Why do women have to endure pain to remove facial hair? Or any hair for that matter? Why are we seemingly terrified of a fast easy hair removal method used by men for decades/centuries? I bought a $25 men's electric razor from a big box store. My face contours are the same as many male's. I shave the peachy fuzz on my cheeks (it just grows back as peach fuzz) and my "hag hair" on my chin which is quite whiskery but it is whisker like no matter how I remove it. Twice a week a quick run around my face and I stay hair free. No reaction to wax or chemicals, no stinging pull of hair leaving its root. No paying a cosmetologist on a regular basis. So this was going to be my question - about the regrowth. I get my lip waxed once a month. It grows back soft and is unnoticeable. I do have that peach fuzz around the jawline and wonder, if I shaved it, how it would regrow. I don't want a five-clock shadow...

Your hair color and texture is controlled by genetics and hormones; not by how it gets removed.

I bought that spring thingy years ago and it didn't work for me. It worked best on fine hairs but you have to have enough growth for the spring to grab on to, and I don't want to wait that long for that much growth. That's why I'm not a fan of threading either. I want it off before it grows too long.
That said, I recently started shaving too. I was sick and tired of having to wax all the time.
I get the hag chin hairs and I do pluck those because the regrowth takes longer than cutting off at the skin surface when you wax, shave or thread. If you are lucky you get down to the root.
I found the little shavers super cheap at Daiso, the Japanese dollar store. They sell them in two packs for $1.50 so every time I go I just grab a bunch of packs. One razor lasts me a long time, too. So now I shave my mustache, clean up the sides of my eyebrows and between the brow across the bridge. The little shaver has piece of plastic/cover that slides across the blade so you can control how wide a path the razor shaves. I love those things they work perfect for a woman's face. You can find them on Amazon too, but if you are lucky enough to have a Daiso near you then pick them up there.
I'll never ever go back to waxing or treading. This works great for me.

Your hair color and texture is controlled by genetics and hormones; not by how it gets removed. While that's true, waxing can distort the hair follicle over time so that the new hairs, when they grow back, don't always lie flat as they would normally but can stick up or out and generally don't look as natural as untouched hair.

Eff that spring tool! It brings tears to my eyes.
I have some major peach fuzz since passing 40 + I have one stubborn chin hair that pops up randomly. I carry a tweezer in my purse for that one because I don't seem to notice until I'm out of the house! For the rest, I also use one of the battery operated ones. Works great and pain free! I have also learned not to use the magnifying mirror anymore. It makes me feel bad about myself LOL.

How does it work? I can't figure it out from the photo. Here, I found a video! hair spring video
she shows doing it as an inverted U. I also just stretch it and catch hairs...watch the video and then if you have any questions, you can ask me....I'll ask my friend! does it hurt like hell? Watching the video made my eyes water imagining the pain. I pluck my mustache daily. I have some pretty dark whiskers in my mustache, but I've had that thing since 7th grade. I used to get teased for it. I'm Portuguese...we are hairy!

How the heck did I not know there are Daiso stores in the U.S? I still have a lot of things I bought from them when I lived in Japan, & I left in 1999! Too bad I don't live anywhere near one. I have no problem saying I shave. I have naturally black hair (I dye it red), pale as a ghost (seriously, I lived In England & they thought I was pale), & Rosacea. So all other methods are out. And really, the happy bonus of exfoliating in a way that doesn't irritate my Rosacea is pretty great. I usually go every couple days before things pop back up. Now I'm planning a visit to oh Yvonne to get some of those Japanese shavers!

youtu.be/iGKXeQUYqlA This video played after the one linked above and I think it's probably a little more realistic re the spring thingy.

Men's facial hair is coarser and thicker than a woman's, generally speaking. Their stubble is so scratchy because of this. Any facial hair a woman has is usually thinner and softer no matter if or how she removes it.
I am speaking from experience as my cancer tried to turn me into a dude and my facial hair became very dude-like over the course of six months. There was no comparison to the texture of my face hair before and after. Even my whiskeriest chin whisker as a lady was softer than my face hair at the height of my tumor's power.
Shaving your face hair does not magically make it into dude-like face hair. That's not a thing.

How is this better than tweezers It's faster as it can remove multiple hairs at once. Men have coarser and darker facial hair due to testosterone, not because they shave. It started growing in that way as they went through puberty. And you may notice that older men don't tend to get as many fine lines around the mouth as young as women do. That's due to the exfoliation they've been doing their whole lives shaving every day. I don't do anything because no matter what method I try, it makes my skin breakout in about 100 little zits. Shaving, plucking, chemical, wax. I'd rather have peach fuzz than upper lip acne.t I wouldn't mind peach fuzz... It's the dark, coarse hairs that I have a problem with

She is super cute and I think her voice kind of reminds me of Mel B (used to be a Spice Girl) anyway, that spring thing DOES NOT hurt that bad. Seriously....it hurts, of course, but really, she was a lot over the top and dramatic!

I get a few stray wild hairs every now and then and always in the same places which are irritatingly hard to see and get to. The second they poke their coarse, ugly, dark little ends out of my skin I can FEEL them and it drives.me.CRAZY!!! I pluck them when I find them, but I go nuts if I feel one when I'm out and about somewhere and I don't have a mirror or tweezers to get it immediately. I'm also getting more "fuzzy" as I age (very fine and blonde, but still highly annoying). Happened to my older sister too when she got to be about my age. Ugh. Aging isn't for sissies! this is sooooooooooo me! I can't stand it when I feel them and am going nuts until I can pluck them successfully. I don't have many but the few I have drive me BONKERS. Would love some easy and wonderful method of removal -- but for now, I will pass on the depilatories, spring-y tools, razors, etc. I will continue to tweeze until I either can't see them or I am getting outnumbered by them and need something else.

I can't even manage to shave my legs more than every 6 weeks. I'm just rocking the 'stache and hoping it turns into a trend.
I bought that spring thingy last time...no, it is straight from satan. So. Much. Pain.

Much. Pain. I've got very fine, light hair, so I can go weeks without shaving my legs and nobody will notice unless they touch my legs or see them with the sun shining right on the hair. Unfortunately that also means that my eyebrows are super light and not able to be seen really. No dimension to my face. Not sure which I would rather.

We sounds like the same person light brows, light lashes. I look sick if I don't use makeup to apply then.

I never knew ladies shaved their face. I had dark hair on my head, arms & legs but not on my face until menopause. I just plucked.
Now days, most hair is white. I don't have to shave my legs but once a week or less in winter. Chin hairs are white...looks like the eyebrows are going that way so may have to deal with that.
Now I'm looking at my almost 59 yo face in a magnifying mirror.
Lordy Lordy.
