I quite like that lamp. The white one that looks like a bleached out womb? Or the pineapple one?

I love the food art but am too lazy and strapped for time...although, I have made the hot dog octopuses because they're easy and DD has a thing for octopuses. I'm pretty sure I will never need ideas for decorating with empty toilet paper tubes. Decorating did you say? I haven't seen TP tubes being used for decoration but I have used them to start seedlings with and they worked beautifully!!
I would love to see some photos of pins of TP decorations--you know, redneck research and all that jazz!!

I could totally see a tween aged kid liking that spoon mirror.
It would also probably be wicked cute in a kid's camp, daycare, preschool, etc.
I definitely get a fun kid vibe from it.

I might pin them, but I never use glitter on any Pinterest projects with glitter.
I'm an asthmatic, and I don't know if that is why, or if it is something else, but no matter how hard I try to handle glitter (Even big glitter) with the utmost care, I always feel like I have inhaled some and my chest tightens up.
I even have a hard time with all of the greeting cards that have a ton of glitter or diamond dust on them.
I ask DH to hang those ones for me at Christmas. He always gets the mail and he can tell by the "crunchy" feel of the envelope if a card is glittered and he'll open it and display it.
I can however, use glitter glue with no issues.

No furniture or anything else from wood pallets for me either. Those babies are meant for burning and that is it!

DIY Glitter Playdoh. The opening line is "Be the coolest mom on earth..." I will pass on being the coolest mom if it involves glitter and playdoh, thanks.

I don't have a pinterest board/page. Must be the only refupea that doesn't have a pinterest page.
I will admit to looking at a few friends pinterest boards and then got them gifts that they absolutely loved.

I have to admit to not really understanding people buying things from garage sales or thrift stores and then creating something else out of them that they like/want more.
I always see how someone has bought a dress that they altered, or how they turned a pair of pants into shorts, etc. And I can't help think....why didn't you just buy a dress, shorts, etc. that you already like? There are countless variations on the racks of everything I've seen someone turn an article of clothing into.
I just don't get spending the time/money to do that, when for the same price as the original article you get one that is already suitable. So, I will never need to pin any of those ideas.
Likewise, I don't get buying an ugly lamp and spray painting it, or otherwise transforming a decor item into something 'new'. I would just look for one that already fit my decor.
I mean, it's one thing if you already 'have' an ugly dress or tacky lamp, and some extra sewing notions and fabric, or a leftover can of spray paint and are feeling creative and want to reuse what you already have.
But buying something cheap to change, when you can buy something cheap that is what you plan to turn it into it...I just have not been able to wrap my head around that.

I kind of get what you are saying, and I do agree that some of those transformation projects are more costly than just buying something new to start with. However, I have bought stuff to transform, and it's because I can't buy or find what I want -- or within my price range. I have a milk glass lamp to spray paint, and I'm going to paint it turquoise. I don't think I'll find a turquoise milk glass lamp anywhere. 1/2 a can of spray paint, and a 2.00 lamp is way way way cheaper than buying something that isn't exactly what I want, anyway.

I knew plastic spoon projects would make an appearance in this thread. Looks cute from a distance, but I'm guessing it still looks like plastic spoons in person. Not really my style. I'm ok with repurposing, I repurpose items a lot, but not using trash to make items for my home. (plastic spoons, toilet paper rolls, wrappers, pallets) I go by a house almost daily and every time I do I think to myself "Pinterest fail." They have a set of painted tires out in their yard with flowers and a flag pole in them. It's about 7 different tires, 7 different BRIGHT (think neon) colors, stacked in a pyramid. Do you ever look at something and think "Pinterest fail?" lol

Something like that, I could understand, Ashley.
But the things that I am seeing transformed, I know that there are similar things available.
Hard to find, or more expensive items, yes that is different.
And actually, having posted, I did realize that there was one thing I would look for at a garage sale to transform, lol! I saw a shny gold metal gumball machine that I thought was really cool, and I know I'd never find one thrifting. So I did think it would be cool to find one in another colour and spray paint it.
But buying a basic floral long-sleeved dress, and cutting off the sleeves, and altering the neckline, when there are so many similar looking things on the racks at every thrift store...that I just don't get.

Grammy, congrats on future retirement
Tire planters were big in the country when I was a kid, I get nostalgic when I see one. Better repurposed then burned- another country thing.
Toilet paper tubes have been used for crafts forever, but toilet roll mini albums skeeved me. After the early scrap years when everything was supposed to be preservation friendly the idea of toilet spray got to me.
I could see wearing the men's shirt turned skirt, in a former life. But like so many pins it's for another time and place

Oh yes, those examples seem silly.
I have two gumball machines right now that need painting! I never even considered gold. Hmm....

Ashley, I saw one at thrift last night- it was bright pink. I'm tempted to go get it and paint a dark bronze finish for my breakfast room. I hadn't thought of it until this thread, thanks for cute idea.

Aw, I make my kids fun food every Friday and they aren't spoiled!!! I will never, ever, ever make a water-filled glass jar of glitter and other small items into something to give to a toddler throwing a temper tantrum. Because then I'd need one of the eleventy-billion "easiest and purest and best-for-you, toxic, no chemicals, no scrubbing DIY" cleaning solution recipes. My 5 year old that has autism throws things when he's having a tantrum. He all ready ruined a big screen TV. When I saw that on pinterest, I thought WTH?!

Lol My daughter (Aspie) made one in a used arrowhead water bottle. I thin super glued the lid on. She has had it for months and it has yet to pop open, break, or leak. Her brother even got a hold of it and threw it down the stairs. It really does help give her something else to concentrate on. Child life uses real ones when she is getting an IV along with Buzzy. For me, anything from old wood pallets. I have actually made quite a few things from my boards. Dinners, salads, arts/crafts.

Love the gumball machines. I'm actually on the hunt for one. I found the perfect one for a great price on Ebay, but let it go because I didn't want to create an account. I since found another one at a little antique shop. For $250. Thrift stores never have what I'm looking for.
