Tonight I think we'll have gyoza and steamed rice w/a salad.
What's on your menu?
Have a great Friday everyone. Happy hour is any hour that it's the weekend.

We're planning to go and see Batman vs. Superman tonight ... dh want to see it and it does star my straight boyfriend Henry Cavill It has gotten kind of bad reviews though so we'll see how it is ... Bff and her boyfriend are going with us and might be coming here for dinner first ... and to drink wine If that's the case, I'm making chicken enchiladas ... if not dh and I will just eat popcorn for dinner I'll probably pick up Subway for the dd's since enchilada's are not something they would be interested in ... big surprise

Since DS17 is competing in the national championships tomorrow IF he is able to lose the last 500 g, we all ate spinach soup today trying to be supportive. (His favourite, the rest of us hate it, but I'm not going to make two dinners).

I'm doing something kinda odd & fun I do sometimes to break up our boring dinner routine. I'm making Mac and cheese, corn, and cantaloupe...all yellow/orange. Just happy it's Friday and I can hang out all weekend.

Haven't cooked all week since I was in Ohio, so tonight I am making turkey meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. My 14yo LOVES meatloaf so I may. Have to make 2! He literally ate half the loaf last time and would have eaten more if I let him!

We're having deconstructed stuffed cabbage casserole, roasted green beans, carrots, and cauliflower, rolls, and if I can find the applesauce in the freezer, we'll have that too.

My 6yo has his first loose tooth! His new tooth has already come in behind it, but the baby tooth is barely wiggly at this point so we're trying to get his tooth to loosen on it's before having to go to the dentist. Tonight, we're going to have sloppy joes with lots of veggies in the sauce, corn on the cob and sliced apples/baby carrots. Ohhh and we've got a tball game at 6:30

Beef brisket with potatoes and veggies. And I finally bought some stuff that didn't garner complaints from the males. So we have fresh macaroons and chocolate Bon bons for dessert

I have a ton of leftovers from last night ... pot roast, mashed potatoes, etc., and also my first-ever homemade pound cake (see EGGS! thread). OR I might just go to Costco for dinner. We're having deconstructed stuffed cabbage casserole, roasted green beans, carrots, and cauliflower, rolls, and if I can find the applesauce in the freezer, we'll have that too. I think I forgot to tell you I made this a couple of weeks ago and it was a big hit. So thank you! I added lemon juice and next time I might add a little honey ... my sister reminded me we have a similar recipe with a little bit of that sweet & sour thing going on.

It's scrapping night for me after a long hiatus, so probably a lot of junk food and wine. I am bringing chocolate-raspberry meatballs and chocolate babka, along with the requisite wine. There will probably be pizza and chips and other good munchies as well.

Last night I told dh some nights I get fed up of figuring out the menu for the next day, and last night was it. His response, I'll pick something up, but, the frugal in me said "no". Why pick up food when we have 2 freezers and fridges full of food. So, instead it's an easy/cheat night of tofu with a jar of Trader Joes Thai curry, I'll probably chop up carrots and yellow squash to add to it and depending on my mood we'll either have Trader Joes frozen naan with it, or I'll attempt to make green garlic paratha (which I've been planning to make for a long time and this week green garlic was one of the items in our CSA). Hmmmm, now reading this, somehow dinner doesn't sound quite as quick and easy as I thought.

It's pizza night!
DH won't be here, so we're going to order Papa John's. He is not a fan, so we'll take advantage of his absence to enjoy it.

We like it up there too. Sometime in 2017-18 we'll be retiring up there. It will just take a bit of getting use to the hotter summers but that's what air conditioning is for.

The kids are eating Sonic, which they requested. Well, DS2 requested it. DS1 won't complain at all.
I am happily meeting my cousins for dinner at a local Mexican place. Really looking forward to spending time with them - we love getting together! I have been craving ceviche, and they have it so that will be my dinner. Along with chips and salsa.

It sure is a hit in my house. I never thought of adding lemon juice or honey to it. hmm, I like the idea of the sweet & sour things. Now, all I have to do is remember to try that. Which, is unlikely since I can't seem to walk across a room these days without getting to the other side and wondering why I'm there. *sigh*

Last night we had dinner with our great friends from out of town that we don't get to see that often. Everyone is converging for the aviation show this weekend. We went to a great restaurant and I had the BEST shrimp and grits! It was a flavor explosion!
Tonight dh is going out with some clients and I am going to a dinner theater at dd's school. They are serving spaghetti. I don't care what it is as long as I don't have to cook!

candygurl, happy birthday! I forgot to mention that the Thai Basil chicken that I made last night was really good. The kids loved it. I did not make it spicy enough, so the oldest added red pepper flakes. That really added some extra kick and enhanced the flavors. Kids loved the meal - score! Mom (temporarly) satisfies craving for Thai food - score! Thai Basil Chicken FTW! Lisa

I'm just going for the man candy I'm used to sitting through his crappy TV shows (Gold Rush, Timber Kings, lame car auctions, etc.) so this cannot be any worse ... except for the fact that I don't have a computer to play on at the same time

Leftover salmon and fresh asparagus, not roasted this time, I let them go too long and they lost their crisp. I just made chocolate chip walnut bars and had one for lunch! That means no starch for me at dinner. I'm dying for some good tomatoes, but we haven't planted ours yet, we keep getting cold snaps.

It's my birthday so we are going out!!! Happy Birthday!!! I hope you have a fabulous dinner out I have not idea what I will make for dinner. I am sending dh to the butcher and to the produce market today so I will have a bunch of fresh ingredients to play with. But other than that I have not thought about what I feel like making. I need to cook and freeze this weekend for our next camping trip. Knowing it's for a mini trip makes the extra cooking so much more enjoyable
