The flower does look like a Rose of Sharon but the leaves don't. How big is the tree? Whatever it is, it is pretty.

The flower doesn't seem to have the same center as a Rose of Sharon blossom. I think it may be a variety of ornamental cherry.

It is in the hill country of Texas. It is about 8 feet tall. I don't have a picture of the whole thing.

Based on the flower and leaves, I agree some type of apple. I'm not familiar with crabapple though.

I think the bark and the leaves look more like a cherry. The leaves are longer and the bark smoother than apple trees.

It might be a Japanese Cherry Tree.
My hometown has these lining the main highway through town. The size is about right.
