I haven't used Uber, but we used Lyft while we were in SF and had a good experience. Like most others said, really nice driver and car. He offered the use of his cell phone charger too. We would definitely use again.

I haven't been a passenger but I've had 2 other good experiences with them.
We own a body shop and we recently partnered with several local businesses to do a contest for people who would spread the word about AAA's free ride home program on July 4th for impaired drivers. I had never even heard of Uber but one of the other sponsors passed our contest info along to Uber, who reached out to me with a $100 gift certificate for the winner of our contest to shuttle them to and from the event the prize tickets were for.
Then a few weeks later on National Ice Cream Day, they were doing a promo where $30 bought you 6 ice cream bars delivered and part of the profits went to our local children's hospital. I ordered them for our guys and they showed up less than 10 minutes later.
I have a feeling it won't be legal for long, so I think that they're trying to come on hard and strong for as long as possible and capitalize on their window.

Yes we use it in town if we're going to be drinking and when we travel. Love it...have never had a bad experience. I know the local cab companies are all up in arms about the service.

I travel often for work and use it almost exclusively now. It's awesome.

I have a co-worker that used Uber recently. They were picked up and dropped off at their destination without incident. When the Uber driver came to get them to take them home, they got about half way home before realizing the driver was drunk! They made him get off the freeway and got out and called a friend to get them the rest of the way home. Scary! Not cool - back to wondering about their hiring and screening process ...but same issue with cabs or anything else really huh?
