I did at first until I realized they count 'likes' as well. Now, if it was just people quoting me, then I'd be thinking I'd ticked a lot of people off!
Not that I get a lot, either.

No, it makes me curious. I guess I might feel nervous if I'd gone out on a limb to say something offensive.

I tend to be more surprised than anything else. Kind of like Sally Fields "they like me, they really like me!" I am a dork.

Yes, I do, but they've only been good so far.
I'm more careful about what I say on this new board though, lol. Sometimes I'd post something on the old pea board and just never go back to that thread the next time I got on the computer. Now I know if someone quoted me and I have to look at it

It's because in pealand almost anything you say can be misinterpreted as offensive. So, yeah, I understand the initial reaction of "oh no!"

Something else: A couple times, I've opened the board to see that someone "liked" my post days after that particular thread slipped into assumed cyber-oblivion. Even though it's several pages down, at least one member is reading it for the first time.
Kinda' like putting a note in a bottle and throwing it in the sea - except you get a notification when someone happens upon it on the other shore.

I don't think I post controversial stuff. I try to post things that are supportive or funny to me usually. That is how I am usually. I do give my opinion, but know that we were all raised very differently and I totally respect that. I am open to new thinking.

Yes, all the time! What a relief when it's a "like" not a quote. I offended some a few weeks ago and felt so bad! Now, I sometimes write a response, then delete it if I feel I could upset someone. Don't want to go through the stress of a notification and the guilt that I offended someone (which is never my intention).

No, one of the first things I did was to go into my profile and turn them all off. The only thing I get a notification for now is a private message. The threads I am interested in keeping up with and reading new messages (like the book threads) I click on "participated" and read the new posts. Other threads, once I've contributed, I'm done...they can go on without me. If a few people click 'like", that's nice, but I have no particular need to know that.
