A very happy birthday to Trixie Bender and feel better soon wishes to oldcrow. I'll make spaghetti with marinara sauce tonight (and garlic bread). I'm going on a short 3 day girls only vacation tomorrow and cannot wait. No cooking for me until Saturday DH is great on his own. In fact he requested some junk from the store today which leads me to believe he'll be happily re visiting his bachlor cooking days. On his list: Kraft Mac and Cheese, peanut butter, Life cereal, cookie dough, fish sticks, and Klondike bars. Have at it dear, and we'll get back to normal dinners when I return.

I do not know, it will be whatever they are serving at the hospital. Doc has decided that I need to go in for tests and whatever and I will be there at least until Friday. So it looks like the practice DH has had with fending for himself is going to come in handy. Talk to all of you later. I am hoping it is your parathyroid, as I mentioned, I had mine out a couple of years ago. They also admitted me. I was going back and forth getting my blood checked, after the last one, the doctor called me and let me know that my calcium was really high, very concerning and was wondering how I felt about admitting myself into the hospital. Um, no problem! It was about 3 weeks from the start until I was admitted and that calcium just kept rising. Never learned so much about a parathyroid, never knew it existed! They, of course, had to rule out all other possibilities but knew it was the parathyroid. Was admitted on a Saturday and had the surgery on the following Wednesday, home by Thursday. This is usually just a day surgery, but since my levels were so high, I guess they wanted to keep an eye on me. A little humor in this, the usual age range for having to remove the parathyroid is 60+ years. I had all sorts of looks when they would walk into my room. They had to check the charts and would ask me why I was there. Kept asking if I was sure that was why. Yep, I was 41 at the time, I like to throw a curve ball at the docs every once in awhile. I hope you will be able to come and visit us while you are there. For dinner, we are having Chinese. SO will be working late and it's just the two of us this week again, so this works out fine. Happy Birthday Trixie Bender!!

Somehow I planned mac&cheese & hot dogs for the day after Hamburger Helper. Two cheesy meals in a row? Forget the unhealthy part . . .
So now I'm not sure if I'm feelin' it or we'll have something else. Older son is going out (and just ate the leftover Nacho Pasta for lunch, which takes that of the menu!) so it's just 2 of us again. Cereal? Frozen pizza? Who knows . . .

We had a work dinner and I ate far too much: Fried calamari with Szechuan pepper, soy and ginger dipping sauce Pumpkin & kale croquettes with mustard yoghurt and pickled onions (the picked onions tasted just like the pickles on a Big Mac - yum!) Bossam pork belly, chopped salad, pork bubble (no idea WTF a "pork bubble" is, but this entree was basically a pork belly slider) Slow cooked lamb shoulder, haricot beans, salse verde, preserved lemon And hot chips with garlic aioli. Lots and lots of chips. Too many chips. But man they were delicious.
