Any more news about offline? I agree with scrapnnana I don't want Silhouette or Cricut to fail or do bad. Competition is the best and gives us choices. I get so weary of their little problems that become big problems. I have to deal with that in gaming and I don't want to deal with it over craft machines, lol. I would LOVE a heavy duty Silhouette machine. That would be a powerful machine. Yes, I know they have the Curio. I always loved my Cricut cartridge images. I have no interest in their store. I love Silhouette's store though. I can always found a treasure. Nothing against either companies stores. I like to own my design and not have a cloud copy. I am still using my ScannCut a lot. That was a good machine for me. I love being able to upload my files on my USB stick and just being able to use my scraps or cut a file quickly. I got my Gypsy back, lol. I am still using my Cricut for my cartridge images. I can't quit my Summer in Paris files, lol. I love my ScannCut for scanning/cutting combo. I love having my own personal files ready to go when I need them. I love, love, love scanning a piece of paper in and adding my files exactly where I want them on that paper. Love that feature for pattern paper. I still love the Cricut & Cameo for paper piecing. I won't even use the ScannCut for cutting heavy materials, glitter paper or acetate. Still using my Cricut or Cameo. I would love to have a Explore 2 in Silhouette style. That would be a good match for me. Have they improved the Cricut Maker's speed?

I think the Cricut Maker's speed will not change unless they come out with a newer model.
I have been using my Scan N Cut more lately. Now I understand better what the scanner can see and what it can't. It has been great for cutting out my stamped images and making coordinated mats.
I still use my Cameo the most, especially for design work. I use my Explore for cutting leather and the Cricut designs I've bought. Lately I have been using all three of my electronic cutters.
I'm working on a Disney Christmas album now, and no one has Disney cutting files except Cricut. If I can't find what I want in the Cricut files, then I find a coloring page or clip art and use the Silhouette software to turn it into a Silhouette cutting file.
I have never found any Disney Christmas themed scrapbook papers, but Cricut does have some Disney Christmas paper piecings. No one else seems to offer them, so I assume that Cricut got an exclusive on Disney cutting files.

scrapnnana Thank you for the Maker comment. I was leaning towards that idea too that it would take a Cricut Maker 2 to fix the speed of the machine. I am a patient person but I think how slow the machine is would try my patience. Maybe, that is why Cricut is looking offline because they know this is an issue with their online software. I was wondering if a machine like that would be able to transfer the packets at a decent speed. I guess it couldn't. I bought a lot of paper in the Spring so I could play with my ScannCut. Then I had a very stressful Spring and couldn't cut out the paper until this Summer. I had a very large stack of paper that was double sided. This Summer I set down and tried to cut out patterns and all I got was frustration. Sometimes it would read, or it wouldn't read or it would be in between. After a stressful night of trying to cut I tell my DH about the problem. Girls are you ready for this? My DH said "It is double sided paper. It is trying to read two patterns!" ROFL! I am felt so goofy. Talk about user error. Now, if it is one sided paper I get perfection using my machine. Now, I have a lot of pattern paper that I bought only to cut the images from. I have been setting down and fussy cutting them. Lesson learned. Cricut has the license to Disney, Marvel, Star Wars & Sanrio. To be fair Disney does own Marvel & Star Wars so it is not really a separate entity. Silhouette has the license to Precious Moments & they did have Strawberry Shortcake Both had a license to DC.

amaylylac, do you think the Scan N Cut would read the patterns (of double sided paper) better if you used a temporary adhesive to back the patterned paper with a black paper or thin cardstock? The added thickness might be an issue, but it would hopefully minimize the image from the back from showing through in the scan. I have not tried cutting patterns out of decorative paper yet, but I mainly bought the machine for cutting out my stamped images so I could stop buying dies.
I have a lot of black and white line drawings with patterns on both sides. Most are just clip art. There have been times when I was scanning one of the double sided clip art patterns with my printer scanner, and I had to put black cardstock on top of the item being scanned. Otherwise the second side showed through.
The blade will cut into the black paper or cardstock underneath, so you'd need a ream of black paper or cardstock to use. You wouldn't be able to keep using the same sheet over and over. I definitely do NOT recommend Washi tape to hold the papers together! Not after Washi got caught inside my machine. I would use repositionable adhesive if I were to try this.
There is one other option, though. I recently scanned a design from a patterned journal paper to use on a card. I didn't want to lose the journal page by cutting it apart. I just scanned it on my printer scanner. That preserved my journal page.
If you are selling what you make by cutting the patterned paper, using a scanner copy would probably not be legal. If you are scanning patterned paper you have bought, then cutting the scan, and it is just for personal use, I do not see a problem. It may not be quite as nice as cutting the original, though.

