We had a big event last night - so sad I didn't get any scrappy time... My day 4 "fire" layout is here. I used yellow, orange and red mist to create the background plus a few of my gazillion Project Life cards to make the photo mat. The photos are of my daughter (age 8 at the time) being silly while backlit by a huge glass wall at her weekly art class - she was having so much fun! Now to get to work on day 5 before tomorrow's challenge is posted!

Challenge 6/7 (weekend). This one is for justcindy, girl where are you? This is a TWO part challenge. Sometimes, if you are like me, you get the photos down, the paper is there, the embellishments etc but you either forget or run out of room for the WORDS, the STORY, the reason (at least my reason) we scrap. So this weekend I want you to journal your heart out. I want you to tell me a story, a story that the pictures DON'T tell. A story that NEEDS to be told. A story BEYOND the who, what, where. Something that is special to you, something funny, silly, sad, something emotional in some way. Something that needs to be documented that has not been done thus far. I challenge you to do journal at least 1/4 of your creation. So if you are doing a 12X12 page (single) you would need a 6X6 space of words. Doing 8X8 then I want to see a 4X4 approximate space of words and so forth. You can hand write, list, computer journal, whatever you are more comfortable with is just fine. You can hide the journaling or have it front and center, it is up to you. I do want a shot of it to prove you did it though (if you need to blur the words that is fine). Get that story written. BUT THERE IS MORE! It is summer, that makes me think of bright colors, so this is ALSO a color combination. I have TWO choices for you. Please choose one and try to use it in your creation. (If it doesn't work for the story you want to tell that is fine, story comes first). If you want to do this as TWO challenges (story one and color another) that is fine too! So who thinks they can do this? I can't wait to see what you ladies come up with! After this weekend we are HALF WAY THROUGH! I want to see so many creations uploaded this weekend my head spins! COME ON!!!!!

Here is my Challenge 5. I ALWAYS start with a cardstock base and then usually keep most of that showing. So my challenge was all patterned paper. This is 100% patterned paper. (the pictures were preprinted with the border since I am strange and must have them matted). I actually like it, sorry for the poor quality again. This one will go next to my "ice" challenge page in the book.

crystalbbbbbb - thank you for next challenge yet. I generally journal at the end of the day of an event (like a vacation, I journal at the end of each day and create an entire journaling page). Journaling should not be a problem. Love the color pallets we can pick from. Will have to go through the photos I have and see what I can come up with.
You made a very sweet page for Challenge 5, I have those same wood veeners!

Ok so I'm finally catching up on praise. If you've posted your layouts on sb.com I've left you some there.
Crystal - [HASH]1 - I love the strips of washi. The fun designs work so well with these photos. [HASH]2 - the pp strips add such movement to the design and I like how you've mimicked that with the word strips. [HASH]3 - the sparkly alpha and on the border strip are the perfect bit of bling. That's such a sweet photo too. [HASH]4 - great use of those old brads. All the themed supplies work so well on this lo. [HASH]5 - that was a sneaky way to get around the no cardstock rule!
Scrapdolly - [HASH]1 - Love the mix of portrait and landscape photos on [HASH]1 and the banner ends on your strips. I've lifted some of your ideas for my version. [HASH]2 - Those Olaf's are seriously adorable. I love the frosty feel to your lo. [HASH]3 - I love your second Frozen page. Everything about this is just perfect! [HASH]4 - the background pp is perfect for these photos.
sbartist - [HASH]1 - your paper piecing is fabulous - love the jewels in the treasure chest [HASH]2 - I love the effect of the pp circles. Great colour choices to go with your photos. [HASH]3 - Stunning photos, I can see why you were drawn to them. I love how you've matted them in different colours and the title is cute!
marybuttons - [HASH]1 - your colour combos are so elegant, perfect for these wedding photos. I love how you flipped the sketch to create the second page. [HASH]2 - I love all the circles in your design and how you've mixed it up with the scalloped circles. Simply beautiful. [HASH]3 - great take on the fire. I love how the yellow design at the bottom almost looks like flames on the red background. [HASH]4 - she was brave to be lifted up like that! I love the mix of shapes in the pearl buttons.
robkaynel - Great job thinking outside the box with the Christmas embellies - they are perfect for this page.

Chinagirl awesome page! I love the bigger banners as the strips! I love all the journaling too! YAY!
Glad you all like the big journal challenge. I needed a kick in the butt to get back to it. Last night my family (all of them!) sat down and looked through my books for about 30 minutes then my daughter asked to look more for her special stay up late with mom and dad time. I about melted. I had been thinking NO ONE cared but now I am so happy I have all these memories down!

