I'm so sorry.
That would make me just so sick.
And now I have to go check my banking online.

I check all of our accounts (through Mint) several times a day. I'm pretty paranoid about these things and our credit cards have been compromised 3 times over the last few years.

Meanwhile my bank kept transferring money from my savings account to checking for them so they could keep going. Your bank's security did not catch this... that is appalling to me! live in NC and the transactions were all in California. Even worse! They should have software designed to catch this sort of thing. I have 2 suggestions. One is to get rid of your debit card. There is no need for it. Yes, this can happen with a credit card, but the money will not come out of your account. If you are concerned with debt because of using a credit card, pretend it is a debit card. Only spend what you have. Keep track on your own. Second, consider changing banks to a more national bank if you are using a local or regional bank. They obviously do not have the most up to date security measures in place.
