Good morning ladies!! I hope you're all having a successful week! I'm still chugging along here. Eating is going well and I'm staying on top of my exercise. Today I have my annual gyn appt today. I haven't been in 3 years. But I have the birth control Implanon that needs to come out and I want to get another one put in so I have to go. Not really looking forward to it but the nice thing is that I think the last time I was there I was 40-50 lbs heavier. Not a whole lot planned for today other than that. I hope you ladies have a fantastic day!! ETA: I know everyone loves a good comparison photo. I posted the pic on the left yesterday on IG in a comparison photo but I'm wearing the same dress today so I updated the comparison photo. The pic on the left was taken last August when dh and I went to Kinky Boots in Boston. Pic on the right, this morning. I don't know exactly what I weighed last August but I want to say I was about 45 lbs heavier.

Oh @brandy, I know what you mean about going to the gyn. Wish we all had melissa nearby! I have not been in 3 years either. I used to go EVERY year until we moved here. I just haven't found someone I am comfortable with. I have got to go. Ugh! And I know they will be SO proud to see your weight loss. I have another dreaded appointment today--the dentist!!! Ugh! Now that's one thing that has changed since we moved. I went yearly for my female exams/physicals and never went to the dentist in TX. But we found a great dentist here in NC, and I love my hygenist. She is SO awesome and never gives you the "you could do better" lecture. I go every 6 months. I still hate it but she makes it tolerable. Still doing good this week, and I found a new 4 pt. ice cream at Wal-Mart yesterday. It's the Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. They had a few other flavors too. It was great for 4 pts. We will have pork chops tonight with a veggie. Something easy as I don't like to cook. My poor family. LOL! Anyway, have a great day everyone!

I've been going to the same office since before I was pregnant with 13yo ds and while everyone there is very kind and I always have the best of intentions of going each year, I put it off and put it off and then never go. I also chalk it up to the fact that I see 2 other doctors (rheumetologist & a GI) on regular basis and that's my limit. I really need to make a point of going each year though - part of that whole treat myself better & being healthier thing. I have a good friend that missed one single yearly appt (went at 18 mons instead of 1 year) and developed breast cancer in that time. I'll be 40 next year so I know I need to be better about it. Good luck at the dentist! I didn't go to the dentist for nearly 20 years and when we moved here 11 years ago, I decided it was time to set a good example for the kids and found one. LOVE everyone at our office. I go 3 times a year and I don't dread it like I used to.

Rest day for me--heavy squat day on Tuesday and yesterday's workout had box jumps, a ton of thrusters, and hand stand push ups. I slept like a rock! I'll still go in to the gym to see my coach that's a massage therapist to work on a tweaky spot.
Keep up the good work everyone!

My day looks like a cake walk compared to these doctor appointments. It's my last day of post-planning and it's only a half day.
I had a great Yoga class last night. My instructor is so positive and encouraging; I come away feeling limber, light, and motivated. Now...to find a way to maintain that positive energy in the reality of my life.
I hope to carry some positive energy with me as I get in a long walk tonight.

For the kids they'll go by quickly because all 3 of them have field trips...my girls, because they're in 5th grade and "graduating" elementary school have 3 field trips in the next 8.5 days. LOL As one teacher said to me yesterday, "it's just crowd control at this point". LOL Lots of movie watching and game days.

I can sympathize as I've been having tastes of stuff I shouldn't be eating lately and it makes it that much harder to stay on track. This week I've been better and have again cut out most of the processed foods but I'm STILL craving them. I think everyone understands that the willpower bit is the hardest part...it's SUCH a mental game. Hang in there, my friend!! You can do it!

It's not supposed to be a gym day today but my boss is away for the week so I think I'm going to take off early and slip in a chest day. My legs are feeling the deadlifts from yesterday and I figure I should do something to make my upper body hurt too. I'm noticing that my skinny jeans are fitting a bit tighter through my thighs so it looks like I'm finally getting some leg growth. Hopefully, by the end of the summer, I'll have to buy a new wardrobe.
My eating sucked yesterday - I was way under on calories and most of it was crap. I'll try to do better today.
Breakfast - egg white oatmeal with nuts, cacao nibs and a banana (coffee goes without saying) Lunch - I think a chicken and egg sandwich Snack - protein shake Dinner - steak or chicken with rice and a roasted beet salad