scrapnnana I noticed when I added the extra Cricut mat to my ScannCut mat I got better results with double sided paper. I do think black cardstock might help. I think by the time I set up the black cardstock I could just could cut some images by hand. I do love your idea. I got good results on pastel scans like black & white copy. I bought a frame page that was black and white. The back was pastel. Cutting something like BoBunny or Graphic 45 has way too much deep colors for both sides of the pages. It is just way too much digital for the machine to comprehend and input correctly. I know this is not Brother's fault. I am trying to do something that is not a technological advancement yet. I have a bad habit of trying to push the envelope on my digi tools, lol. I never sell my craft work. I scan things in all the time too. I am really glad the major companies are starting to sell our paper as a digital copies. I love this more than buying physical. I can get all the pretty designs but customize it for me. Of course if archival is a big worry then physical paper is always the way to go.
I agree NO to washi. I keep seeing so many people use washi tape on their mats. I have been using artist removable tape. No problems. That is how I taped my Cricut mat down to the ScannCut.

I wish PC/Cricut would make a mat like the Silhouette PixScan mat. I used the PixScan mat on with my Portrait to cut out flowers that I had stamped out yesterday, and the cuts were almost perfect. I couldn't have cut them more perfectly with dies. I've tried using the Snap Mat function with the Cricut Explore Air, but you can't do the same thing. I love my Expore Air for everything else, though.

What is wrong with the Maker speed? I still have my original Explore. Don't do the extras that the Maker offers and my Explore still works. I do hate the fact that I can no longer buy Disney cartridges from Cricut anymore because I'm Canadian. I was able to get Frozen because I had a friend who went south for the winter and she picked me up a physical copy. Now that Cricut is going mostly digital, that won't help me anymore. I'll just have to find images online to import into Design Space. I really do hope they decide to offer an off line mode for the computer. That would help me out greatly with my crappy internet!

OntarioScrapper, a bluntly honest review of someone who had bought the Cricut Maker said she was very unhappy about how incredibly slow it cut her fabric. She said she could cut much faster by hand.
When I first saw the Explore at a scrapping convention, they had a huge ring with sample materials, including leather that is heavier than what I cut with my Explore Air 2. I think they also had thin balsa. The Explore machines will cut most of the same materials as the Cricut Maker.
I was not happy that the roller blade could only be used with the Cricut Maker, because other than the unique blades, the Maker does not really offer me much more than what I can do with my Explore.

I noticed also that new tools now are only for the Maker. They clearly have stopped making the Explore any better than it is. Though the Explore is just fine for my needs. I take forever to upgrade. I upgraded to the Explore when I got sick and tired of crappy circles with my Expression 2 and well I liked the idea of using images outside of the Cricut library and fonts!

