I am still around and spent the afternoon in my scrap room. I am working on a layout about the blue and gold banquet and hope to finish it this evening. I was gathering information this afternoon for my journaling! BBL

Good to see you ladies playing with paper again. Hope to get to that in the next week or so. nylene , our Saskatoon berries are a about the size of tame blueberries; a little more purple and a little sweeter in flavour. In This article there is a photo and an explanation that the same berry may have different names. We have a few trees in our yard, and this year there seem to be lots of berries on them. We eat them fresh with sugar and cream, or I bake them into a kind of cottage pudding. My mil used to preserve them in light syrup in sealer jars. Other than pick a few berries, I also worked my way through about half of the laundry. When I moved all the bedroom furniture to make room for the windows guys to work, I threw all the bedding down the laundry chute. Today I started on getting it processed through washer and drier. Still have some left for tomorrow. Which is good, because with the workmen in the house, it is hard to get going on anything else. Hope you had a great day and have a lovely evening. maribeth , I hope you have recovered from all the yard work.

grammadee, thanks for the info on Saskatoon berries. I have heard my DSIL talk about Juneberries, (he's from Michigan) but I have never tasted them. I learn new things here all the time. Berries with cream and sugar sounds delicious! Good luck with the laundry and the workmen. That should keep you busy for a while. scrapincin, I love, love your Cub page. It makes me miss my Cubs and the Blue and Gold and Pinewood derbies. Sigh! I left you some love on your blog and will go visit the gallery too. I wanted to tell you that the reason I couldn't open the Sil. software is because I download the Mac version. But I did it right...just had the wrong file. Doug downloaded the Windows version and it opened ok. Didn't have time to even look at it tonight, but will tomorrow. Thanks, friend! It's fun to see you scrapping and feeling better! I'll send you an email tomorrow with my latest need for your help. LOL!

It's Terrific Tuesday Pokeys justjac - yes tell us more about you, it is great you have started posting on our group. LisaDV - WOW, just WOW - as nylene said, I hope you post your other pages as well, but I am soooooooo happy you had such a great scrappy/movie time. I love those days. Hopefully I can have one of those again real soon. As soon as we get that pile of rocks spread then I can take some me time. nylene - Yay for three good things in one day. If you get the Silhouette let me know how you like it. I have a Pazzles and I am not 100% happy with it. I would say only about 50%. I can never make intricate cuts, it rips the paper every time. I know you have to mess with the settings, but that is just not a talent I posses at all, I need a machine that is smart, and one that does not require a lot of tinkering. No camping in the near future, we will start again in September and October. We do spring and fall camping, too hot in the summer as we prefer desert camping to mountain camping, and we don't really do lakes (not swimmers here). So looking forward to it though, in fact I need to get planning as to where we are gong and get some reservations made. grammadee - too funny! I do hope you get sunshine too as well. scrapincin, kellyr21, knutschen - Waving hello! What will happen to you today on this Terrific Tuesday!

nylene , wow, that is ALL good news! I lose my keys and cell phone all the time! I love my silhouette! scrapincin , Such a terrific page! grammadee , Saskatoons are grown here in Michigan too. My hubs likes them as a jelly. He didn't like the fresh berries as much as blueberries, but I think that was more because the $$ was so much more. I'm sure he'll plant a few eventually here. nylene , I haven't heard of Juneberries. I'll be on the lookout for those. maribeth , I hope you are having a great work week. Glad you are getting a break from your outside work this week. Thanks for the page love. I didn't want to bombard the board with all of the photos. Hey everyone! It is a sunny and warm day here and I hope to get some things going around here. I want to continue my friendship painting and want to scrap. I still got the cupcake fever too. LOL! I hope to get a few supplies later this week so I can make some more. I know my dh will like having more of my creations that he can eat! LOL!
Justjac- Welcome! Glad to see you hear and I liked your pages you share.
Lisa- Oh boy, you did have a great time with movies and scrapping. All us peas should of joined your party! I gotta go see all your pages. I like the little clouds throughout. So cute!
Grammadee- Yeah, I was gonna ask about those berries too. I haven't heard of them. Sounds like your area is a lot like our mid-western states.
Nylene- Yes, I vote you should get a new scrapping toy. :)I need to get a new Cricut or Silhouette. I gave mine away and now I miss it.
Cindy & Nylene- Have you heard from our pea friend Pam? I was just thinking about her and miss her beautiful layouts.
Well, waving hi to you all and have a nice afternoon/evening!

