I didn't want to see that since we will be there in a couple of weeks. Guess we will be staying indoors a lot! We're head that way in 3 weeks also. Heaven help us!

93 and the humidity is off the hook. Go out to the mailbox in the evenings and you are drenched by the time you get back to the house.

In two weeks I jumped from Missouri to Florida to Phoenix to San Francisco. Going from 110 to a high of 70 in a few hours will be a shock. It's too bad I have to go back to Missouri humidity after San Francisco.

I'm not feeling very bad about moving out of Texas last month. I'm sure I'll be regretting it in January, but not now.
I read an article about the expected heat wave that is to take over next week and affect the whole country, except the Northwest, apparently it's going to be especially brutal in the mid west because of a phenomena called "corn sweat". Corn stalks collect so much dew they can cause stifling humidity rates. I learned a new term. And I'm glad I don't live there either, with all the sweaty corn.
That said, we'll be in the hundreds for at least a few days, but at least it's a dry heat. Like a kiln.

And this, boys and girls, is why I live in MI where temperatures with three digits are an anomaly. It is worth putting up with all the snow and cold temperatures to avoid 100+ days.

It's currently pushing 67 degrees in my neck of the woods. It's also overcast, gloomy, and is raining lightly off and on (I live outside of Seattle). I'm not asking for the blazing heat so many of you are living with, but man, I wish the sun would come out and STAY out for an entire day; I'm really struggling with depression, and the sunshine makes a huge difference to me. The last few summers here have been abnormally hot and dry; this one, so far, is shaping up to be damp and cool.
I'd offer my house as refuge, but with five adults, a two year old and four dogs all in residence, the inn is full, lol!

It is about 24C outside now and will be down a lot more later on. We live right by the ocean and it is cool here. We talk about moving but giving up our house near the ocean would be very hard. Very, very hard. I suspect it will get down to about 12 tonight. Heaven on earth!

That's our forecast for Kentucky this week. Thurs, Fri, and Sat look fun. Not. Ugh...how freaking depressing. Those are reg temps too...with humidity of 2000% it'll be miserable. Gotta love that air you wear. ETA: This summer has been one of the hottest we've had in a while. We usually get a couple 100 degree days and a few 95+ days but mostly stay in the 90 degree range. This year 95+ has been the norm, and we have had several 100 degree days. This made me chuckle a little. Our Friday/Saturday is forecasted to be 115. I almost died on the golf course yesterday following my son who was playing in a tournament. I literally thought I was dying. He threw up. I forced myself to not throw up. It has been such a hot summer. I mean it's always hot but a lot of 115, 120.

Aww, thank you; that means a lot to me. So today is partly to mostly cloudy, though it's sunny right this moment. And it's 66. Forecast high is 74, but if the clouds increase as they have been doing we won't hit that.

(It is just a heat index map of central Florida-with all the heat indexes at or above the 100 degree mark. It isn't anything different than a lot of other places in the country.) It's different for me! I looked on my phone. Current temperature is 85 and feels like 85. I do dry heat better. If it gets over 2% humidity, I'm feeling it! refugeepea: Same here!!!!!!!! It's always over 40% humidity here. Right now it's got to be over 85% humidity. Luckily, according to anxiousmom's map, I live where it's "only" 98 degrees, but I swear that it feels like it's 130 out because of the humidity. Feels like you're walking thru thick pea soup. Ick!! I'd take dry heat any day!

We went to Death Valley in July one time and it was 117 degrees with a wind speed of about 30 mph. It felt like you had a giant hair dryer blowing on you. I could handle it so much better though without the humidity. This 85% humidity is just gross. I can see how people can get dehydrated quickly in dry heat. The moisture is just sucked out of you and you don't even realize it. Here...the moisture just sticks to you.

and, of course, school holidays start tomorrow! They broke up last Friday here. That's lovely, it gives parents another full week option re a holiday. Only one school around here broke up on Friday, I think they are using their inset days this week. Midday is the "School's out for summer" moment for my dd. A whole lot of nothing planned at the moment, she is so tired.

Humidity is pretty intolerable, too. Once the monsoons get going it's hot AND humid. Blech.
