Read the thread by seveerb about the rule of only making pico de gallo while drinking a margarita got me to wondering. How do the RefuPeas make margaritas? Sounds like a great rule to me, btw.

If I have the patience I use the Alton Brown recipe. If I'm lazy I just add Kirkland margarita mix over ice and drink!

I buy Trader Joe's Margaritas already mixed, just add salt to the rim of the glass, add ice and pour! We keep a bottle in the refrigerator so they are always available. But sometimes we go quite a while before using it.

I take the pre made pineapple/coconut mix out of the fridge and pour over ice. My husband gave me the salt/lime juice/sugar holder for my birthday and my son gave me the bottle of margaritas. Drinks for Dummies!

Buy a bottle of premixed at Costco, preferably on sale!

Kirkland mix with tequila already in there, such a good deal too, dh bought the same kind of thing in Jose Cuervo and it was double the price at the supermarket. We blend it in the ninja, or should I say dh blends it and generally puts it in my thunder from down under hurricane glass that I got in Las Vegas one year on my birthday. That or in our tiki mugs which I'm sure is tiki sacrilege but I love those mugs.

I also love the Kirkland brand for quick and easy...sometimes we float some Grand Marnier on top. I don't think we can get it in Canada though. My favourite restaurant margarita is the white peach margarita at Tacos & Tequila....I wish I could duplicate that one!

I tell dh that I'm feeling like a margarita and he makes me one. I really only care for strawberry margaritas though. I know he uses Newman's Lemonade and Limeaid, Patron, Grenadine...ummmm, oh yeah and pulverized strawberries! YUM!

I find the Kirkland brand leaves an aftertaste. Maybe it's just me. Well, DH too.

Oh I forgot about strawberry margaritas, instead of ice use frozen strawberries which I get at Costco, and blend with the Kirkland mix. I love that when the strawberries are good, I went through like 3 bags of sour strawberries and we had to add sugar to our smoothies and margaritas, but usually it's not necessary.

We have a margaritaville machine. Best investment ever! Can I just head to your house? Need to get some mix and Grand Marnier soon! My first ever "real" margarita was a strawberry margarita at El Torito in Dallas on Central Expressway by Northwest Hwy. way back in the '82. Best margarita ever!

I was drinking Kirkland pre-made tonight. If we want frozen we go around the corner to a place that has really great ones, so I've never bothered to make them myself.

I make a mean cucumber jalapeno margarita. I use homemade sweet and sour mix (made with lemons, lime, agave nectar and a dash of fresh orange). I muddle a few pieces of unpeeled, thinly sliced cucumber at the bottom of my pitcher with some of the sweet and sour mix. Add the rest of the sweet and sour to the pitcher once the cucumber is muddled, and add tequila to taste. I add a couple of slices of de-seeded jalapeno and a few thinly sliced cucumbers to the pitcher. I like to use chili lime salt (like Tajeen) for the rim of the glass, and I always serve these margaritas on the rocks. Garnish with a slice of cucumber and a slice of jalapeno if the drinker is up to it. This recipe is a huge hit whenever I make it.

We either but the premixed stuff and just pour over ice or buy the mix and tequila and do a 4:1 mix.
DH tried to do the whole from scratch thing and declared the premixed stuff better.

My favorite recipe is this one:
1/2 can frozen lemonade concentrate (thawed) 1/2 can frozen limeade concentrate (thawed) 1/2 to 3/4 cup powdered sugar 3 - 1 liter bottles of club soda
Mix together lemonade, limeade and powdered sugar. Then add club soda and stir. Club soda will be fizzy and could over flow so use a big pitcher!
It's so good. Even without tequila. LOL

I've been drinking margaritas recently. I bought casa de noble tequila for $50 and already am making my way through the bottle quickly. I read that's the best tequila, but don't know if the liquor store gauged that price? Anyway, my recipe is 1 ounce tequila, .5 ounce triple sec, half a lime, simple syrup, then some fruit thrown into the blender. I didn't' know Trader Joe's sells a mix.

Casa noble is my dh's favorite. We make scratch margaritas with it all the time. Tequila, lime, triple sec.

Now that I've finally realized I can use the Vitamix for something good (not a smoothie drinker), I'm making them at home. The secret is adding Cointreau. Makes a good margarita an awesome margarita!

I agree; the Cointreau adds a lot. I actually make my "smoothies" more like a frozen drink - I put in my fresh fruit and spinach, and usually some kind of citrus, and a generous amount of ice and water. I don't like thick, chalky smoothies (DH puts in protein powder, which I find disgusting) but a refreshing one in the hot weather is great.

My husband makes awesome margaritas. 1 can frozen Limeade 1 can tequila 1/3 can triple sec Juice of 2 lemons
He keeps the mixture in the fridge In a small pitcher . When we want a margarita we put ice in the blender and add some of our homemade mix. It's delicious and very fresh tasting, doesn't have the fake taste that some mixes have.

Lol coincidentally dh told me he bought 4 bottles of Kirkland margarita Mix. I usually buy one and it lasts months. Time to have some margaritas! Well not right now since it's 9 in the morning, but when we make dinner or something :-)
This is why I do most of our Costco runs!