OntarioScrapper There are some blog posts and YouTube videos showing the Maker's speed. It is very slow. The rotary blade has to take a lot of time to process the nodes. No knocking Cricut from me over this issue. This is Cricut's first foray into this kind of machine. It is going to be buggy. Even with all the past Cricut drama's over the years I do think that Cricut really does want the Maker to succeed and they are addressing these problems. The tech girl in me wonders if they can be addressed or will they need to make a new machine. I think they would rather address these issues before making a new machine. That is why I think they are going offline. I do think the Maker will transfer packets faster offline and not be so slow. I bet that machine's speed will improve 50% if it is offline. I have the Explore One without the bluetooth. I am happy with mine too. I had no desire to upgrade to the other Explore's that have been released over the years. My Explore does what I need it to do and that's all I ask, except for offset and being offline, lol. I do a lot of work in textiles though so I would like the Maker because it would be a good fit for my kind of art work, especially my dolling. There are some Maker issues before I dole out that kind of money I want to be fixed. Cricut made a machine that other die cutters will need to follow to keep up with. Patience and time are going to be the winner for me. I am content with my Explore, and like scrapnnana, I can cut out everything from my Explore that the Maker does. I am glad that finally die cutter companies are expanding to other craft industries like textile artists, sewists, & miniaturists. Providing us with advanced technologies. Silhouette is coming out with a fabric blade too. I am waiting patiently for that one to see which machine will fit my needs. You all know I am nitpicky when it comes to machines and I have high standards, lol. It took me forever to get my ScannCut and my Explore One. When I first saw the Cricut Maker cut tulle, glitter tulle I needed one right then there, lol. I saw the Cricut Maker is now at WalMart when I was shopping tonight.

amayalylac I would find it ironic if the Maker is why they are thinking of offline mode. Crafters have been wanting this for years and years! Though I would love for offline mode soon then. I was having issues with DS yesterday and today I just can not get it to work. Thank goodness I am done my projects that needed to be done now.

OntarioScrapper I am really thinking the Make is DEFINITELY going to be the reason why Cricut finally gives us offline software. I find it ironic too but the money maker that is becoming a money pit always lights a fire under ProvoCraft's bootie to get them going on fixes, lol. I was watching knife blade videos tonight and it was taking 20 minutes just to cut out a simple design. I was peeking at Amazon reviews. Several people were saying how their projects are being ruined because the Maker is so slooooooow. The Maker is timing out before it can finish. I know, I know take Amazon reviews with a grain of salt, lol. You all know several of us have been using Cricut's for years so we know the problems over general user error complaining. I am seeing the pattern to the Maker's problem is the machine is just too slow and the web site is timing out. ProvoCraft I feel has no choice any more and has to provide offline software. I also think with Brother & Silhouette having offline software Cricut knows that is black mark on them too. Those two companies just gave more choices for their cutters while ProvoCraft has limited choice. You can use the Cricut Maker offline with the iPad. Least, that's what I keep hearing. I don't know if that improves speed. Any info from anyone I would love to know. I promise I am not trying to rave about the ScannCut. We have been discussing Disney files a lot over here. I noticed that Brother got a license to Disney, including Frozen. The files are not as intricate or paper piecing as the Cricut. I wanted to tell everyone because I know it gives more options or benefits for some of you, especially if you sell. I don't know Brother's Angel Policy on their licensed cuts. You have to use Online Cloud Canvas to look at the cuts. Least I did. I don't know if you buy the cuts you still have to access them on Cloud Canvas.

A year ago I asked Cricut customer service why the font from my "When I Was A Kid" cartridge wasn't in Design Space. I have contacted them a few times since and they say they will check into it with no results. I wonder how many other things may be missing from my cartridges on Design Space.

I remember when the CEO was saying how he knew technology. Crafters were complaining about the software using flash and yet HE still developed Design Space with flash. People from the company were claiming well we didn't know at the time. Um, yeah you did! We all did! So they finally down to the wire made Design Space non flash dependent. Their track record of being slow on certain things is odd. If you are so techie, why is the freaking software only for online use? You would know that cloud base can been glitchy, can cause massive headaches like when a new machine comes out or a Black Friday sale and all of a sudden too many people are trying to use their blasted machines. Ugh. I apparently can use my iPhone offline BUT I have to download whatever I want to use first. My phone may be a 128gs but geez, I can't download the whole library. I've used my phone a few times to cut things when Design Space was being an ass. Though this only works of course if my project is DONE and I just need to cut. My phone screen is too small for my eyes. I don't like designing on it.

The head honcho may have claimed to be a talented software designer, but I am not impressed.
I try to avoid using my Explore during evenings or weekends, because it's slower, and sometimes it crashes.
I will be delighted if the Cricut Maker timing out makes them finally offer offline software, but I wonder if the images will only be a temporary load to the software for using offline. I love having my Silhouette library on my computer. Provo Craft, though, seems so concerned about people potentially sharing their designs. I think that is one reason they have resisted offline software.

