The supposition is that they used to be the BerenSTEIN Bears, but that the name got changed to BerenSTAIN. I remember it as BerenSTEIN. Apparently I remember wrongly. My daughter and I were just discussing this! It was always an "a" but people naturally think of the more commonly seen "e" spelling. We were laughing about the parallel universe conspiracy theory. Everyone who has a wild thought chalks it up to a conspiracy theory, apparently. |

I don't know if I have an original, but my books are 30 years old. I pulled them out not too long ago for my grandson. I just checked them and they are called Berenstain Bears. I probably have the same as you, gloryjoy.. Do you have the one titled "He Bear She Bear"? Mine is copyright 1974. I chuckled a little when I read it to my grandson recently. It is about the jobs either a male or female can do. Society has made many changes since that book was written. I had to google the theory the OP mentioned. I think I have only seen the name spelled Berenstain. I do have that book! |
