Yikes! I have a raging headache now. I have some younger friends and while they do type with extra letters a lot, they mostly okay spellers. I ReAlLy HaVe A hArD tImE rEaDiNg words typed like this though. Not to mention actually typing that out! Thankfully, I think that fad has passed.
I hope your friend knows better than to try typing like that in a professional email.

That would drive me batty. I tend to overlook misspelled words simply because of fat fingers and such. If someone uses threw when they truly meant through, I get it. I have caught myself doing this numerous times. But all the made up crap? Nope, not enough time in my day to figure out the code they are using. It's not just me though, both of my geek sons hate it as well. Then again they both use proper English when the text, post and speak. I'm the same with misspellings. I know how often our brain says their and our fingers type there. And I'm the same with the made up words too. One of the conditions of my dd getting her first phone was that she had to spell words out correctly. She still does for the most part. Well at least she does to me

Wot u doin? Come ova for realldawgg. Are they cooking a canine? I'm in crochet related group on FB and many times a day people ask for ideas for a boarder for their blankets. There are times I would like a boarder for my blankets, too.

Ugg I can't deal with that. I will occasionally put extra letters on something for emphasis. After I had written a proper legible sentence. The other day on Facebook a friend posted a recipe of something and I commented "This is so good, you have to make it. Mmmm, soooo goood!"

I think it would be scarier if she was in her 40's and spoke like that. but yes, my head exploded just trying to read that. I gave up after 4 sentences.

What is "vocal fry"? I haven't heard that term before but I'm quite certain it's something that would annoy me! Wot u doin? Come ova for realldawgg. Are they cooking a canine? OMG LOL!!! I have read this over and over...... What is she saying here: "nawe my lil spunky new friend gone nun nyez in my hand" Is this girl a mother? Can someone please help me out? I was able to translate all but the above quote. No, my little spunky new friend (did something) in my hand? Is that correct? I have no idea what that one means. I was hoping someone here could help decipher it! If it's any help, it was a picture of a cat lying asleep on his back. Aha, I think I may have worked it out..... the cat went nigh-nighs (as in asleep) in her hand??

This is just one of the reasons that I don't worry about being employable in my golden years.

We call this good campfire fun. Go back and reread like she would talk. Yes, it is mean, but if you're going to put it out there.... My DD is friends with a girl that writes like this. It is kinda funny when you talk out loud.

Hate, hate, hate it. Why did it catch on, and who started it? Now at least I know it's name.

That stuff drives me nutso. I see it most often in our local FB sale groups. I would not be able to keep someone current on my friend list who did that. Awful.

Oh good lord, that IS awfully annoying. I don't think I've heard it here in young girls' speech. I'll have to pay attention to see whether it's "caught on" here or not. I do think that the American accent lends itself very well to vocal fry. The Australian accent is "broader" so not as easy to fry.

I would unfollow her. I hate intentional misspelling. I'm pretty forgiving of fat-finger, or didn't proof read, or similar. I auto-translate and move right over it because I do it myself. When you do it on purpose, it's not cute or funny, it's annoying. That stuff hurts my eyes.
DS and I mispronounce things on purpose sometimes, but it's an inside-joke kind of thing. We don't do it in public, and we type using proper grammar and spelling. I just worry that if you're doing that in social media, you lose your ability to recognize appropriate professional speech. You can't get a decent job speaking/writing like that. At least I wouldn't hire you.
