I'm having two friends over for dinner next week. I'm not sure what to make. Any ideas? I feel like this is my chance to get out of my usual family comfort food rut!

are there things you love to eat that your family doesn't enjoy, but you think your friends would?

What about some kind of crepe wrap thing. You could do savory filling for dinner and sweet for dessert. Crepe cafes are all the rage in my city and I'm getting addicted...

I had a friend over for dinner and made crepes. They were a huge hit. I made a dinner crepe and a dessert crepe. The best part is you can make most of it in advance.

I love the crepe idea too, we got a crepe maker from my mom for cams this year we do it for family dinners We use it all the time! Other than that I would do some pasta not like spaghetti, like a mac n cheese , ravioli or tortellini, with red sauce and a cream sauce.. depending on what they like or both.

Grilled chicken (or salmon if they eat fish) with a Greek yogurt cucumber sauce, big salad, pita or naan bread, and yellow rice.

I have a couple of friends that come over regularly to be fed and when I ask if they have preferences their usual response is along the lines of "whatever you make." I think it is mostly because they are both single and less apt to cook for themselves, and my one friend is a single mother who does cook simple stuff-but all in all, I think they just are okay with anything that they don't have to cook and clean up. My guess is that your friends will be the same way-appreciating what ever you do because for one night, someone is taking care of them.

I have a couple of friends that I get together with every month or so for a wine night. Last time it was at my house I made salmon burgers and a grilled corn/arugula salad. They are SO good!

I did a baby spinach salad with fresh mozzarella, avocado, chicken and grape tomatoes.....and left the pieces separate so each person could make their own. It's hard to eat that with my boys but too much to ever make for just myself.....and my friends were trying to be "good". It worked for us!
