don't bother, she dislikes the U.S. and jumps at any opportunity to bash us. I have certainly picked up on that over the years. Honestly, as a US citizen I can not think of last time I concerned myself with another Country's business that had no effect on me and I couldn't imagine doing so to the extent she does. Seems like a sad way to live, always worrying about what the neighbors are doing rather than living your own life and enjoying your own back yard. Some people are capable of multitasking - worrying about neighbours and minding their own backyard. Not my cup of tea, personally but then again, the whole over-the-top 'sad way to live' bullshit isn't my cuppa either.

Not my cup of tea, personally but then again, the whole over-the-top 'sad way to live' bullshit isn't my cuppa either. I don't think it's over the top at all. It's an observation I've made many times in real life... Including my own life. Once upon a time I was so busy sticking my nose in what everyone else was doing, that really had no effect on me and while I was doing so i was on the cell phone, bitching about someone else's choices and desicions, that had no bearing on me, I missed my son's first basket in basketball. That coupled with another eye opening experience about myself, I decided I was not a happy person. Might seem trivial but they were ah ha moments for me and life changing, really. Am very close with someone who hasn't come to that conclusion and I can say with certainty they are miserable. Obviously, we are talking about a bigger scale but my experience is exactly what I draw my "mind your own back yard" mantra from. I think it IS a sad way to live because I lived it and am willing to admit it. I just don't see the purpose in constantly bashing the people of another country. It doesn't seem productive to any one's happiness.

Judging someone's life as sad based on opinions expressed on a message board, to me, fits the definition.

And the same could be said about a judging a whole country based on the actions of four people. That fits the definition as well.

It's because her back yard is cold and all the funny people move to the US the minute they get famous.

I just saw a snippet of an interview RL gave to Matt Lauer, he was getting all teary and giving all sorts of "I disappointed my teammates" blah blah blah. I had to turn the channel. Too little, too late!