Today I have my annual gyn appt today. I haven't been in 3 years. I'll confess - it's been at least that long for me, probably longer. I'm good about going to the dentist 2x a year, but I don't go for any types of annual physicals, aside from annual bloodwork. Even with exercising 8 hrs a week, I have gained 4 lbs over the last 2 weeks. I know why, and it's really bothering me. I hope that it's just a passing thing; keep at it!
I had a really bad day for food yesterday. We have a lot of "food days" at work and normally, I don't cave into the treats, but I did yesterday. Hard. Today is a new day though.
Ran dog agility last night - worked with my dog and two other dogs - all border collies. They made me run! It was fun. I've also been participating in a 31 day challenge with some of my running friends and yesterday included a 120-second plank. Yikes! I had finally gotten the 90-second plank down, and now I get extra time added on. I did better than I thought I did, but still had to drop to my knees for a few seconds during the last 30-seconds. One week left in the challenge; it will end with a 150-second plank. I'm happy with myself for keeping up every day. We post on FB in our group when we have completed the challenge for the day.
Tonight I will ride my bike and then swim with my triathlon group.

Hey all!
Yesterday was a good day for me - other than a quick finger taste of an icing sample for a couple picking up a sample box, I was completely on track. DH even made toast & cheese last night (bread under the broiler then cheese, all melty and good) and I didn't have any. Made my own with the low carb bread I had made - it wasn't nearly as good. I'm not feeling the low carb bread at all. I'd rather go without - should have just had the cheese!
Heavy duty work day today - baking, sugar flowers galore to make too. This weekend is the cake where the bride said "my family is from New York and cake is THE most important thing of the wedding" - it has a full cascade of sugar flowers, can't wait to see it come to life!!

Light day at work today, 1/2 of the providers are in, so less people to check in an make future appointments for. So I am working on starting a bullet journal, I want to try and keep track of meal planning, shopping for groceries, blood sugar, and what I eat. I hope it works for me...

I hate doctor's appointments- mine all seem to fall in the same month. Dentist is next month and I've been putting off a crown for a cracked tooth for a while now. Guess I've been lucky it hasn't broken. More $ to spend...

Good morning all. Fifteen days left of work for me . I went for 2 walks yesterday for a total of 45 minutes. I was just shy of 10,000 steps on my Fitbit. I made it to 9,300 something. I am not worrying about my food this week. I normally under eat for breakfast and lunch but then have a really unhealthy dinner so I am trying to think ahead to doing better with that. I don't know if I should wait until I am done with work so meal prep will be easier.
Anyway it is raining today so I don't know what to do about my walk. Ideas?

I appreciate the thought but I gave up routine office gyn years ago. I am now considered a specialist of sorts, a hospitalist. When I started doing this over 10 years ago, I was a pioneer. Now there are organizations for us and we are slowly being recognized. Sadly, I think that it means there will be special additional training programs for this later on, but I hope I will be retired by then! I hear you, brandy327, about just not adding in more doctors. I feel the same. I see my internist a few times each year (she is also a pulmonary specialist), I see my oncologist yearly and my breast surgeon yearly. I will likely be dismissed from the breast surgeon next week, but I have added a hand surgeon and endodontist to my list. I need to add a GI doc at least for a colonoscopy and yes, even I need to go back to the gyn. I'd been going to a gyn onc's office, but anyone would do. We got back from Hawaii yesterday and we are back on the road today to Ohio. I may have made a mistake stepping on the scale this morning but perhaps it was a good thing to get me back in line. It was up 3.5 lbs from when we left. We did have Chinese food for dinner and that always temporarily raises my weight, so a little is that, but certainly not all. <sigh> I will probably spend all of June getting back to where I was.

Ugh, I can not always see the pictures at work so I can't see your before and after Brandy Bummer, I'll have to wait until tonight! Yesterday my walking sucked. But today I'm back in the office and we will do two or three 15 minute walks, depending on our meetings. And I have dog training tonight, so another good mini sweat session

My daughter had a GREAT hospitalist when she was in a hospital last year. She was truly the only one on the team we felt we could count on. I bet you are a blessing! And I gained 3 lbs. from our vacation. I hated to step on the scale too but was glad I did because it did get me back in line. I am sure you will get rid of it quickly. And Mom and Dad are headed to Ohio. Most of our family is there so they are going back to visit. Welcome back home!

