I don't drink soda now, it 's been almost two years since I drank my last diet coke. I never, ever drank regular coke , didn't 't like it as a child or teen.
But now? I drank one in June to see if it would stop this insidious craving. Oh my, it was so good. WTH??
Today I am drinking my second fountain coke and it's the bomb.
WHY?

If it were Pepsi, I'd say, "Because it's delicious!"

I never drink soda but once in a while - like once a year, if that - I do get a craving and it tastes so good going down. Then the craving eventually goes away. I'm not sure why that happens.

Because it's delicious and fun to drink.
Why are you beating yourself up for this? There is nothing wrong with an occasional soda. Or even a daily one.

There's just something about fountain sodas that make them better. It's like Muzak for your mouth - you just want to buy more!

If it were me, it would be because I am 1) pregnant and not drinking much caffeine, and 2)I now live in a place without soda fountains. I always crave what I can't have. LOL

Fountain Coke is seriously delicious. The stuff in the can or bottle is OK, but the fountain stuff is seriously crave-worthy! I get it.

I'm the same way - I rarely, if ever, drink pop (maybe a few times a year), but MAN does an occasional fountain Coke taste delicious. Jimmy John's has perfectly bubbly fountain drinks, but I'm definitely tempted to go try McDonald's now after reading this thread....thanks a lot

McDonalds coke is the best! It's ok to give in to a craving every now and then.

I have one every once in a while for the same reason. I just want one. It is usually when I am at the movies and eating popcorn. I just think of it like a treat or dessert.

Because it's the best thing ever? I'd pass up chocolate cake for fountain Coke. Have you tried what we call the Magic Coke machine where you can pick all your favorite added flavors? YUM! I love the lime Coke.
I keep my soda strictly limited to no more than 2 per week. I can't go totally soda free.

Did you know that the syrup McDonald's uses is mixed specially for them? So a fountain coke you get there won't taste like a fountain coke you get anywhere else.

I'm not beating myself up over it I just don 't understand it. Seriously, I never drank coke. Diet coke and Tab many years ago but never coke. I don't do artificial sweetners anymore. I tried La Croix drinks thinking it was the carbonation I was craving. Nope, blech. So I came to the pool to float away my cravings......

I don't know anything about special mixes at McDonald's, but I do enjoy my Coke from Mickey D's!

Their fries used to be cooked in beef lard but that practice was stopped many years ago. I don't know what they use now.

It's August- definitely coke season. We just got a jimmy johns nearby- good excuse to try it.
I didn't know that about McD formula, funny because that's one place I do not like Coke.

There is now an app for your phone and you can program in your specific Coke Freestyle (what those machines are called) recipe and then the touchscreen has a button to push and it will read your recipe from your phone and make your specific recipe for you. I love those machines.

Did you know that the syrup McDonald's uses is mixed specially for them? So a fountain coke you get there won't taste like a fountain coke you get anywhere else. I don't think this is true, I've been on a tour of McDonalds and the treatment of Coke is just different than in a normal restaurant. Usually syrup comes in a box and McDonalds does use these for things like orange drink and Dr pepper, less popular items, but they sell such a huge volume of Coke and diet Coke that the restaurant I toured had two giant stainless steel tanks of Coke syrup and one of diet Coke. I think its just fresher because they do more volume than most restaurants. While I think that machine that dispenses 100 flavors of soda including Coke is fun, I think it never tastes right because inevitably you get some random other syrup in whatever you're drinking. Also I did a quick google and it sounds like McDonalds has very strict policies about cleaning and calibrating their machines versus other restaurants. I do think McDonalds Coke its superior but I think its procedure and volume, not some magical syrup, or else if it was better than Coke why wouldn't coca Cola just use that as their recipe?
