So it seems so many people don't like to read political thoughts on FB. I am one of them. I don't even care if it's on my side. I hate it! And I love politics. I love discussing politics, but I hate this extremeness on both sides.

I voted No, never. I'd be very happy to return to that old adage of never discussing politics and religion in polite company. I have had to unfollow people on both sides this year, something I've never had to do before. The lack of tolerance and civility is just appalling.

I voted. I rant... I love discussing politics and I use FB as a platform to express my adimiration or disgust. I have a couple of like-minded friends with whom I can get very fired up about politics.. But I warn people that I mainly use it for political talk so friend me at your own risk.

I don't rant. I will post some thoughts, like last year when gay marriage was in the courts.
I will also question some people here and there.

I have bosses on both sides of the political fence, so I steer clear on FB. I even have to be careful about "liking" political posts.
ETA: no finger-wagging "You shouldn't have your employer as a FB friend" comments, please. It was a calculated risk.

I didn't vote because none of the choices quite fit. Very occasionally I'll post something mildly political. The last time was probably when marriage equality was validated by the Supreme Court. But I don't post much on Facebook to begin with.

Nope, I bite my tongue until my mouth is bloody but I will not engage. A few people that I used to feel very highly about have gone down in my opinion because of their posts. For what it's worth, I have a high school classmate who is related to President Obama through his mother and I cringe when other classmates post garbage about him. Most people don't know what I know. At our 50th reunion he came up to DH and me and told DH that I am his favorite conservative. lol.

I'm not very political...when it comes to politics I'm very middle of the road with how I feel (I'm actually like this with most things also) but I don't talk about it on fb, here or anywhere else. I like to keep all my social media and this place my "happy place".

I'm in Kate's shoes. I have a no "like" click policy on any shared articles. I don't change my profile picture EVER, even if I believe in the cause. I will express sorrow for individual people in the news, but never political figures.
I try to be as neutral as Switzerland. My presence on Facebook isn't about discussing politics. I save that for the RefuPeas. LOL

ETA: no finger-wagging "You shouldn't have your employer as a FB friend" comments, please. It was a calculated risk. I hate having my boss as my FB friend. I felt I had no choice when she friended me and it pissed me off. Now she is extremely right wing and writes about it. It just makes me annoyed at her. I am super careful about what I write because for the most part I have respectful friends. I have one on the dem side who is insane with her comments and quite a few more on the right (I live in a Republican area, so that's to be expected) who post crazy stuff and it makes me not appreciate any of them. I can have a sane conversation with sane people on the other side. I just hate the ranters on any side.

I use Facebook not only to keep in touch with my friends and family goings-on, but also as my newsfeed by following multiple news and non profit organizations. I like a few articles a day that I agree with. I rarely share or comment. I try to like articles I think are thought provoking or good summaries of complex issues vs. snarky memes.

I have had to unfollow people on both sides this year, something I've never had to do before. The lack of tolerance and civility is just appalling. My mom was a lapsed Catholic and a Republican, and her best friend was Catholic and a staunch Democrat. By mutual agreement, they never discussed religion or politics, and they remained friends for over 50 years.

I rarely post about politics but I did post a few articles and thoughts recently over our referendum. I didn't rant but I probably was quite direct in what I said.

It depends.
I have been known to rant, but not that often.....I have definitely unfollowed quite a few people over the last three or four month though. When you are posting crap from some pretty far out there web sites is when you have lost me as one of your audience.

I post mostly tongue-in-cheek stuff, food-related posts, and lots of family pics/news on FB.
I don't consider myself "political." That doesn't mean I don't have views and opinions. I will occasionally post a statement about something happening in the world, but it will almost certainly have a personal slant to it --- as in my reaction to what happened.
I despise the back and forth haranguing that goes on with politics. I don't de-friend or hide anyone on FB (or here), but I sure do skip over the posts and people who do that.

I occasionally post a political thought or article, but I have lots of co-workers and even some former students' parents on my FB, so I try to keep it informative rather than inflammatory. If someone posts something hateful and ugly on my feed, though, I'm going to go after them for it. I won't just stand idly by when someone posts racist comments on one of my posts.
Honestly, if someone wants to unfollow or unfriend me for expressing my opinion or liking a post or article where someone else expressed their opinion, they're welcome to do so. Life is too short to worry about not ever offending anyone.

I may "like" an article here or there that someone else has shared, but do not post anything on my own. I miss the days when FB was just a fun place to catch up with old friends and family and see what's going on with their lives. Those days are long gone.

I have never commented, posted or ranted about politics on FB until we had the EU referendum. I have since posted and commented about the result!

Never. It seems like the majority of my friends don't really post about their political beliefs either. The rare few who do it constantly get unfollowed.

Facebook is a fun/light place for me, so I steer clear of politics altogether. I don't mind that others post political things (I have friends on both ends of the political spectrum), but as soon as things get belligerent, they get un-followed. I can respect a difference of opinion/belief, I do not want to see/hear from those who turn disrespectful. My goal is to have a Facebook feed filled with recipes, cute animals, and inappropriate humor.

I voted No, never. I'd be very happy to return to that old adage of never discussing politics and religion in polite company. I have had to unfollow people on both sides this year, something I've never had to do before. The lack of tolerance and civility is just appalling. I agree wholeheartedly with this. My mama always said not to talk about your money or your politics. I also voted NO, Never. IT's funny because I was just thinking about this very thing this morning on my way in to work. One of my most politically vocal FB friends (also a customer, so I don't delete or block him) posted this morning a tiny hair flip that he thinks he's going to back off FB awhile because he simply can't stand the vitriol anymore - on both sides. It was surprising because he is so vehement himself. I hate politics. I have never missed voting in a presidential election, but I rarely talk about it. When I do it's to educate my kids (in so much as I can with my limited knowledge and understanding) or DH. I also don't fall on either side of the spectrum. I am socially liberal and financially conservative - so who do I vote for? I have voted democrat and republican in my lifetime, and I have no idea who to vote for this year. I despise them both. But I read a piece this week (a blog post someone posted on FB of course) the title was something like "My non vote just turned into a trump vote" - obviously after the FBI decision a few days ago. It really got me thinking…but I still just can't stomach Trump. Nor do I think I can vote for Hillary. I am at a loss and am hoping for some clarity in my mind and heart before the time comes to make a decision. I still may not vote - as has been my stance for the last few months - for the first time since I turned 18, but THAT thought makes me feel awful too. How can I not - as a woman, as a business owner, and a citizen? I am so torn. Either way, I fear for our country. I am admittedly not the most informed person in a political sense. I hate hearing it and reading it, and honestly most of what I read I read here LOL. The Peas have long been a vast font of knowledge for little ol me

I've had to unfollow so many friends recently I barely have anyone left on my newsfeed. Personally I never post anything political. I too wish we'd go back to the days of not discussing politics (and religion). But, kittens ... You can never post too many cat photos!
