My DH works very hard. He is at work 6 days a week, almost 60 hours a week. He is so supportive and takes such good care of me and the girls, as well as the house and cars. I do my part during "regular" life to take care of him as well. Things like laundry and cooking dinner and such. But he is getting pretty burned out. We haven't been on vacation, or even a little getaway, in almost 8 months and he needs it. So we are taking a little trip in a few weeks. Not far, not fancy. But far enough away to disconnect from work and the house. I would really like to do something (or more than one thing) special for him on this trip, but honestly my budget is very tight and I don't have a lot of extra cash to take him out to dinner or to a show. So I am looking for low-cost ideas to show DH that I appreciate him. I realize that there is one [free] thing that he, like most guys, would appreciate but I would like to go above and beyond that. Any ideas?

You are so sweet! I have strong hands and give great massages. My husband is always happy to receive a relaxing massage. Maybe you can give your husband a massage before you give him the other free thing

I think that is an excellent idea and would just gear the trip towards his interests. What types of activities does he like to do? For instance, if he enjoys golf you can go with him in the cart even if you don't play. I will pretend to be DH's caddy and retrieve, put away his clubs, hand him his drinks and clean his balls LOL. Is he a car enthusiast? Check and see if there are any shows you can schedule your trip around. Pick a restaurant that has his favorite types of foods and an atmosphere he would most like. And silly things like, how you dress and wear your hair. My husband likes my hair in a ponytail and me in jeans and sports t-shirts. Maybe just have room service deliver food and y'all can relax and watch what he wants on TV all night.
eta: You can gather information about the area you are visiting and leave the decisions to him if you are uncertain.

DH would be thrilled if I found a local hiking trail, followed by some time puttering through a book store. He loves to go hit a bucket of balls at a driving range.
I would look at what events/fesitvals/farmer's markets, etc., are happening where you are going and plan to hit some of those for cheap entertainment. Maybe put together a picnic to take on the hike.

I like the idea of hiking or massage. Maybe shower sex too. Anything to spice it up a bit.