Well, I looked to see if I had a layout about myself, but it's probably easier to just type the details. I have been married for nearly two years now. I met grammadee when she hired me to teach Adult Upgrading with her 16 years ago. Wow, time flies. I don't have any children, but my nieces show up on my pages quite a bit. We live in a story and a half house built in the 50's that we are contemplating renovating. I like to read and bake, but I am not the greatest house keeper. Thanks for asking.

but I am not the greatest house keeper. Thanks for asking. justjac , you are my kind of people! Nice to know a little about you. I didn't realize that you and grammadee taught together. I thought you had just met as scrappy friends. I love that beautiful layout that you did. I have done everything I can think of to enlarge the print to see where you were invited. Will you share? I love the elegance of the companion page. Beautiful colors. LisaDV, maybe you need to warn justjac about the renovation process. However your renovation is coming right along. I left love on your pages. Please flood the thread and gallery with your others. That's the best part of Pokey Peas! We love to see the work of each other. I am so glad you love your Silhouette. One more vote for me. BTW, I think I read that Juneberries are the same thing as Saskatoon berries. Just different names in diff. places. Remember my good day yesterday...well, today I pulled out my OLD backup Cricut to cut some things for Card Club. It made the most wonky cuts and then I realized that the mat was sliding around in the machine. I think the rollers are gone on it. So I am cutter-less. I ran over and borrowed my DD's to finish up my project. I'm afraid to use it again. Apparently I kill Cricut machines! So by tomorrow I am going to take the plunge and buy the Silhouette Cameo. It's a good thing my DH loves me. maribeth, once I get the Silhouette figured out and Cindy walks me through the hard parts, I will let you know what I think. I didn't realize that you weren't summer campers, but that makes sense. Take it easy in your yard! kellyr21, yesterday and today our temp. dropped 20 degrees. It was in the 70's for these 2 days, but will be back in the 90's tomorrow. Crazy weather. My first Cricut was a gift from a friend I met many years ago on Pokey Peas. I bought the 2nd used from Kara here on 2peas Refugees. I know I have got my $ worth from those. But it's time for a change. I will let you know what I think. Waving hello to all the rest of you Pokeys. Hope you all have a great week. Sending Hugs to each of you. Save

Hello, Ladies. Our windows are replaced and some other work finished on the outside of the house by the windows guys. Glad to see that they rehung the blinds for me as well, so that will help in the process of getting rooms back in order upstairs. Most of the bedding has been washed and dried, so have everything I need to do that. Taking a break Wednesday, though. Meeting justjac to watch the fair parade. Hoping to grab lunch and stop in at the LSS as well. Also need to get my vehicle serviced and print some photos while I am in town. Hoping to get some scrappy time next week. And then there is the garden. Weeds need to be pulled. More Saskatoons will be ready to pick by Thursday. Hopefully the garden will be dry enough to walk on by Thursday, so I can walk on it to pick raspberries as well as get some weeds out of there. Dd & family are coming here on Friday, so need at least 2 bedrooms ready by then. On my way home on Sunday, I ventured into IKEA and picked up a new bookcase for dd's room upstairs. The old one is collapsing. Not surprising, since it was not expensive to begin with and it is about 40 years old. Anyway, dd and hubby plan to take the old one out of there and construct the new one while they are here. My job will be to keep the little guy busy while they do that. I had to laugh at dd. She went back to work on Monday after a years' parental leave, and she told me that she is beginning to think of work as a place to "relax and be ME!" I was never meant to be a SAHM either. Don't know how they do it.

