A couple of times a year 3 friends and I rent a cabin out of town for 4 or 5 nights. Everyone has their own king bed and their own bathroom. We go out to dinner a couple of times, hit the LSS and partake in adult beverages. We get a lot of scrapping done. We are close friends and it is a great getaway for us.
What's your ultimate crop? Have you done it yet, or is it something you will do in the future?

A friend and I just did that and had a fantastic time. We have also done a group retreat sponsored by a scrap store that was at a cabin. That was fun also. When SDV was still in business I attended several of their retreats and always had a good time. I like hanging out with a group of women with the same interests. It's fun to see what others are doing. I guess basically, I like being able to get away and scrap. There's nothing like having that block of time with no distractions.

It is fun to be with others that enjoy scrapping and having a good time. It's really good to be on a " vacation" with friends.

My favorite are the benefit retreat weekend crops that have silent auctions and raffles, and vendors to see some of the new collections firsthand and buy some things. Plus I can doubly justify bidding on the scrapping or stamping auction stuff because it's "for a good cause" LOL. My favorite crops are also long enough to actually get something done and have it feel like a true getaway.

Your event sounds like it would be my ultimate crop event too. I'd like to throw in a hot tub and all of the crafting tools and supplies already there so you don't have to pack. (I hate crop packing).
Scrapping with friends is so much more relaxing to me than complete strangers. Although it is nice to meet people in the hobby, until you build a friendship I can't really relax.
I have never done this. Although both of my nieces scrap now, both live far away. One niece used to come to my house when we lived closer and would spend just a weekend. We'd usually have one really good dinner out but with my family. My husband would take care of the kids and make us grapefruit margaritas and we would just craft til our hearts content. I actually miss it.

Oooh great question! Well I have been to so many crops that many of them had all the aspects of being wonderful overall. But if I had MY perfect crop it would be like this: --It would be at the beach, but since I live within an hour of the beach, that's about how much of a drive I would want to get there and back home. --It would be a small group, maybe 10 people at the most, or if the room was big enough, maybe up to 20. --Our crop room would overlook the water and have great natural light. We would each have our own table and we would be able to leave our stuff and crop as long as we wanted. --Our rooms would be on site and be private rooms. We could go to our rooms and nap or relax and head back to scrapping as we wanted. --The site would have some options for meals. We would be able to have a nice restaurant meal on site. We would have all kinds of snacks and drinks available. --There would be a scrapbook store not far away so we could go there to shop if we wanted. Maybe one or two attendees would also sell stuff that they would bring along to sell on site if we wanted.
Many of the crops I have been to had more than 50% of the items on my list.

Not only does it put me to sleep these days, I'd be afraid of what my layouts would look like, lol. Oooh great question! Except it's two hours to the beach for me. Truth be told, the set up I have w/my one pal is close to perfect for me. No king beds or our own table, but our own room & plenty of scrap space. The house is her brother's, so it's free. It's also right on a body of water (a canal?). We don't cook - it's all takeout or Stouffer's. The LSS just closed, so that is the only thing I would change - to bring it back.

OP, that sounds perfect to me!
I go to one at a great house in the country. It sleeps 12, but 4 twin beds to a room. Ear plugs are a must!
I'd love my own room, meals prepared, and a store to buy things.

I just wish I could find a semi-regular group. I live in a pretty large populated city and it seems that no one scraps..lol

I just visited a place in Lancaster, PA called Cozy Crop House. They provide all meals, they have a store and a great crop area. They have 2 locations - the one I saw sleeps 12. It would be an awesome scrap getaway because you just show up with your stuff it's all set up and ready to go!

OP your weekend sounds wonderful!
dd and I have gone to weekend retreats at a nearby store - 3 full days, with meals, classes and lots of giggling, gossiping, sharing, etc. We would stay nearby so we didn't have to drive far everyday - and it was great.

I've been to the house myboysnme mentioned for a long weekend crop. It was really great! We had awesome meals, could scrap anytime day or night, and had our own bedrooms to get away to for naps . Can't wait yo go back!

The Hamburg Hideaway is another on in PA. I went there a little over a year ago w/a lovely group of ladies I hadn't met before. We made our own meals (which is cheaper, obviously), but the house is cute & there's plenty of room to scrap. It was a lovely getaway.

A group of scrappy friends and I rent a vacation house on the coast. Depending on the house and group, we have have a couple of options. Most of the time we have to arrange the sleeping to fit our group, if there is a bed to share, closer friends share that. I always bring an air mattress and find a spot for me.
We divide the meals among the group. Thursday night is the night we show up so everyone is on their own for dinner. Friday & Saturday, we usually have 3 meals, and everyone is in charge of a meal for all. You shop, cook, clean up your meal and then your cooking is done for the weekend. On Sunday, we only have breakfast and it is usually something simple as we have to be out of the house by noon. Depending on the number of gals staying, you usually have a meal buddy.
We have a snack table for all to contribute too. I bring all the tables and chairs as I have them and am closest to the house.
We rearrange the furniture to set up all the scrap tables together. We also bring and share all our tools, stamps, etc. We decide who is bringing what so we don't all bring our Cricuts. Just Carts. And any thing else we don't mind sharing. Since there is no store, everyone brings all their own supplies, but we do share if some one needs an extra piece of card stock, buttons, etc.
There is usually a place in the house where we can get away to nap, relax etc.
But we go to scrap, so that is the priority. Almost every time, we go on walks to the beach, runs, etc. in groups or individually. Sometimes we have had smaller groups go out to eat at nearby restaurants on Thursday night.
Sometimes we do swaps or page contests, scrappy bingo, etc. You only have to participate if you want to. We often have a goodie bag for everyone, that we all contribute to, with a small $2-3 item for everyone.
It is all pretty relaxing, fun event our core group have been doing for over twelve years.
The cost comes out to about $125. each. Cheap for the California wine country, where the simplest hall can rent for over a $1000. on a Saturday.
I have gone to organized retreats, all day crops, etc. But this is my favorite getaway.

I would love a beach or lake crop! There's just something about seeing water that is so relaxing! I have been to both Cozy Crop Houses in Lancaster, PA, and The Hamburg Hideaway. We liked Hamburg better, but it only holds 10 max, and we sometimes have as many as 13. The Cozy Crop House in Lititz (Lancaster area) has a great lss nearby that we spent A LOT of money at! I have never been to one that has private bedrooms and bathrooms!

When I visited the Cozy Crop House recently they were working on increasing their on site store, which is open 3 evenings a week and then only open to the croppers during getaway weekends. But we also cropped on Friday night at Pages in Time, the LSS that is only about 3 miles away and spent money there too!

We rent a church retreat house with a group of friends. It's cheap, lots of tables and space to spread out and work. We all are responsible for one meal. It has four bedrooms with 4 twin bunk beds in each room. We keep it small so no one has to sleep on a top bunk. More comfy beds and chairs (like if I could take my office chair with me) would make it perfect.
