What did you think?
I was rooting for Ginger...I think she was definitely the most improved.
My husband was hoping for Paige....She really was great and had so much energy.
When Nyle won I was like Although he did an amazing job he really wasn't the best dancer, after all it is a dancing competition.

I think Paige was the best dancer but Nyle was my favorite overall so I was happy with that result

I think Paige was the best dancer too but I was a little put off several weeks ago when they said she had taken dance lessons when she was growing up. I thought they even said her mother was a dancer. I feel like this might have given her an unfair advantage.

I thought it was one of the closest finales...with that being said, I really liked Nyles and was glad he won, but I too thought Paige was the best dancer but like jeremysgirl said...I too think exposing her past dancing did not do her any favors.

I really did feel like this was one of the closest finales than previously. Any of them would have been a good champion. I am glad Nyle won -- the way he danced and kept in time with music he could not even hear was so amazing. And I thought that Peta really took on huge challenges for him to try -- like dancing blindfolded. I loved the routine they did where they turned off all the music for a few seconds so everyone else could experience what it is like for him. They were very worthy of that mirror ball!

I watched some of this season and I was a bit miffed that Nyle won .. even though I "called it" several weeks ago Yes ... he is deaf and it was amazing how he kept time, but that did not make it the best dancer, just the most ... sympathetic. And Peta pandered to the sympathy vote with the blindfold, with the no music ... with pretty much everything they did. Paige was the best dancer IMHO.

I liked all three but I felt that Nyle got the sympathy vote. Same thing last season, Bindi won because she was nice. I wish the competition could be strictly dancing, not other factors as well. I am curious what his next career move is, he's like the new it guy of reality tv.
I was really surprised Paige went as far as she did, you have to have a huge fan base voting for you at home, didn't know she was that big. And didn't she say she was out of the boxing world? I was also surprised she didn't have a cauliflower ear like Ronda Rousey. Yes Paige's parents owned a dance studio and she grew up dancing, but I don't think that's cheating or anything. No different than having singers on the show who are used to chorographed dancing for their shows.
I couldn't believe how fit Ginger looked 6 weeks after having a baby! She seemed really irked being called a "weathergirl". lol I wondered if she flew back and forth with her newborn every week, must have been hard on the baby?

I thought Paige was good, but once I heard she was part of a dance studio, my feelings changed. I rooted for Nyle as how much more difficult it must have been for him to learn to dance and keep in time. While watching his free style I had goosebumps. I'm not usually a fan of contempory dance, but as I type this, the goosebumps are back...I don't goosebump easily. Glad he ended up winning.

I never heard Ginger be offended at being called a weather girl?? in fact she loves the fact she is a science nerd. Unless she wants it known more that she IS a meteorologist, vs the usual weather people that aren't? not sure.
I don't know how we can possibly be mad at Paige for having any dance training? in the past people that have had lots of training have won..ie the ice skaters.
I wanted Paige to win, but wasn't surprised Nyle did, and would have been happy with any of those final 3 winning! I thought it was a great season for everyone complaining there were no stars, on dancing with the stars. ha

I don't think for a second that Nyle won because of sympathy. He was judged just as harshly as everyone else, he had very, very difficult choreography and he was amazing in what he accomplished. To be totally and utterly deaf, meaning he cannot feel even vibrations....it is AMAZING at how great he actually was. My cousin is completely deaf like Nyle and believe me, how Nyle was able to feel the music and keep time, was no easy feat..it took great skill.
I don't think Paige lost because Nyle beat her for sympathy. Nyle's freestyle was outstanding and so very well danced.
It was fitting that Ginger forgot her routine. I got tired of listening to the judges gush over her week after week when she made mistakes. She was overrated and only got as far as she did because she is an ABC employee.
I thought Jodi Sweetin and Wayne were miles better than Ginger and should have gone farther than she did.
I am thrilled for Nyle.

I couldn't stand Ginger. I thought Paige should have won but I was happy with Nyle, I thought he was easily in the top 3 for this season. I also don't think Paige's childhood dance experience should have been a big deal given other contestants histories.
I told my husband last night that I wished they would change this show to Dancing With the Commoners - just pick random people to compete for a season, give the pros a serious challenge. I actually like the pros better than most of the stars anyway.

I've been calling it for Nyles to win for weeks. I imagine that he had loads of people in the deaf community voting for him. No different than American Idol or any other show where the viewers call in.