OntarioScrapperThis is going to be so ranty, lol. Forwarned girls! I remember when he said that too. I have been in the tech game long enough to say this and not be snarky about it. My eyes were rolling when he said that. Does he have a decent resume, yes. There were rumors that he was let go by Logitech for a big fail that cost Logitech a lot of money. I think it could have had something to do with patents. I don't know all the details. I don't want to spread gossip about a closed decision to let him go. He might not have been let go. He could have been amicably separated from the company or left on his own accord or fired with two minutes to get out, lol. You all know how those things go. Oh, do I remember the rumors. It was hot speculative gossip back then in my tech groups. That was why I was doing an eye roll because I am like "Dude, you come to the crafting world and act like we are all a bunch of dingbats, instead of intelligent women who might have a big as resume as you do." I have to admit his tech boasting really agitated me, lol. The advancements he has made on the machines. Um, we all came up with those advancements. I know several of you remember this from the old Cricut MB. He touts the German Carbide blade as if it was his idea. A few of us girls, including me, were suggesting German carbide blades as an alternative than buying Cricut's non carbide expensive blades. Then the Explore comes out and he's touting those blades like he created them. When I hear people like Ken and Melody on their YouTube videos touting those blades as if it was Cricut's idea I just want to scream. What did we use to talk about at the old Cricut forum- Make it bluetooth, add a rotary blade, add a knife blade, give us a way to access images on the cloud (that was largely a request from our girls that are not in North America- and an understandable request too). Point of this Mr Oh So Technology Pants took all our ideas and claimed them as his own. I don't know most companies are like "We listened to our customers and gave them these features!" ProvoCraft on the other hand is like "We thought of it ourselves and we are going to train the new version of YouTuber's to tout it that way too, don't forget the sponsored bloggers." I always make a cheeky comment that ProvoCraft closed our forum because they didn't want the world to know we asked for those features, lol. They could train new puppies to believe their hype. Note- Nothing against Melody or Ken. I think Ken is very sweet. I remember when they both came to the Cricut forum right before they closed. Rant over! Oh, that technology thing really ticks me off. I do really wish Cricut stop boasting about technology. Klik-n-Kut has a NASA contract. Graphtec has been making die cutters for several decades. Silhouette- of course is a Graphtec machine but is designed by a respected tech team. Brother- has been designing tech related products since analog was considered tech. Cricut is a craft company and baby newbie in tech. They are the high school football quarterback boasting in front of the NFL stars. scrapnnana That makes me sad you avoid Cricut at certain times of the day. Nobody should have to do that, especially on an expensive piece of hardware. I have not gone through that because I cut with the software late at night when nobody is on so I am in the unique group that Cricut probably loves because they can say "Well this group of people don't have problems!" That's because there are only ten of us online at the same time. You know how Cricut can be. I definitely believe that we will be able to only access our Cricut images temporarily for cutting. I think the offline software will need to connect to give licensing permission to cut. I love owning my Silhouette images too. I like I can give my images offsets without my hand being slapped. You girls knew I would go there with the offset, ROFL. I would like the Cricut Maker. Cricut is going so backwards lately that I am not going to buy an advanced machine to have expensive headaches and losses of material. I am learning how to cut the materials I want on my other machines. It can be done and offline too.

I find I use my Cricut Maker way more than my silhouette Cameo. I find it really hard to get the right depth setting on my cameo and have to do recut often. I was excited when Silhouette store started selling their designs with SVG so I could cut them on my Cricut. For some reason the Cameo just does not work as well for me. However I do like the editing options in The Silhouette software much more than Deign Space.

