Are they exclusive to SC or just hard to find elsewhere?

I don't know, I haven't seen them. But I think they'd be a challenge to work with because the size/shape change would be so outside the box.

I wish someone else would make them, but w/the standard ring placement so I could use regular PP and not have to repunch holes.

Look for sheet music binders. They are 9x12 with standard rings. I got a few off of Amazon.

That is a great idea. I found a 9x12 binder from Bazzill but that's all I could come up with.

Those look pretty ideal for layouts! I wonder if these were the sheet music binders that heartistic was talking about?

I LOVE the 9x12 size. However, I hate SC. And the page protectors seem to always be out of stock when I need them. I feel like at any moment, SC will abandon the 9x12 idea and I'm going to be left either either no albums and a ton of page protectors or the opposite. And I'm annoyed that they didn't use standard D ring placement (which means I have to punch holes in any non-SC branded page protector I get)
My fuse should be arriving today and I'm going to try cutting down a 12x12. It' probably going to fail, so thanks for the sheet music protector idea!
Is the Bazzill binder 3 rings or 4 rings?

I love the idea of the 9x12 size because it works with standard photo sizes in a way that 8.5x11 just can't. I'm so bummed that no one else really jumped onto that opportunity. There's still the option of using Marcy Penner's original plan - cutting down a basic chipboard 12x12 album (you just cut about 3 inches off the cover, not terribly difficult, especially if you have access to power tools). The WRMK chipboard albums with the cloth spine are the ones she used originally. I couldn't tell from the picture by the Bazzill one that is always almost out of stock doesn't look very thick, spine-wise. heartistic can you share how roughly thick they are?

They feel thick enough to me. Like, I'm not worried that they will fall apart. Sorry, I'm not sure how to specify how thick they are.

Yes, sorry heartistic, I was having trouble explaining what I meant - I was thinking about how many pages you could fit in one binder. Most binders tell you they are 10" wide, 12" tall, and then they tell you how wide/thick the spine is (maybe 1" or 3") to give you an idea of how many pages you can store inside. The picture on amazon looks like it's a thin binder, maybe only 1.5" or 2", but it's hard to tell from the picture!

Found info on the Keep Filing website which says the spine is 2 3/8". www.keepfiling.com/mobile/Product.aspx?id=26

Thanks anniefb and heartistic! That's not bad. I'll have to compare that to the Letter sized albums I have, but I think it's pretty close. Now my big question to the universe is, how do we convince some other companies to make us PRETTY 9x12 binders with some fun page protector designs and keep them in stock?!

Maybe we should get those black plain 9x12 music binders and start a thread to show how to paint/color/decorate them?

I'm about ** this close to trying it. But I suck at painting things. But maybe it's time to give it another go. If I do, I'll come back and post.

Btt for @oaksongstudio although this thread is more about the 9x12 albums than the sheet protectors lol.
Oh well... anyone have anything to add lol?

I bought several of the 9x12 marble albums from ABM. Not my style so I am going to try and change the colour of the albums. The quality isn't great but they were inexpensive so worth the gamble.

I bought some 9x12 in the mega sale. I just really want to have an easy PL system. 12x12 is too big and 8.5x11 takes too much customization. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Sleepy early morning brain here but I do actually know the answer to this! Look for the Seven Paper 9x12 albums SC did. They are faux leather, wide spine with universal 3-ring placement! All you need to do is cut down/fuse 12x12 PP from any major universal ring placement brand (Becky Higgins, Simple Stories, WRMK, etc.) and you're ready to go. There are still places selling these. I've got the aqua leather one which I still haven't used. I remember there being a gold one for sure as well. A hot pink (proper Barbie pink) version too, I believe? Light grey as well. They are well-made and sturdy albeit a little less than WRMK and Simple Stories Sn@p faux leather.

Thanks for bumping the thread nicolep. These are the albums I have, bought on sale somewhere. I really like the size for pocket pages. Looks like more validation for the idea of using music page protectors or cutting down 12x12s with the fuse. I may order some of 9x12 protector to give it a try.
