Had never heard of it and had to follow your link to see what it was. Very curious about it!

It looks interesting but I wonder how it's supposed to be more efficient if you have to take and upload a photo on an extra mat that you now have to buy. (Hello run-on sentence.) Seriously, though, I'll have to see this in action first. ETA: Now that I've seen this video, I'm wholly onboard. blog.silhouetteamerica.com/2014/08/introducing-the-new-pixscan.html

I'm excited about this. I have some project that I've been wanting to do and this will let me to it. I'm wondering how accurate it will be? I would think a scanned image would be more accurate than a picture.

I just got the email about it this morning. I followed the link, and it does look interesting.

I am so excited about this! I would love to cut out stamped images. I un - installed version 3 and have been waiting for them to work out the kinks. Version 3.1 is supposedly coming out and this might be the reason I'll finally upgrade.

This looks really cool. It was just released yesterday. So unless you were part of the beta testing, you couldn't have tried it. I didn't find any of the new products on Amazon last night. Hopefully there will be some today, as I have a week with the kids at camp and I'm going to wallow in some me time!
The only thing I wonder about is if you get distortion with the camera not being perfectly parallel to the mat. I think the camera slant now is just so that they could get pictures of the process. But I'm willing to try it.

I am so excited about this! I would love to cut out stamped images. You already can cut out stamped images. But you need to scan them, import them, then trace. I think this is intended to replace the scan and import steps. That the intent is that you have an app, take the picture, and it's automatically imported into Silhouette Studio. I almost bought SS this week, but never had the time to sit down and do it. Drat! I think the price went up (it's $99 now).

I am really excited about this! I couldn't justify the scan n cut even though I think it's really cool. hopefully now I can do the same thing with my cameo!

Although there are extra steps with the Cameo, you can scan and import scanned images of stamps. If they are clear stamps, you can cut the shapes for them ahead of time, then stamp. Red rubber is a bit more difficult to do that way, but you can always treat the rubber as a print & cut. Or you can have the rubber stamp face up, carefully lay the matching cut shape on top and use a brayer.
I do not have the Scan & Cut. I think the advantage they have is that you can scan and cut a stamped image without those extra steps. For me this works well, especially for my clear stamps. I have scanned the stamps I use the most and made cutting file shapes that match my favorites. Then I cut the mats from whatever cardstock matches my layout, stamp on them, color with Copics or colored pencils if desired, and adhere them to my page. It's pretty easy as long as you don't have the matching shape/mat cut suoer close to the edge of the stamped image.
The CTMH Cricut cartridges essentially use the principle of cutting the matching shape first and stamping second. Since CTMH uses clear stamps, it works pretty well.

I am hoping that the PixScan works smoothly so that I don't have to scan and trace first. I've done that once and made cut files of a favorite CTMH stamp set. My scanner is on the printer that isn't hooked up to my laptop so it's less convenient for me.

Thanks for all of the replies. I was just curious if anyone had tried it. I didn't know that it was new. I saw a video on you tube about it and thought maybe someone had some feed back on it. Thanks again.

I ordered one and the shipping is awful! I figure I just need one though so this should last me a good long while. I am excited. I hate fussy cutting and I have a bunch of great copic colored images a friend colored for me a while back. I will now be able to scan these and cut them out with little effort. Yes!

I have ordered the mat (I know, shipping was awful), but I think it will be wonderful to expand the capabilities of the Cameo. I am particularly interested in being able to use it to print colors from my printer that will perfectly align with embossing folders. Not sure of the steps involved, but I have had some success with capturing images of embossing folders from Internet, tracing them, coloring them with the program then printing out before using embossing folder on the designs. Images that have a strong black and white image for the embossing folders work best (Darice folders have a lot of these), But I ramble--I think with this new mat, I could emboss something, then color in raised areas with Sharpie, then use scan mat to get into the Silhouette program, esp if I outline the area of the exact size of the embossing folder on the paper I embossed. Then I can use it as my main template to change colors, etc and easily color, print, then emboss. Heck, I could also do that with the background areas of the embossing folder too. Just one of the projects I want to try once I get my mat "and" Silhouette America releases the update on the software. I assume the software will compensate for any skewing that might occur when photographing the mat with the project on it.

I really want to try this. I already do the scan/trace method which works, but is a lot of steps and time. I am hoping this will shorten the process. I also really like the roll feeder for vinyl that was announced at the same time. I have several rolls of vinyl that I use. It will be nice to have a feeder to help keep them aligned when feeding.

It's only $3.42 shipping for me. I wonder why it's $10 for some of you? Are you not in the US?
ETA: I just bought it! I'll let you know how it goes when I get it.

Silhouette has free shipping on orders over $25 today. Thank goodness. I couldn't buy the mat last week for the Portrait because it was going to be $11 in shipping...on a $15 mat. So today I got the mat and a replacement blade and free shipping.

Drat! I wish I would have waited a day for free shipping. Oh well, I guess in the grand scheme of things it was only $3.42 for shipping and that's not too much.

Oh wow! This sounds so easy! Print and Cut hasn't worked well for me so I wonder if this will be a good solution. Thanks for posting, I think I missed the email.
