Went in for the MRI this am.. They thought the right breast was clear of lumps but the tech found one... Ack! So now we have right and left to worry about. The contrast Iv got twisted so I was on my tummy, breast bone on hard metal, oobbloies hanging and a very uncomfortable Iv for almost 45 minutes.. I'm home now and should hear back by tomorrow at latest. I was so scared this am that I woke up 3 hours early throwing up.. I have a strong family history of breast cancer so this has me scared! Took this for hubby in waiting room...he is just as scared... Again I'll update when I know more and thanks for following this... Knowing I have this support means the world to me and i wish I could give you each a hug! Jennifer

Still praying and sending good thoughts. I had a biopsy when I was in my 30's ~ it never occurred to me that it would be cancer so keep thinking positive thoughts!!

I can see where your history makes this incrementally more scary than for the "average" woman without that history.
Prayers for a good outcome. I'm glad you have the active support of your DH. Sometimes people post here who don't have that and it's very sad that they have to go it alone, so to speak. Give each other a hug and know we are thinking of you.

Went in for the MRI this am.. They thought the right breast was clear of lumps but the tech found one... Ack! So now we have right and left to worry about As a younger woman, it would be be unusual NOT to find something on MRI! Here's a story that illustrates it. When my sister was diagnosed, she went into the same sort of denial I did. I didn't even come to 2Peas with it until I was already diagnosed and was getting my port. Saying it or writing it made it real and I did not want it to be real. Yeah. Denial big time. LOL. As if I could wish it away. Anyway, my sister planned on just a lumpectomy and radiation. Considering our family history, I found that frightening. She was all "my cancer is not as aggressive as your cancer. I don't have to do a bilateral." Of course not, but she did have to take other factors into consideration. I saw our family breast surgeon (yes, we have a family breast surgeon, oncologist and gyn oncologist too) and she asked how my sister was doing with the diagnosis. I told her my sister's plans. Her response? "Don't worry. I'll send her for an MRI." dealsamongus, are you following me here? The breast surgeon KNEW that there would be some questionable thing or another on the other side because there almost always is in young women! That finding alone was enough to change my sister's mind. (Not that I was being purposely manipulative, but I went through the same sort of denial. I was going to have a lumpectomy also and was going to do a mastectomy the next time... also, the ONLY family members to beat this completely in our family had a bilateral and chemotherapy... we are the first generation to survive. My cousin, diagnosed at 32, will turn 56 this year. I am a 10 year survivor now. My sister is 8 years out. Pretty freaking miraculous for our family where we lost other females to breast ca at ages 40-51. It goes back as far as a great grandmother. Anyway, I have to warn you. No matter what the outcome is at this point, it sounds like you are headed directly towards a biopsy of some sort. You have had a great deal of imaging. Frequently the only way to get a definitive answer is a biopsy. At this point, it would be hard to imagine they will just suddenly say just follow up in 6 months.
