Every single time this comes up. Why is it so difficult to scroll past and not click. I manage it all the time on titles I don't care about. I do this for 90% of the political posts as well as any other posts that don't interest me. leaving seems to be a bit drastic when then is an easy solution.

I get what stampstace is saying. I don't equate them to innocuous instant pot or fitness threads because political threads are so polarizing and negative and can stir up emotions just seeing the titles. I think a better comparison (for me) is people posting multiple threads about children or pets dying in horrific ways. So yes I do scroll by but just reading titles is enough to trigger a despondent feeling and make me feel hopeless for a bit. I *know* posters are fighting in there and it hits me in the gut, it makes me feel hopeless. It doesn't help that the titles themselves are very adversarial from the get go.
I understand why admins don't want to add a political board and will continue scrolling but I can't say I don't feel the same way as stampstace.

There are 40 threads on the front page right now. 31 of them are about something that's not politics. I counted.
Obviously this number can go up and down. But I don't feel it's as massively out of proportion as some people as making out

I don't want a separate board, but even as a frequent contributor to political threads and an ardent loather (ha) of Trump, I'm exhausted by every stupid thing he does/says getting a new thread.
I'd like to see if maybe, just maybe we can police ourselves a bit and consolidate threads. You know. a single thread for "What Dumbass Shit Has Trump Done Today?" ok, joking, but you get the point. If we could keep it to a couple of running threads - kind of like the season long TV threads - maybe that would make a better experience for everyone. It would also reduce the repetitive statements that get made on multiple threads.
Just an idea.

Normally I would 142.986% agree that a separate board would not be needed. However, right now there are 8 threads on the first page about politics. And IDK if I'm just at my max capacity for politics or extra crabby this morning, but even I, who happily scrolls on by and never participates in political threads thought, "Holy hell that's an overload of politics this morning!" I know it will only get worse. And perhaps I just need more coffee and a better scrolling finger, accompanied by a more positive attitude. But I come here for some lighter reading and escape. I know it's me and my problem though

I hope you stick around.
I think there will soon be at least as many threads about the Olympics as there are about politics.

Then dammit I want an instapot board! I don't have one and those posts are so annoying! (sarcasm) And a dinner board. Tacky invite board. What would the Peas Do? My neighbors annoy me bc... Cute puppy board Proud/disappointed in my kids/spouse/bff/employer bc... Vent board And on and on... this board is interesting to me bc a diverse group of women post about a variety of things every day. I have the choice to read about politics, bratty kids, awesome kids, recipes, books, random weirdness and puppies. Or not. From some of the smartest, snarkiest, insightful women I've had the pleasure of come across for over 16yrs. Read what resonates and scroll on by...or leave, but no need to cut off ones nose to spite one's face if you enjoy it otherwise.

It's very easy to tell which ones are political. They all start with "Trump is the Antichrist" or "Hillary is a liar" . True dat!

Depending on what you do, perhaps work. Real life conversations. November can't get here fast enough.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes to a political board. Hate thinking I'm opening a non-political thread by the title and it's still political. Last night at one time I think there were only five non-political posts on front page.

If I've missed any I need to know, I feel as though I must impart my political wisdom on them as well.

I think we need two ongoing posts that people can add to, day after day. We can title them: WTF did Trump say/do now and Hillary's latest lies in here Cause we know it's the SSDD. Nothing changes. I feel sorry for our non-US peas having to suffer through this 18 month shit show. We might break the ProBoards record on most number of thread pages!!! I say we do it. LOL! SaveSave

stampstace don't leave, stick around and start a few threads. Has the two-fold benefit of giving the rest of us a chance to get to know you, and potentially pushing some of the political threads off the front page!

bigbundt -- I am starting to realize also that it's not just political posts, but have noticed the trending column on Facebook --- it's all about who is killed and how -- traffic accident, shootings, deaths.... I wish there was a way to turn Trending off on FB!

Which is why I never participate to begin with. It's pointless. Besides, I don't think they are doing it to change people's minds. I think they are doing it to stir the pot, because they KNOW their opinion is not going to change what others think. Well, speaking only for myself, I'm not a pot-stirrer. I participate in the Trump threads because I am speechless and flabergasted and astonished and bunches of other things that this man is actually a candidate for president of the United States. I mostly meant the OP's. And, I'm just as astonished that Clinton is our only other choice. Not much to look forward to, on either side, if you ask me.

I have no problem scrolling by ( if I choose that day ) especially since so many have been kind enough to either label it politics or make it clear with the title. I have a problem with the donut threads with no warning we really should have a donut board so I'm not ambushed by donut desire. Lol

And, you can block certain posters here, just not threads. An unfortunate feature Proboards does not have. I asked. It's not just political threads. Some days I don't want to know what's for dinner, birthdays, or even pet threads (don't have them). I do like the feature of choosing a thread as read forever. It's unfortunate some of the threads pop up to the top over and over.

I don't want to see this board broken up into a bunch of sub boards. Allowing opens it up to requests for others because someone doesn't want to have to see something else. I seriously don't understand the I can't ignore it so you should save me from having to see it mentality.

I totally understand but yeah just keep scrolling... I wish there was a magic way that political stuff just doesn't show up.. here or FB.. or my husband's mouth.. haha... I HATE it.....
I have my opinion and so does everyone else. Doesn't make one right or one wrong. Period.

I think I wouldn't visit the political board, however when forced to see the thread on here, I open it and get informed on a recent topic I missed on the news. You always have the option of not opening the threads.