Sorry we don't NEED any mainsplaining. EVER. We know Design Space would do so much better with an offline mode. It's why I loved my Gypsy. Design on the go and no internet connection issues! I would hook up my Gypsy once a week to get the free cuts for the week. Offer stuff like that and people will still connect once in awhile. I do have the option to design on my iPhone but I have to download any images or cartridges to do so if I won't be connected to the internet. Problem is I'm older now and it's a PIA to design on my itty bitty phone screen. Give me the option to design offline on my laptop and I'd be a very happy crafter. Then I have more room to download stuff for offline and don't have to deal with my laptop disconnecting me from my freaking internet. All our laptops in my house have this issue and we can't seem to fix it. Yep, I remember the German blade thing. Um no, it's because crafters were buying the German blades online in batches to save money and have better cutting blades. You most definitely didn't invent this blade. And now they have re named all the blade packaging so badly that I keep seeing posts in my groups asking which freaking blade to buy from the Cricut brand. Maybe they can't use German Carbide anymore? I buy my balds off of Amazon anyway. I can not stand Melody Lane's voice. One of the FB groups I was in, she became an admin before she got popular. Some of my friends from that groups were suddenly blocked. And then I got blocked. None of us ever said anything bad about Cricut in that group. However we had all joined another group where you could talk freely about your frustrations about Cricut. Um yeah that. The original admin of that group closed it down and started up a new group with her business name (she's Canadian so that's why I was in her group). Recently she posted that she no longer is sent a Mystery Box from Cricut to do a video about it. Apparently since she also posts about other cutting machines (she has several different brands) and offers advice for them all, she is no longer allowed in the Cricut exclusive group. I'm disappointed because she makes great videos. No distracting noises in the background. No annoying music. Always gives informative videos (unlike Melody who will show off a new product without even testing before hand. I tried to watch a video about the Explore from her but because she wasn't prepare what she said at the start she was going to cover was even correct! Do your freaking homework and stop wasting my time!). And she gets right to the point! The other cutting machine companies don't seem to care that she covers other machines. And honestly if these videos had been around when I first started out with Cricut, I have a feeling she would've had me more prepared to pick the right machine.

Thank you OntarioScrapper. You all can see from my last post I am tired of men, lol. My poor DH he is the sweetest. I am on a ranting rampage lately of mansplaining. What is funny is that the majority of jobs I had is men dominated. I have always been treated equally and considered well respected and I get recommendations. The majority of my friends are guys. They are like "Scream, cry, yell, tell us you hate us. Get it out!" My theme at 2Peas this weekend is peeves. I don't like men treating me stupid, lol. Cricut CEO treats us as if we are stupid. I loved Jim, the old CEO. I still use my German Carbide blades that I have left over from my Cricut Expressions in my Cricut Explore. I only have the Cricut Explore One. I think that is what it's called. The first one without the bluetooth. I hope they didn't change the blades with those new fine blade holder thingy they have. That will make me ragey. I am not buying specialty blades. I am already growling about my ScannCut blades and I love my ScannCut. My Silhouette blade I bought CB09 Blade Holder just so I won't have to use proprietary blades. These machines are considered like sewing machines now. No, specialty blades die cutting companies. Jeez! Girls any confirmation the new blade holders use the same old blades? I don't watch Melody's video's. I don't like being sold things. I do love Ken though, even though he is doing the same thing. Ken has always been very sweet and not in your face. I remember when I left the Cricut MB Melody was just starting to show up. One of the girls got in her face about information she was promoting that was vicious and wrong. Melody was like "I will pray for you!" It was really hateful, IMO. I know several took it that way too. Now, every time I see Melody I wonder if she is screaming at people she will pray for them because they don't agree with her. Prayer is not a weapon. I can't believe she banned you Ontario. That is high school clique club. I am sorry. I can't believe Cricut is doing this again only wanting their machine promoted in the day and age where everyone has other machines, tools and toys. I remember the backlash that caused when they originally did that. I kind of understood back then because the machines at that time were trying to become the big power players. Now, that is not relevant. That is like Sony not sending God of War to a YT that covers all gaming consoles because they only want Sony exclusive players. It hurts them worse than the customers. You know an Xbox user might get so excited about God of War they run out and buy a Sony Playstation just to play God of War. It is the same with Cricut. I did want the Cricut Maker because of the things it can do that other cutters can't do. We all buy different tools that have the same function because of their special attributes. Cricut should be a gun company the way they shoot themselves all the time. I thought the new CEO would throw out Cricut's old rule book. It seems like he has it setting on his desk and going down a checklist of everything to do that Cricut did in 2008. Can't wait to see 2009 repeated, lol. That makes me mad you can't get on late at night. I wonder if they are strengthening some of their servers for United States and screwing up the rest of North America. I have seen that happen more than once. It is super shady of a company to do. It is not just a North American thing. I know other companies do it too in other parts of the world. I was working one night talking to a friend in France. He was like they are on fire in England and we are crawling over here. We were both working on a tech project at the time from this company. We are like Dudes are shady.