It is Wishful Wednesday for me my Pokey friends. I wish for calmness today, I have been feeling very anxious the past few days, again a work related issue, but it is completely out of my control so I need not to let it consume me. I wish for all my Pokey friends to have a wonderful day, scrapping, or doing whatever it is that brings them joy. scrapincin - missed your pages yesterday, sorry, left love LisaDV - left love, great pages, really like the papers you used. justjac - thanks for letting us get to know you better, looking forward to having you here as a Pokey nylene - looking forward to hearing how you like the silhouette, @kellr21 - WOW, Pam an name from the past, I loved her layouts. And you go girl, scrap, paint and bake! It is fun to have so many interests isn't it? Have a Wonderful day Pokey's

Good Morning All! I hope you are all doing well. I had a very rough night-tossing and turning and ended up in the chair in the living room! Hope I sleep better tonight. In sure do not know what it was all about but kept dreaming the same dream over and over and I hate reruns! JustJac- nice meeting you and so glad you have joined our little group! I am Cindy-wife, mom and grandma. I retired from my nursing job 6 plus years ago and still do not know how I had time to work. We watch our grandchildren even though they are growing up-Maggie is 12 and Bobby is 9. Paper crafting is my favorite hobby, but I do crochet and garden. Your pages are beautiful and I will be leaving you some love in the gallery! Maribeth- I sure hope your discomfort goes away especially when it is not your problem. I do understand though how something in a small office makes things uncomfortable for all. /thanks for your kind words on my layout. Kelly- Pam posts pages once in a while on FB but not very often. But at least we know she does still create them. Lisa- you were one busy girl scrapping all those pages! I will be visiting yours soon too. Nylene-can't wait to see how well you do with your Cameo! I so love mine! I make all my diecuts and lettering as you know. Even the cards I make have greetings etc. cut on my Silhouette. Grammadee sounds like your house will be buzzing with activity! You do stay busy but I think it is a good busy! Here is a card I made last evening. birthday card by Cindy Blair, on Flickr Hope you all have a wonderful day and I will be back later!

Sending wishes for calmness to maribeth at work today and scrapincin after that restless night. As we said in the '60's: PEACE! nylene , I hope you get your Silhouette today and that you love it. I had one of the first Wishblades, and loved that until a new computer refused to talk to it. I understand the Silhouette system is very much the same with some improvements. Really intuitive. kellyr21 I can't believe all the crafty activities you are doing. Glad you are having fun with it all. Need to run. Off for a day of fun and adventure! (and more than one errand to run, but oh well... ) Have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

grammadee there are dies avilable for those stamps but I fussy cut the flowers and the leaves. I ordered the stamps but the dies and stamps were kind of pricey I felt for the amount of use I would get from them.

Cindy, I love your card. That is such a pretty pink. Left you some love. If you ever have contact with Pam on FB, will you tell her hello for the Pokeys. I miss her beautiful layouts and all her fun projects. I hope she is doing well. I got on the Silhouette software to check it out last night. It is a lot like SCAL. I know it will take me time to learn, but I'm less nervous now. Thanks for staying up late last night to answer my questions. You're a peach! grammadee , I started with the original Wishblade too. But 9 months later I had to have a new computer, and like you, couldn't use it anymore. Then I was gifted a Cricut expression and have loved using it with SCAL. So I hope I will love the Silhouette as much. I have ordered it and can pick it up on Monday. Do you mean to tell us that weeds grow in Canada too? I thought we had the corner on that market...and lots of it in my yard! Good luck on drying out the garden and getting your bookcase together. Have fun with the little one. LisaDV , are things back to normal with your children back home. I am still waiting to see your other layouts. (hint, hint) Hope you can get some scrappy time with all that needs to be done around your house and garden. I feel guilty that I only plant tomatoes when you guys are planting everything! maribeth , I hope you can relax and feel less anxious. They are so lucky to have you at that job. Can you do some scrapping tonight to help you relax. That's my best solution when I am uptight or worried. justjac , I am married for 48+ years and the mother of 4 grown children who have blessed us with 14 grandchildren. All live here in Utah Co. except our California kids who this week are moving to a new home in Martinez. During the school year I am a volunteer teacher to children in a Remedial Reading program at an Elem. school. I really love that. I have taught 4-H for over 35 years and was just released from teaching Webelos Cub Scouts (sigh) after about 35 years. I spend a lot of time scrapping and love it. We are so happy to have you sharing your layouts with us. Keep grammadee out of trouble, will you? @kellr21, I saw some of the cupcakes you pinned. I can tell you will love making these and be very good at it. And I'm sure Ron will love your practicing! I hope you are not melting down there. You have had some HOT weather. Good luck on all your projects. Have a great Wishful Wednesday as Maribeth suggested!

