We have a Shih Tzu who is pretty much the same way...mostly an inside dog. I know she would easily overheat there so we'll have to be careful with that.

ahh yes that HOA are popular around here but we were lucky and are not in one. Dh's cousin isn't either. We don't have one. That was another option we did NOT want an HOA. I hope you can come visit and make a check list of what you like and don't. Areas etc.. We have the concrete walls that devide the houses, but where I am there is more yards. We looked a lot but mostly stayed in the East Valley. Maybe there's some one that can tell ya more on the West side. There's lots out there too, but I don't knnow it as well, except that the Cardinal Stadium is out there and we have friends that live near the stadium. We had shih tzu's before the Labs when we first moved here. We lost one too cancer and the other just old age lived to be 15. But even they liked to be on the first step of the pool! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I don't leave my dogs outside at all. They can come and go but they're never left out there unattended or when we're not home. Queen Creek is nice it's just a bit further out.

4 dogs - all indoor dogs (we have a hairy house)!
First thing we do is check out the HOA fees - we were looking in Queen Creek community and found out, especially if you're on the golf course, there are pet restrictions along with a whole host of other restrictions - sorta turned us off of it. We have an HOA now ($55/month with pool, park, basketball & tennis courts, etc.)
In our minds we know what we want 4 bed/2+ bath, 3 car garage, and one of the bedrooms has to be big enough for my scrappy cave! Child wants a game room loft thing (heck we'd never see him). Hubby just wants to escape So. Cal.
Hubby wants a place that he can manage his mother's care from - at a distance, and eventually be able to move her to AZ for long term care without having to pay $8,000 and more a month (which is Ca current rates).