I contacted Cricut customer service again regarding the font missing from Design Space and this was their response
They are the ones who changed their machines to online and if I paid for that cartridge then I should be able to access everything on it. grrrrrrrrrrr

I think it would be appropriate for them to give you another font of your choice as a replacement.

Instead they drag their feet. If you have a holder that has both the blade and stylus/pen together and it's not bluetooth, that's the original Explorer. I have that and got the Bluetooth adapter when it went cheap because my craft room is small and less wires is good. If you have the machine where you have to switch out the blade holder for the stylus/pen holder than that's the Explore One. Because someone thought it would be good to sell an Explore with just the blade holder for cheaper. Though you can buy for extra the stylus/pen holder . Um, whatever. I like Ken. He doesn't have a voice like nails on a chalk board. Seriously, her name Melody is ironic.

I did not realize that the reason a few of mine are missing was that they were never made available at all in Design Space. That is inexcusable. Cricut is being stupid. Again. I realize they are a company in order to make money, and some things are less of a priority, but ticking off customers is always a bad idea. I've said it before, but customers are your best advertising when they are happy, and the advertising is free. Unhappy customers can ruin a company. Remember Wishblade? They got bought out by Xyron, who ended up upsetting the wrong customer, and she rallied other unhappy customers and people stopped buying Wishblade in favor of other cutters. Competition is often brutal for companies, but it tends to benefit the consumers. OntarioScrapper, I like Ken, too. He gives you the info you need, but even though I know he is a bit partial, he's not obnoxious about it. I don't know who Melody is. I will seriously never understand why Provo Craft paired an excellent machine (Explore series) with such limited software. I've griped about it many times here, I know, but if they had really good software, they really could corner the majority of the market. Silhouette offers paid software upgrades to those customers who want more capability. Why not Provo Craft? Are they afraid of being accused of copying Silhouette? Imitating a smarter business model is more profitable, even if there is a little criticism. I love my Silhouette more than my Explore, even though my Explore can do more, and it comes down to Silhouette's better software. I tolerate Design Space. I can create anything I want in Silhouette software. If I need to cut something of my design on my Explore, then I can use my Business edition of the Silhouette software to save it as SVG and export it for using on my Explore. Silhouette has been a lot smarter in a lot of things than Provo Craft. Silhouette knows there are people like me who own and use both machines. I also have bought a few SVG versions of Silhouette files for cutting on my Explore. Silhouette is definitely being smarter than Provo Craft there. Provo Craft is so stinking paranoid about people sharing designs. I don't share designs. I still own all my original cartridges and will never sell them because legally, I can cut the designs on any machine as long as I own the cartridges with those images, or if I have bought the digital image. Silhouette makes it possible to cut their designs on other machines. Cricut doesn't. I think Silhouette is the smarter company.

I am not asking for anything free, I am asking them to make available all the images that are on the cartridges that I bought. This should not even be an issue. I can't believe that they told me that not all the fonts/images from the cartidges are available on DS, that is no way to run a business.

When their customer service loaded my cartridges into Design Space (because my Gypsy seemed to be having issues), I noticed that not everything was loaded into my account. I bought all my cartridges from bridk and mortar stores. I kept every one of them, and had to take photos of each. It took Provo Craft 3 weeks to make them available, and I noticed that there were a few missing. I never took time to contact them. I did not realize that some cartridges were simply not available in Design Space. I still have my older machine and all my cartridges, so I can still use them that way, but what about people who got rid of their older machines when they upgraded, or who upgraded because their older machines died? That is really a rotten way to treat customers.