I liked all three but I felt that Nyle got the sympathy vote. Same thing last season, Bindi won because she was nice. I wish the competition could be strictly dancing, not other factors as well. Pretty much every single person on this show comes up with some sort of reason to get a "sympathy vote". This season alone, remember Paige crying about being bullied at school, and Ginger talking about being anorexic? At least they could have chosen not to talk about those things, if they wanted. Nyle couldn't have hidden his deafness. As far as dancing ability goes, yes, Paige's overall judges' scores for the season averaged out to be 2 tenths of a percent higher than Nyle's. But Wanya's scores averaged out 2 tenths higher than Ginger's. Did she advance farther in the competition than him due to her anorexia story getting her more sympathy votes than his "grew up poor" story? At the end of the day, the format of the show combines judges' scores with viewer votes, and you have to have both to win, and they know that going in.

At the end of the day, the format of the show combines judges' scores with viewer votes, and you have to have both to win, and they know that going in. Every season they all share a hardship they went through. It's always humorous when a star famous for a big scandal like Marla Maples or Paula Dean share some bullshit story. I didn't get any kind of feeling from Ginger's anorexia story. But yes Paige's story did touch me. Wanya is a 90s star, I don't think he had that big a fan base voting for him which is important to winning this show. I'm really shocked people on this thread didn't like Ginger, she seemed so sweet to me. Even when she lost she had a big smile on her face as if she was expecting it but still gracious for the wonderful experience. She seems genuine to me. Paige is 22 years old and honestly she could be feeding us anything to believe as this is a big stepping stone in her career getting more visibility and name recognition.

If you watched good morning America this morning, you would have seen Nyle trying to dance without having rehearsed or Peta guiding him. It was pretty obvious that dancing was not an easy thing for him and they really had to work at it.
I thought all three were great and any of them would have been justified as the winner.

I was good with either Nyle or Paige - but was really happy for Nyle he seems like a great guy.
Ginger was irritated (or seemed to be) with the weather girl comment...she was like 'uh, meteorologist thank you' lol...which I do understand since weather girls typically read the weather etc. - she is a trained and degreed meteorologist and has a degree specializing in the weather!!
The finale is too much - I FF thru most of it to see the results.

I enjoyed Paige but the dance background was a game changer. Celebrities with dance background shouldn't be allowed imo, need a more level playing field

I think it's so predictable the last couple of seasons. Had they done one dance without playing the deaf card. Yes we got it, he can't hear the music, she gives him cues on when to what, but they reminded us of it every.single.episode. They pushed that voted. They bring in sympathetic people and you know they will win. Last year I said the very day they announced Bindy "there's the winner". Sure she lived up to her hype, but she got extra air time, she was publicized well, and they played up the dead daddy card all the time (and I have a dead parent whom I was tears for yesterday so I am not being unsympathetic). The folks missing arms/legs got more air time with their stories. It's like there always has to be a contestant every season with a catch so the other contestants are not only competing against a dance routine they also have to overcome the other contestants life stories.

I agree with all points of views regarding the sympathy vote, or having previous dance background, etc....
BUT, I think we all need to remember that first and foremost it's a TV show and the network seeks ratings.

Nyle lost me when he said his competition was Val. I thought it was very dismissive that he thought that after a couple of weeks, he was on par with years and years of training.

I loved all three. You have to keep in mind that it's not a competition for the "Best" dancer, it's a competition for the most popular dancer. I think people relate to stories of hardship. It make the contestants seem more like average people -- it would be boring if they didn't show the process. I thought all three of them made amazing progress through the season.
ETA: I totally relate to Ginger wanting to be called a meteorologist. That's what she is. "Weather girl" is totally dismissive of her science training.

I would have been happy with either Paige or Nyle, though all 3 finalist were very good.
I think Nyle won because his freestyle dance was very powerful imo.
I did think Paige was a better dancer, and while I liked her freestyle, I think she would have done better with a fast song and very athletic routine.

The gymnasts and ice skaters and boy band boys totally have dance training. Nick Carter last year??? If they are working a career toward acting/ singing (rumer Willis) than they have had dance classes. Also Alfonzo had been in musicals and had dance training as a child actor
Not to do the mom shaming thing, but I think ginger wanted to lose weight and get more famous and killed herself flying back and forth with baby.

Since it's the same channel did they just give her the days off free? Or did she have to use annual leave. Just curious what arrangement they had.