Happy Wednesday! You girls have been scrapping away. I want to do a little this week too. And yes, I do love all the crafts I have been trying this year. Maybe I will be the next Martha Stewart? LOL!
Tonight we are going to the park concert. Y'all know hoe much I love going and tonight will be our first full night. THey started last week but we were only able to go for a short time. But tonight we should be there the full time. The music for tonight is supposed to be 80's rock so I hope they play a few songs we remember from those days.
justjac - Nice to meet ya and hope you enjoy chatting and sharing with us.
nylene - Our weather has been nice the last couple of days. Hopefully, the hot weather will stay away for a while. I love the 70's and that is what we have now. Awwwww! LOL! So happy to hear you are getting a Silhouette. That is awesome and I am sure your will have it going before long.
scrapincin - Good to know our Pam is ok. I was just thinking about her and wondered if you had heard from her.
Waving hi to you all and have a nice evening!

It is Tantalizing Thursday - teasing me with almost being Friday! Work was work - was able to get a bit of relief from my main problem because I had to go to one of our quarry scale houses and sit with a new employee, or our main scale person who is training the new employee had to leave at 1:00 for a medical issue with her husband. It was nice to get away from my main duties and the stress they bring. And I think I have figured a way to lessen my stress a bit on the current problem (sometimes I literally wake up with an answer, its weird). nylene - weeds grow in Canada too? I thought we had the corner on that market...and lots of it in my yard - I can't believe either of you have weeds, I thought they only grew in New Mexico - our entire State is covered with weeds - LOL - See this is a small world, from far and near we hall have the same daily battles. Can you do some scrapping tonight to help you relax. That's my best solution when I am uptight or worried. I wish I could Nylene, but unfortunately it seems that I am unable to access my creative side (what little there is of it) when I am in distress about work (or other) issues. I really have to be in an already calm state before I can create. I think that is why my favorite way to create is to go away to a vacation home - or even when we camp(just hard to take the supplies camping), put on my relaxation music, and then I can really get the pages cranked out. For our week long trip in October hubby wants to do a camping trip that does not include going and driving and seeing other things, so we are going to our favorite campground and stay put for the entire week, just resting - I should be able to get a lot of scraping done then.
scrapincin - great card, left love, thanks for updating us on Pam, so sorry you had a restless night, hope last night was better. I am glad you have been feeling better overall and have been around more often, I enjoy your post so much.
kellyr21 - Hope you had fun on your outing. It is nice that you get to do things you enjoy. Hubby and me are totally homebodies (except for camping), we never go out, but we love it when we hear that others are getting out and enjoying themselves.
grammadee - thank you for your thoughts for calmness yesterday. You are always soooooooooo busy, hope your adventurous day was wonderful.
Don't let Thursday Tantalize you too much, we still have today and tomorrow before it is the WEEKEND!

maribeth, can I just tell you that you always brighten my day! I love your upbeat attitude even when being stressed and worried. You are great! I'm sorry that you can't scrap to relax. That's always my unwinding activity. Take it easy and find a way to unwind. kellyr21, I hope you enjoyed your music in the park. What a fun opportunity for people in your town. Wish we had something similar. Did you get to dance? I thought I saw on the news that the L.A. area was having over 100 degree weather. I'm glad you have had a reprieve from the heat. I must have miss-heard. scrapincin, I hope I was not the source of your inability to sleep. I hope I didn't drive you crazy with the Silhouette questions. I hope last night was better for you. I have a page to post but have things to do this morning and am going to the canyon for a picnic later. Probably tomorrow for posting. Have a great Tantalizing Thursday. (I love you, maribeth!)

