Yes...I am clearly way behind on GOT. DS keeps telling me that I have to watch it but damn...I am 5 or 6 seasons behind? Is this show really that good that it is worth my going back that many seasons to watch from the beginning?

It isn't for everyone. My mom refuses to watch it because, as she says, "Nothing good ever happens to those people." However each season is only 10 episodes so if you decide to try it the seasons will go by quickly.

I started watching the first episode 4 times before I ever finished it. There was too much darkness, but I stuck with it. And yes, it's worth it!

Yes. I watched continuously through season three, then stopped for whatever reason during four and five. I finally binge watched those two seasons last fall, and am now addicted again. Except for a couple of weaker storylines, I think it's still as good as it was when it first started.

I fast forward through the battles and most of the deaths. It goes really fast that way!

Yes. What you have to do is binge the first 3-4 episodes. Then you will be completely hooked. That's how I got hooked. And tonight's episode is an absolute MUST SEE. It was that f-ing good.

It depends are you a puppy & rainbow type person or do you appreciate real grit? Is there a little dig in there? I am presently on episode 11 of season 4 of OITNB so I am not sure if that puts me in the puppy/rainbow category or real grit. some of my other favorites were Fargo, Hannibal, Weeds, The Walking Dead, Homeland, Sons of Anarchy etc I do like puppy/rainbow shows like Grey's and Nashville and Empire though. I still couldn't get into Game of Thrones. I never got past the second episode though. Save

Not worth watching since I don't have HBO with DirecTV. I don't want to pay $40.00 a season to watch it on Amazon Prime. I can wait. I just started season 1 of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Yes. I found the first season really hard to get through, it just seemed to hard to follow at first. But I stick with it and now I am hooked.

Our favorite show...ever. Granted we have been hooked on the books for 15 years, so we are thrilled. We are loving them. We rewatch, we own the previous seasons even though we have HBO go. It is dark, you get mad because people you learn to love die. but if you have read the books you know most of what will happen until this current season. They did an amazing job on the casting and it is amazing!!

SaveI've read all the books and really enjoyed them-but couldn't get into the tv series. My son, on the other hand, has read all the books and hardly watches tv at all but wouldn't miss this series for the world. He loves them both.

Maybe. LOL DH started out with it, and loved it, then he got over it, and hasn't watched the last 2-3 seasons.

However each season is only 10 episodes so if you decide to try it the seasons will go by quickly. If it seems to be good, it is going to turn bad. I might start buying the DVDs if they show up in the $10 box at Christmas.

Just watch it for Peter Dinklage. He alone is worth watching.
My husband loved the books. Though he said the last one he wasn't so fond of. I'm on book 1. And he has said many things are different between the two medias.

Would you say that the feel of this show is close to something like Spartacus? I ask because my husband and bff likes that kind of crap but I can't and I leave the room and go watch star trek and harry potter. lol.

I was hooked, totally hooked during the first 3 seasons, then it became blah for me.
My dh never liked it, said each episode seemed to be bad stuff, bad stuff, bad stuff, shocking death, bad stuff.

When GOT first started - it looked exactly like my kind of show - I watched a few episodes and it was just too bloody for me so I stopped watching. I just couldn't stick with it.

There's a reason they call it "Tits and Dragons". If you don't care to see lots of nudity (mostly female), rape, torture and your favorite characters being killed, this may not be the show for you. I do like the show and this season has been can't miss for me. However, I did delay watching the previous two seasons because it was just too dark while I was battling cancer.
The acting is pretty good across the board and Peter Dinklage is top notch. CGI can be give or take but the battle scenes are very well choreographed. Overall, I think the show is well made and dammit I want to know who Jon Snow's parents are which means I'll keep watching to the bitter end.

It is really violent. I started off only watching it on my laptop so I could close the lid on the violent parts
Between it and outlander I think I've gotten used to it. But I did have to turn the sound off in parts last night.
So no you dont have to watch it.. but it is fun..