I absolutely LOVE that Coney Island page This is mine for using patterned paper not cardstock. It is VERY rare for me to do a page without cardstock - even a digital one. Challenge [HASH]5 frozen lemonade

Scrapdolly - that is the perfect shade of pink for your page and I love all the splatters and bead scatters. It feels summery without being really bright.

Those big banners are very cool. I need to remember to do that instead of little ones all the time. Good for you for journaling.

scrapdolly - your journaling is too cute for the frozen lemonade. I agree with Chinagirl828 - perfect colors to go with your story. I like the darker pink rings on your page, it looks like you set the cup down and the condensation left a mark.

I went Digi for this challenge and did a lot of journalling of memories from the past I also used the pink and green combo although in reverse as there is far more green than pink. btw all materials used here are my own creation with the aid of Serif Page Plus the journalling reads I used to really enjoy the shopping trips mum and I made. When I was young we used to catch the bus into the next town as they had a street market there, the stalls were full of material, fruit & veg, sweets & biscuits. All the lovely goodies we could possibly want. Mum was a dressmaker and we would often buy material to make either dresses for me or for herself. I remember two particular shops, both Jewish in which we would browse for trimmings as well as the material, Samuels was one but I don’t remember the name of the other. Years later I would catch the bus to Cheltenham and meet up with her there. We would go for a coffee then mooch around the shops. In one of the smaller roads there was a material shop full of silks and satins. Later we would have dinner together in one particular cafe that did lovely fish & chips at a very reasonable price. In this photo we are both wearing clothes we had made from the material bought in that Cheltenham shop, and although Mum was well in her 80s she could still make beautiful dresses for herself and had taught me to do the same. I miss these shopping trips now that she has gone, shopping with others isn’t the same, doesn’t hold the endearing quality of shopping with my Mum

Challenge 6/7 -
The journaling is almost an entire 8.5x11 sheet of paper, some of which I either paraphrased or copied regarding the actual ceremony.

WOW! Ladies you all did AMAZING this weekend! Simply fantastic! I have my color one done but the camera is charging. We had a whirlwind full weekend. I have my journaling written but am printing over 100 photos from this weekend and the past two and forgot to put the two photos I need to finish my journal page in the front of the que so I will get those done in the morning. I am so proud of you ladies! Scrapdolly-I love the colors in your frozen lemonade, and you are correct it is the little moments that mean the most! LocoCoco-Adorable pointers page! I love all the tearing and layering you did! Pink and yellow with the photos is great! Marybuttons-Your page and journaling made me teary eyed. How precious and amazing to have those memories. Thank you for sharing those with us. Sbartist-Do I see 17 pictures AND all that journaling on a 2 page layout? PLEASE tell me HOW you rocked that one out? AWESOME! Pam-WELCOME WELCOME! Great first page! I love the strips and the pictures are so fun! Can't wait to see what else you have in store! Challenge 8: (Monday August 11) GRIDS! I want to see a project COMPLETELY done in A GRID or with gridded paper, a grid design, etc etc. Very linear but make it your own. I have attached some examples of what I think a grid is, what is your interpretation? You can go even more linear if you wish. Make it your own but I want to see some sort of grid in there!

Here is my color challenge. I went with the hot pink/orange combo with some neon blue/yellow and black. These pictures are of my DD just a few weeks ago. She attended VBS and they were given secret agent names, this was hers. The journaling is all on the bright yellow pull out. Pic from cell phone. I made all the circles with punches!

pam - love your Halloween page - don't know if you used Halloween washi or strips of Halloween paper (which is what I would do, as washi tape does not stick well here) and fun embellishments, very cute.
crystal - I have learned to order 4x6 collage prints - two photos at a time, they cost $.39 which is the about same as ordering two prints full size, that way I can sneak more photos on a page and I would rather do a two-pager, than one-pager any day. I had about 75 photos to weed through for this event and I knew I wanted to keep it to two pages. A lot of them were duplicates, like the first photo with the rainbow - I think I had 5 or 6 of just that because the screen underneath it had different images on it, so I was trying to capture the image, within the image I wanted Ü
Your daughter is too cute! And you made all of your colorful circular embellishments for this page? You rock!

LocoCoco - I love the yellow and pink with the enlarged photos. Your puppies are so sweet.
Marybuttons - Your journaling is so sweet. I love how the outfits you are wearing have such special meaning to your story. Simply beautiful!
sbartist - You've done a great job with the colour challenge and I love that you've included the history with the journaling.

Pam - I love the Halloween embellies. My sister is obsessed with orange so I always end up riding in the orange Dumbo with her.
Crystal - I love the layered circles and those are such fun photos.
