I loved it. Did not watch it when it was on regular season. I binge watched it on Netflix. I am another one who wanted to be a Braverman. I longed for the closeness of the adult children. I never had that kind of relationship with my parents or sibling. I also never had that type of relationship with my parents or sister (we're estranged), but raising a similar family to the Bravermans (we have 2 boys and 2 girls), I hope we will one day!

I loved that show, and cried when it ended. It felt like I lost my family. lol I'm pathetic, I know. This was me too! DH actually kept the last episode on DVR and would watch it here and there. He was pretty sad when we had to get a new DVR box

I think it's a slow burn for a lot of people. I'd watch five or six episodes. You'll know by then if it's not for you.
As an aside, it was produced and written, at least initially, by the same people who produced Friday Night Lights so there are some similarities in that the characters are believably written and portrayed. And both shows weren't afraid to take on tough subjects and, for the most part, did a great job in dealing with those subjects.

I wanted to like it but couldn't get into the first few episodes when it was new. Later I caught a mid-season episode and it had mellowed a bit. I watched another and was hooked.
That happens a lot with me and series. I think early episodes are so intent on defining characters or issues that bigger concept gets lost.
