but then the investment per die is quite a bit more and limited to the die. While this is true, you have to think outside the box on dies and what else they can be used for. Sometimes I may need something really tiny cut out for paper piecing, and if I can find the shape I need on a die, I will use it.
Showing this card as an example - the noses are from a die. The nose on the Wookie - is a piece of candy from a die, his face/feet are clouds, as well as what is behind the cloud (I would have to look to see what I used). The light sabers are part of a pirate ship mast. Yoda's ears are leaves. Princess Leia's poufy hair is part of a hibiscus die. There are bits and pieces from several dies to make these characters - more like punch art.
Wow! I love this!

Here is the BEST part about the fonts and Silhouette. You can download Wordmarkit.com. This is amazing. You can type in your title or a word from your title and Wordmarkit will show you EXACTLY what your title will look like cut out using each and every font on your computer. Thank you thank you 950nancy! Just used Worldmark.it to select the font for my next title and you're right - it's absolutely amazing. I was able to filter the script fonts I was interested in to narrow down my selection and decide which looked best. Wow this tool is awesome!

Another reason to try out the Cameo - just made my first sketch background yesterday. Now I'm hooked! So many functions anniefb Can you give me a little more detail on what/how you did this?

So many functions anniefb Can you give me a little more detail on what/how you did this? nicolep to sketch you can actually use any cut design, or one designed for sketching (there are some in the Silhouette Design store like this one. You just basically replace your ratchet blade with a Silhouette sketch pen and then select the sketch pen option in the cut settings window, then the Cameo draws your background rather than cutting it. Here's my Cameo at work with a metallic gold pen: Attachment DeletedAnd I just ordered some more colours on Amazon SaveSave

So, not to sound stupid...but what will you use that for anniefb ? As the background for a layout about my trip to Jerusalem. So just thinking of it like patterned paper. You could use small sketched images on tags/cards as the focal point (or sketch your sentiments) instead of stamping. Here are some project ideas from the Silhouette School Blog. www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2014/05/31-silhouette-sketch-pen-project.htmlSaveSave

So, not to sound stupid...but what will you use that for anniefb ? I create a lot of my own paper piecings and I use the pen tools to draw on things that would be too small or putzy to cut and glue like eyes or mouths, buttons on snowmen, icing details on gingerbread men, sometimes with single stroke journaling fonts combined with diecut words to create longer titles, etc. The pen tool is one of my most used accessories for my cutter.

I didn't read through all the responses in full, but I think my Cameo has saved me lots of $$$ on letter stickers over the years. I actually don't own any dies/manual cutters because I've always been happy with what I can find or make with the Cameo.

You could also use your electronic cutter to make your own letter stickers, if a person really wanted them!
