The lastest post is an article is about how Republican's are not smart enough to like Obama. It's just the latest in Republican bashing posts. For the record I'm not Republican, I'm Independent/Libertarian but DH is Republican and my mother is fully aware of this.
I also have a beloved teacher who posted something last week about how Republican's hate Obama (the only president who has not had a scandal!) because he's black.
By the end of this election I am not going to have about 3 friends left on Facebook.
I hate politics!

I hate politics, as well. My mom either posts that stuff, or health stuff. I won't block her, but I did hide her, so she can still see and comment on things I post.

I have FIL, DH's aunt and LSS owner friend unfollowed for similar political and religious non-sense. Probably won't add them back until way after inauguration.

I've hidden a lot of relatives, and yesterday I unfriended and blocked a cousin who posted a hate-filled, racist diatribe promoting Trump in response to an article I posted about the Bush administration's own email scandal.
I am ready to just shut off Facebook.

I've unfollowed a few people as well, but mostly when I see people posting hateful, untrue, or just silly political things it makes me sad. I know these are smart people, so I don't get why they take those political posts at face value. It's like we have become a group of people who can't seem to look past the (often untrue) clickbait and dig for the truth before we share. And in my circle, it happens on both sides of the political spectrum. It's actually depressing. Very few really research, most of them just want to be spoon fed what to think.

I recently unfriendly everyone but close family on Facebook. I found I was wasting a lot of time there and the political comments were just getting stupid. I would much rather read political threads here as they often have some level of intelligent debate. After the election I may add some people back but if I'm going to spend my time online interacting with folks I prefer the Refupeas over Facebook.

I've been hiding a lot of posts on FB and might have to hide my Aunt because of political stuff she posts. I can't wait for the election season to be over. I'm tired of seeing all the bashing that is going on on FB regarding politics. Actually I'm pretty tired of seeing and hearing all the political stuff on the radio and TV. If it wasn't all so mean spirited I might not mind as much.

I have a coworker that was going on and on about some statistics that stated how fewer Southerners voted for Obama in the second election than they did in the first. That a large number of people voted for him once, but would not again. She said it was obvious that it was because he's black.
I'm like "wha??? Was he white for the first election when they voted for him but switched to black for the second???"

Yeah me too. Lots of people I've unfollowed on both sides of the spectrum. And their sources are almost always the far side extremists.

I unfollwed a friend that constantly posts anti-Muslim rants and anti-Obama rants. Too many of them were so full of incorrect information I just couldn't take it any more.

I unfriended my dh's great aunt after multiple posts calling President Obama the n word. Lots of making fun of poor people, lots of gay bashing. I just quietly unfriended and told dh. Dh refuses to have Facebook because it's lame and I am starting to think he is right.

I wish that instead of the algorithm of "showing us what we want to see" (which is failing miserably so far), Facebook would come up with a program where we could input key words to filter out of our feed.

I just unfollowed my first friend over political posts, and I predict there will be many more to follow. I unfollowed my mother a long time ago; she would post hurtful things, such as "my favorite dd's just came to visit." She has 4 dd's...only two were visiting her during that post.

There's just 1 friend that is driving me nuts. She has the cutest little boy and I enjoy those posts, but dang! I'm getting close to not following her. I would have never thought she'd be this political and to such an extreme!

I am debating hiding a friend of 30+ years over political posts on FB. Not because she's posting them, or because I don't agree with her position (although I don't), but because she's taken to calling those who will vote differently than her "stupid, brainwashed, unintelligent & frustrating". Alrighty, then.

Thankfully, my FB friends don't post much political stuff at all, and my OTT relatives who parrot the FOX pundits mercifully won't do FB.
I did have to hide one SIL, but that was because of her constant attention-seeking vaguebooking.

I know the feeling. When DH joined Facebook a year or so ago I made the conscious decision not to follow him because of his - and his friends' reposting/sharing of political things that I didn't share the same viewpoint or that were stupid or untrue (i.e. he would share something that if you looked up in Snopes was found not to be true, stuff like that).

I am ready to just shut off Facebook. But see I don't get why anyone has to post any articles etc pointing fingers at the other side. I assume you would of had to expect backlash to your post??? Several people on my FB had posted pretty ugly things about the results of the FBI investigation. I posted an article that reminded people that there had been a similar scandal, mostly ignored, during the Bush administration, and shared my opinion that neither major party was fit to rule. I encouraged people to look into a third party candidate. It devolved from there, but no, the original post was not inflammatory and simply encouraged people to consider third party candidates. So I didn't really expect a backlash. I don't mind some discussion and disagreement on FB, but what my cousin posted went way beyond a simple difference of opinion and reflected some extremely ugly and racist views. This isn't the first time he has shared these views on my FB, either. This is an adult cousin I haven't seen in probably 20 years. I can definitely live without this person in my life.

Fortunately my mother isn't on fb. I don't know if she is voting at all this year...I just can't see her voting for Trump.
I have had to unfollow a handful of people that were annoying me with their politics.

While my dad was still living, I refused to be friends with him on FB. He posted so much racist, conspiracy theory, anti public school crap that I couldn't tolerate it. My mom thought I was being cruel, but if I read his stuff everyday, I would not have been able to speak to him without losing it. I don't post religious or political things on FB. I don't mind reading it or responding to others if it is an intelligent discussion, but I hate the rabid stuff from both sides. One of my high school friends posts constantly about how much he loves Hilary and is very rude about anyone who doesn't agree. I actually like her and it ticks me off.

I disfollowshipped my mom because she is a Trump fan. I really think she's gone dotty. This is a bra-burning feminist from way back. I feel like I don't know her sometimes. I also have disfollowshipped a lot of relatives who are super-into posting Jesus stuff. I love my family but I'm an atheist and I don't need inspirational memes about how god has a plan for me. I have cancer so if that's his plan he can go fuck himself.

I have unfollowed a few family members as well as not accepted invitations from a few family members because I don't want to know their TMI and major drama going on in their life.
I also had a "Debbie Downer" former co-worker/friend that I get notified if they post, but I have to click on it to view it. Most of the time I regret clicking on it.