Put in a couple of hours in the garden this morning. Picked some berries. Pulled some weeds. It was getting hot and I needed another coffee, so am back in the house. Ha ha, nylene and maribeth about WEEDS. I always feel a little guilty pulling out a plant by the roots when it so obviously WANTS to grow here. It did not need to be seeded and coddled. It just grew. And for all I know it probably has some nutritional value: maybe more than the "vegetable" I have made room for by pulling it out. "Weed" is an insult we sling at anything that we don't WANT there. When in Finland, we had some delicious "nettle soup". Here we do all kinds of things to get rid of nettle! In New Zealand, I asked a guide about the gorgeous yellow flowers on the shrubs along the road, and he shuddered and said "ugly gorse. It's everywhere after the Scots brought it here." THEY are trying to get rid of a plant that obviously LOVES their climate! Today I pulled out a lot of dandelions and what we call "pig weed". I have heard that dandilions may have medicinal properties, and some people use their leaves in salads. When I was a kid, pig weed was the first taste of fresh green we tasted each spring after a long winter of dried and preserved food (no WalMart then...) My mom would pick it and cook it up with a cream sauce, like creamed spinach. Can't even describe how delicious it tasted!!! And I could hate wild buckwheat (well actually, I DO come close to hating that one, as it wraps around the plant I want to save, making pulling the buckwheat out very difficult), but then I remember that its seeds kept the Cree alive through long Canadian winters long before my ancestors arrived here... Just a little something to keep your mind busy next time you are yanking out weeds...

Good evening to one and all! Just stopped by to catch up on the chat! I did sleep better the next night. I was having a wacky dream and cramps in my legs. I don't think it had anything to do with answering your questions Nylene just a wacky night. I was up long after I answered you. It was funny I was making cards for my hairdresser's birthday. When I went in yesterday I gave her her gift and found out her birthday is in January! I told her it was for her half birthday! We had a good laugh.
Not much going on here tonight. I was watching Jennifer McGuire videos that I had not seen yet. She just amazes me when she stamps! No qualms where I shiver before I can place that stamp down as I know I will goof it up. But I keep trying!
Hope you all have a great evening and will be back tomorrow!

nylene - Awwwwww - you are too kind. Such sweet words, I'm blushing! I use to be an EXTREMELY negative person, even as a child. At some point I just turned a new leaf and decided I didn't want to live that way any longer, so I do try to spread joy and smiles rather than wallow in negativity. grammadee - Hubby and I feel the same way about some weeds. But we have this horrible bind weed that just wraps itself around everything, it is awful. And dandelions too, all over our lawn. Thank you so much for the info on weeds, it was very entertaining and education. See you in the morning.

It's Finally Friday for me today Pokeys - I am a bit eleated! It has been a rough week at work - totally dreading what is headed my way on Monday (sorry can't give details), but I am not going to allow myself to think about Monday until Monday arrives. I have a fun weekend to look forward too. First thing on Saturday morning I will go get my annual lab work done (that is if the lab paperwork is in the mail today), I am getting a facial at 10:00 am, and oh those are sooooooooo relaxing. At about 1:00 my Daughter-In-Law (who teaches Kindergarten) is coming out with my granddaughters (maybe my son but I am not sure he usually works nights? ?) so that hubby can help her cut plywood and foam and assemble them with a fabric cover which fit on the tops of milk crates for storage seats for her classroom. Sunday, I am sure we will move a few rocks in the morning, and then I hope to play in my scraft room a bit. And I have to press the button to purchase my camera cord today. I have to get that thing on its way to me. My problem right now is I hate to purchase from Amazon until I have enough to use the free shipping, and although I have other items in my cart I am still not up to the $49.00. I have to think of something else that I need. Enjoy your Friday Pokeys, whatever it is you choose to do with it. I know you will all make it a Great day!

maribeth , glad you finally made it to Friday of a stressful week, and have ways to take your mind off the stress over the weekend. But being retired, for me, Fridays seem to be much like any other day LOL. Well this one is a little different: dd and family will be arriving this evening and stayin til Sunday. Yesterday was her birthday, and she has requested cake which is in the oven at this moment. Finished her card last night, and need to put it in an envelope and enclose it in a small gift I have for her. Here is her card dd 33 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr When the cake is out of the oven, I need to head out to the garden again to continue my war on weeds. Later in the day, I need to do some house cleaning in prep for their arrival. Managed to get the furniture back in place in their rooms yesterday and the beds made, so that is ready for them. Have a fantastic Friday, everyone!

