My sister just had 3000 of my father and grandpa's color slides converted into digital pictures. She sent me a few last night. This picture is of my father and his grandmother in 1942. She was born in the 1880s. Doesn't it look like it could have been taken yesterday? Do you have a cool picture to share? ETA: this is grabbed off facebook. She's mailing them on a flashdrive. I'm sure that version will be more crisp and clear.

What a lovely and amazing photo.
I love seeing older family photos gives a glimpse to where we came from.

The clarity is amazing! It will be interesting to see the clothing, vehicles, hair styles, etc. as you look through the pictures taken long ago. Do you know the location where this one was taken? Please share more!!!

Both pictures were taken on Mt. Desert Island, ME. In 1942, my grandfather was in the Army Aircorps. After the war, he got his PhD and was a biology professor. They spent every summer in Maine, camping. It was their favorite place in the world. This one is my grandmother. Isn't it cool to see her so young, and just relaxing at their campsite like that?

What a treasure trove you've been given. The clarity is amazing for the age of the original slides. I love looking at old photos and seeing how different things are today.

Oh that is great! My dad gave me a whole bunch of pictures and my sister the other half. We both need to go through them to see what is there. Enjoy your "new" pictures!

How delightful! And yes, beautifully clear. When Grandma died, my Mum gave me a little wooden box of her keepsakes: bits of costume jewellery, a coin, nothing of value. Recently I discovered that the bottom of the box was false, and underneath it were some negatives. I had them developed and there were about half a dozen photos of my grandfather at probably about 60-65 with no clothes on. There was nothing naughty to see, but of course we're wildly curious about why they were taken. Probably by Grandma. Definitely with his knowledge. He isn't looking at the camera in any of them, not posing. We were wondering whether there was some medical reason. Anyway. My apologies for hijacking your post!

Oh wow! That is just a priceless treasure!
It's funny, when I looked at the first one, I thought vaguely that it looked like Mt. Desert Island when we were there years ago--and lo and behold it is!
Having them in color is extra-special, I think. We get so used to just seeing black-and-white images of that era, color images are really a revelation.

Beautiful photo! I love the color.
This photo is a favorite of mine---it's my maternal grandmother as a little girl. She won the doll in some sort of contest.

I found these pictures in a box, they only measure just over one and a half inches. I'd love to know what camera they were taken on. My Mum and Dad sometime in the 50s.

This one is me and my little sister in front of St. Joseph's Lithuanian Church in Lowell, MA. in 1965. This one was taken by my father. My dad ran photo labs on various Army bases when he was in the Army right out of college. Then he went to work for 40 years at Eastman Kodak as a chemical engineer in film processes. Here's me and my grandma in her kitchen. Such wonderful memories of her.

This is my mom, taken by my dad. I think it just glows with his love for her. Again, in Maine, probably in 1961.

Fabulous photos! I just have to mention how much I love this deck chair. My parents had two that are almost identical to this (theirs also have an adjustable canopy). I claimed them when our family home was sold a couple of years ago and they are living at my sister's house until I figure out how to get them down here.

Great photos! I am going through all my family photos gathered from my parents and grandparents (my parents were only children & I have one sister who is not interested in them) I'm trying to figure out how to store them. I'll try to come back and show a few after I get them scanned into my computer.
