I love this thread! I amuse myself at stores trying to deduce what I can from the contents of carts. And yes, sometimes I just have to ask. People have so far been pleasant when I asked.
For or the lady in the OP, I vote party of some sort. And a rather nice one at that. Poached pears. Bananas Foster. Lemon drops. Or lemon to go with fresh fish. Carrots? Crudités, maybe. Or those pretty carrot roses.
Anybody paying that much for organic produce isn't just throwing a bbq with hot dogs.

Maybe she is imitating that Freelee chick from YouTube. She claims to eat 50 bananas per day.
I feel crazy typing the previous sentence, obviously I have been eavesdropping too much on my girls.

::alternate pea thread:: "A PEA WWYD? So there I was, at natural grocer buying my weekly organic fruits and vegetables for juicing. This lady and her family behind me kept looking at what I had in my cart, and I'm pretty sure I even got her counting how many bags of pears I had! Would you have said something to her? I thought about telling her that if she was so interested she could sure pay for my groceries, but I was tired after a long day and picking out all of the vegetables and fruit I needed." I'm just kidding, I would have noticed that as well. I think she is having jaw surgery, and has to have liquid meals for 2 weeks, so she was just stocking up. We had to be on a digestive healing diet for a long time and the only fruits our two boys could handle at the time were very ripe bananas and pearsauce. We would buy 36 pears every few days in order to prep them, cook them, and process them into pearsauce. When we would shop, all we had was meat and lots of fruits and veggies and lots and lots of pears. Plenty of people stared and commented. The cashiers knew us as the pear people. LOL. The comments never bothered us because they were usually just about how healthy our groceries were or nice questions about why we had so many pears! It was strange looking, so I understood.

She runs a monkey/bunny rescue. The monkeys are particular about their pear slices, so the lemons are to keep them from browning.

I think she was going to put together sacks of fruits and veggies to give to the homeless/less fortunate.

Since our church was collecting 75 boxes of kid friendly cereal to donate to a church camp the first thing my mind went to bulk buying for a camp, vbs, etc

Maybe she's making a few batches of homemade limoncello with all of those lemons.

I can't tell you how many times in the course of different jobs I've been the person with the curious shopping cart/pull cart/pallets. I worked in radio promotions early in my career. My large quantity purchases for stunt promotions we were doing at different times included Stick-up Air fresheners, Lipton Chicken Cup a Soup packets, pallets of Lucky Charms and more that I've forgotten about. I also organized a mall-wide Halloween Trick or Treating event and filled a panel van with candy for the event. (That makes me sound like the person your mother warned you about.) I answered lots of questions and got lots of WTF looks on those shopping days! I believe your shopper just rescued an ape, her pet rabbit had babies, is making pear jam to sell at her church bazaar, and her kids are opening a lemonade stand this summer to raise money for abused cats.

She's make glass jars with preserved fruits/veggies and has a specific color pallet in mind. She doesn't care that she's spending more for organic because that's just the way she shops normally.

Juicing. I'm surprised I haven't seen my grocery belt items on here yet. If I'm juicing for the week it's 4 bags celery, 20 cukes, 2 bunches kale, 1 bok choy, 12 lemons, 10 limes, bag of oranges, 3 bags green apples, ginger root. I've definitely had the gal at Aldi ask my what I was doing with it all.