Happy Friday! I am having a nice day so far. I plan on working on a special card for my mil's birthday. I may end up doing a mini album card. She gave me some very nice pp so maybe I will use some of it to make her card. hummm... We did go to the park concert and it was good. All the 80's music and Ron especially loved it. LOL! We sang along here and there and Nylene we didn't get up and dance but we did dance in our chairs a little. LOL! Next week is military band night so I look forward to it. grammadee - What type of cake did you make? Waving hello to everyone and wishing you a restful evening!

Not much serenity around the farm today, maribeth ! So far dgs has played with trucks and cars in the living room and done some painting with Gramma; ridden on the tractor, and "helped" Grampa with landscaping around the playpark; got several rides on the golf cart around the yard; picked berries--and ate quite a few; helped dig potatoes in the garden and then wash them with the hose; ate a big lunch of grilled cheese and veggies. He has gone down for a nap now, so all is quiet. Meanwhile his mom and dad emptied and dismantled an old bookcase and assembled and installed a new one. They are replacing books now. Grampa went to cut grass with the lawn tractor, but I think I will lied down for awhile during the break in the action!

Good Sunday morning to everyone! Hope your weekends are going as planned and all is well! I was doing some card making last evening and ended up with two cards to have on hand for birthdays. I saw a similar card on Pinterest and had to make some. I will post them at the end. grammadee sounds like you are enjoying your visitors! After all that activity you deserved a little nap! Those youngsters do keep you running. I saw my grands yesterday for the first time in a while. After having them here almost daily for 12 years I miss them now. They have been staying home with their Dad this summer while he looks for work. maribeth- sounds like you had a busy weekend planned also. The facial sounds relaxing but not the rock moving. Hope you get those done so you can scrap! kellyr21 I saw all those yummy looking things you were pinning on Pinterest! Poor Ron better start exercising cuz he is going to be gaining weight eating all those cupcakes! nylene- hope your weekend is going well. Have you watched any of those videos? I know tomorrow is the big day! I think you are going to be fine as you have told me before that a lot of the things on the Silhouette were like the Wishblade when you had it. Funny that you and grammadee had those. Well going to close for now will check back later to see what you girls have been up to. Waving a big HI to Lisa -pretend she is waving! Happy Sunday! Breakfast on the deck before berry picking this morning and other outside activities. The little man is sleeping, and his mom & dad have gone on a quad adventure, checking out some spots we used to pick wild berries before we had them in our yard. I am in the house with the monitor. My sister in law and her dil are out in the raspberry patch now. Love your cards, scrapincin . When everyone leaves, I need to put together a bd card for my brother to go into the mail tomorrow. And looking forward to Tuesday when justjac will be coming here for a playdate. May take me a bit of time to get into the groove, but I hope to get some serious scrapping done while she is here. kellyr21 I was thinking the same thing as Cindy: your dh will need to take up long distance running or something eating all your yummy creations! nylene , a picnic in the canyon sounds delightful. We often have weiner roasts by the river in the summers, but now that it is haying season, the guys don't dare take breaks that are too long for that kind of thing. Also, taking an active impulsive boy down by a deep river is not such a great idea. Hoping you all get as much excitement and as much relaxation as you need this weekend. I love all the activity and togetherness, but then I know I will crash when everyone leaves.

grammadee- you sure can sketch with the Silhouette. You can sketch any image in your collection, your cut setting is cut and you replace your blade with a pen or pencil. If you have the Silhouette sketch pens you just take your blade out and insert the sketch pen. If you don't you need the pen holder they sell. It will hold pens, pencils, or markers. The only thing is you must leave the lid up otherwise you will end up with a diagonal line across your work. Hope that helps! You can journal on your page also! You do it the same way!