A year ago I asked Cricut customer service why the font from my "When I Was A Kid" cartridge wasn't in Design Space. I have contacted them a few times since and they say they will check into it with no results. I wonder how many other things may be missing from my cartridges on Design Space. I don't remember what cartridge it is but I do have one that has a haunted house card that went into Design Space wrong. They know this is an issue and it's never been fixed. I only know about because I had originally made the card on my Expression 2 in Craft room and when I was remaking projects for Design Space I couldn't get this one to work right.

OntarioScrapper. I have the Cricut model that you own. The one where we have to switch between the blade holder to pen holder. It does not have bluetooth and I have yet to buy the adapter. Isn't that funny? I play with the iPad app all the time which is pretty useless to me since I can't use it on my Explore, ROFL. Honestly, I don't miss the bluetooth but I am going to buy the adapter when it hits my price point. I bought that Cricut really cheap. I really wasn't planning to upgrade. My Expressions was going to Cricut heaven. I was at WM on Black Friday super late at night. It was like two or three in the morning. In the sewing department on the cutting table was one lone Cricut Explore. I went over to look at it. The manager came over to me and asked if I knew what that was. What department should it be in and if I wanted it. He gave me a huge discount because he didn't want to deal with putting it back in a proper place, lol. I got it for a little over hundred dollars, lol. Night Owl This is terrible and sickening about your missing cartridges. Cricut really needs yelled at about this. They said all our cartridges would be in Design Space. They can get in a lot of legal trouble over this, especially because they said in writing our cartridges would be in DS. I have triple checked mine and all my cartridges are in DS, including my free ones. Somebody at Cricut is using excuses to you. The free and paid ones are in Design Space. I have over 100 cartridges. I am so mad for you and other customers right now with missing cartridges. They need to be held accountable for this. Other Cricut personal news. I decided not to buy the Maker. I just mentioned the last Cricut I bought was at a substantial discount. Cricut has been on my thrift store price list for a long time now. The Cricut Maker would have been the first time in at least five years I would have paid a lot of money for. Missing cartridges, online software, slow speeds, timing out, no offset, no inset, no offline software and possible bluetooth issues reported. No, I think I will pass. Cricut is not getting any money from me unless it is thrift store price. I have my price points for everything. I am not trying to be snarky about thrift prices. I actually do have a thrift store price for things I buy. It's one of my frugality codes of honor. I am not hyping the ScannCut I promise. I did cut fabric this week on the ScannCut. I did the freezer paper method. It turned out beautifully. I peeled off the freezer paper and my fabric was perfect. I know that the Maker cuts out different kinds of fabric. If you do the freezer paper no matter what cutter you own, (including Explore) you probably can mimic what the Maker is doing. Remember a lot of people in the modeling world bought Klik-N-Kuts to cut balsa wood. I just wanted to throw that out in case anybody is reading this thread for research. Peek at the other cutters and see what list of materials they can cut and look for examples of those said materials. Don't settle for any cutter, no matter what brand, because of advertised features. There are really only two unique cutters on the market and that is the ScannCut and the Maker. Each of those you can replicate and mimic what they do on other cutters. I hope that helps somebody. One last piece of Cricut gossip. Have you all noticed the mats went up in price?

One last piece of Cricut gossip. Have you all noticed the mats went up in price? Miss Kate Cuttables sells her own Cricut/Silhouette cutting mats on Amazon but I haven't tried them. They are thinner, though that may work for me because I bend my mats to take the stuff off them. Funny because I have the tools but I prefer just bending the mat and peeling the stuff off by hand.

amayalylac, you bring up some really good points about the legal issues, but they also know that unless there is a huge stink that makes customers leave in droves for other companies, the customers have little recourse. Who is going to pay a lawyer over a few missing cartridges?
You are also right about other cutters doing many of the same things.
A lot of people buy their Cricut machines based on the marketing hype. The Explore is a good machine. IMO, it's the best for the price for home crafters, but Provo Craft has done some backsliding when it comes to listening to customer concerns. That is something potential buyers should consider.
You got a screaming deal on your Explore. You've proved that it can really pay to wait till you can get a decent price for what you want.
I had not noticed the price increase on the mats. I just keep refreshing the adhesive on mine. If it increased enough for you to notice, I am guessing it was enough to make most of us grumpy.