I'm just back from a fortnights vacation in the US. I ate whatever I fancied and walked an average of 10 miles a day. I weighed this morning and am so pleased to report only a 2lb gain. I'm back on track today. So I'm home early today. My daughter's been complaining of chest pain for about a week and I called for an appointment. Instead, we ended up in the ER per nurse's order. They couldn't fit her in today and didn't want to mess around with chest pain so to the ER we went. Thankfully it isn't anything serious. There's some giant long fancy medical name for it, but basically the muscles in her chest are inflammed/hurting/pulled and it hurts when she does anything like laugh, take deep breaths, or coughs. She'll be fine. She needs to take tylenol/motrin and ice it and follow up with peds later. So, now I'm home trying to grade. OMG! I hate these stupid tests!!!!! I want to cry, but I have to get them done to work on finishing my SLO (Student Learning Outcome...what a flipping pain in the butt!--for my evaluations each school year). This is due TOMORROW! I don't wanna do it! Wahhhhh! Eating's been fine. I didn't want my lunch, so I improv'd with some avocado, so pretzel thins, and a protein shake with 2 TBSP of PB2 and a frozen banana. I'm so full! I'm up to 6,000 steps already...may or may not get to 10,000 b/c of my injured foot. HUGE bruise over the top going from pinky toe to the second toe. OWWWW!!!! Can't put on closed shoes, so I may be shy this week of hitting my goal, but it'll have to do. brandy327 YOU LOOK AWESOME! Great picture--love seeing the difference. Whooo hoooo! littlefish I'm looking down the barrel of 12 more days and 1 professional day. I want to cry right now! I'm glad you're almost at the end!

missfrenchjessica, costochondritis perhaps? Breathing hurt when I had it! Well, started off the day nicely with some yogurt. Those Yoplait yogurts are still the only dairy based ones I like and even then, just some flavors. I did try coconut milk based yogurt which was nice because it did not have that yogurt taste. Dh bought me soy based yogurt and I hated it. This drive to Ohio is pretty monotonous and our choices are quite limited. We always seem to stop at Burger King, but I nixed it this time. Where did we stop instead? Arby's. Not really any better but at least I like roast beef more than burgers. I had thought about packing healthier choices for this drive (10 hours) but ended up feeling post-call all day yesterday. We took a red eye home and I had the non-reclining seat and did not sleep. Left Hawaii at 2pm, landed at 6:30am.

I have put myself on the 3 day DL. My hips are really bothering me and my body is telling me to rest...so I am. I am not good at listening to my body but I need to and just be okay with not running for 3 days. I think I may survive my super busy week at work - once I can get through this week it's smooth sailing for a few months. 21 days until we leave on vacation...I am so ready for that!
Today was the last day of school for my highschooler. He starts his summer job Monday so hopefully we can do something fun this weekend before he starts.

I have put myself on the 3 day DL. My hips are really bothering me and my body is telling me to rest...so I am. I am not good at listening to my body but I need to and just be okay with not running for 3 days. That's good - rest will be worth it in the long run. These myrtl exercises are great post-run stretches and help me greatly with my hips. I do them immediately after long runs, in addition to my other static stretches.

Dalai Mama, my secret is to be a teacher in May/early June. That's a whole level of exhaustion there. Honestly, I think it was just a combo of Murph on Sunday, heavy high-volume squats on Tuesday, and a high-volume squat metcon Wednesday. I could barely keep my eyes open past 9:45! brandy327 great comparison photo! alexa11 my workouts make my legs and butt hurt too, but they are paying off! missfrenchjessica, I'll have two post planning days and a 3 day math academy after the kids leave, so I'm not out of the woods yet. Plus they're adjusting the calendar so we're off school Memorial Day next year, so my summer is only 7 weeks--6 with the extra days.

I have HUGE respect for almost all of the doctors I see/have seen. And I totally understand them wanting to see you annually but most of the doctors I see are specialists, which for me means a $60 copay each time. That adds up...add to that when they want to do bloodwork it's an additional $120. I make sure to see my rheumetologist at least once a year (since I take a pretty hefty med through her) and I try to see my GI each year (also taking meds through him). Oh and my dermatologist once a year for a skin check. Beyond that, I don't WANT to see more doctors. LOL But I do make sure that I don't miss my every 3 year appt with my gyn. Although after today's experience, I probably will NOT see the same doctor ever again. My MIL was in the hospital last summer for a UTI and she had a hospitalist. Care to tell me more about what it is you do? Sorry about the gain. Vacation happens though and I hope you enjoyed yourself. I'd really pound the water and stick to as many whole foods as you can for the next couple of weeks.

Ladies! You are all doing such an amazing job. You inspire me! melissa I love the McDonalds grilled chicken Mexican salad. Don't use the dressing. Just squeeze the lime over it.
