

I think I am totally lost. You know how some songs have "meanings" to them. I am just not able to read a song for what the deeper meaning is. I don't know what anything means. I think it's not being able to comprehend poetry. I just don't get it or want to get it. It's weird.
I don't know or care who a song is about!

I will say I don't see how accepting a man's infidelity is a powerful statement for women. I feel kind of judgy, but I was thinking the same thing. I like Bey and Jay-Z and I'm kind of sad and disappointed. I didn't see the video but I think it's ridiculous to compare her to Kim K who is famous for exactly nothing. Beyonce is a performer, and I think she's a good one. It's just a matter of taste.

Kicking his sorry ass to the curb would be a powerful statement. She was actually going that way for 2/3 of the hour. I expect he'll be cheating again eventually. Maybe he'll hide it better this time until they have some new scheme to promote.

I feel lost. What song? I don't follow Beyonce or care much about her or her husband. They seem stuck-up. On the other hand after reading this thread, I do feel like going and looking up Rachael Ray on Facebook and seeing what she's posted recently.

I don't know anyone who listens to Beyoncé or gives a rat's ass about her or her life. I don't understand the media hype around her at all. So, in summary, no, I don't care who her song is about. You beat me to it! That is my favorite saying. I thought it interesting that the Rachael lady post something about her hair (outing her to all of Beyonce's fans) and then shocked that she was getting death threats. People are crazy on the internet! Present company excluded Why would you put you and your family at risk? I feel badly for anyone who is cheated on though.

I like the album and the video and think it is all very artistic. I think Beyonce is talented but don't own any of her albums so am not a huge fan as such. I think she and her message will be important to someone out there.
I liked Madonna as a teenager and got powerful messages from her but she was a showboat for sure. I don't care if the marriage problems are true or false as much as I didn't care if Madonna was going on a Holiday or was like a virgin. I also didn't care who Carly Simon was singing about as to who was vain. I just thought she was singing about 80% of the human population.
Socially I think this video was good as it represented black women through history beautifully. Relationships, divorce etc...all social issues. She also had the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, and Eric Garner in the video.
If she makes money from this so be it. This is her job. The video would have cost a tonne of money to produce.
Not getting the obsession with her personal life but also not getting the distaste or feigned indifference to what really is an impressive piece of media.

I think based on the responses though, I'd say we're not the ones most likely caring about her celebrity and the details of her life.

The fact that she and her husband were good friends with Kanye was enough for me to question their intelligence. I mostly listen to country so can't say that I've ever paid any attention to her other than what might pop up on the news.

Nope.
And I'm super annoyed it was covered during the news programming yesterday evening. At least GMA is entertainment, as far as I'm concerned.

Beyonce is so little on my radar I didn't even know she had a new song out. She's so little on my radar that when I was scrolling down the thread titles and saw her name on 2 of them I was thinking "Oh she's still around" but I figured the peas care cause she is listed in 2 thread titles.

If they took all of the proceeds from the song/video/album/movie/whateveritis and started a charity to provide counseling & legal services to women who have been in the position outlined in the story, I would believe it was for a legitimate social cause. I might even make a donation.
The only thing I even paid attention to in the snippits of video shown in the news, is the gorgeous yellow dress she was wearing. But that's just because I love yellow and it had nothing to do with who was wearing it.
I know I say this all the time, but I have a hard time feeling sympathy for/taking seriously/believing celebrities who have sold their dignity for the sake of fame and fortune.

Her target audience may not post here but a lot of women should be able to relate to infidelity. Page 1 alone is indicative of that. Singers have been singing about what's going on in their personal lives since the beginning so why the fuss over Lemonade? Art imitates life and all that.

I do think the songs, in general, are pretty interesting from a perspective of them being about her current husband - that's awkward. Pretty balls-y. But then I wonder if they really are even about their marriage or if the speculation is just really good for business and they (as a couple) are laughing all the way to the bank This!
