Finally - and this is something I came to last night, after having a polite argument with my Republican husband over dinner, so I know it's not consistent with my rhetoric on this board of late - I think that we as a country need to stop treating every election like the potential end of the world. Our system is set up to move so glacially slowly that almost no elected official accomplishes anything these days. Even if the Supreme Court isn't stacked in your favor, you still live in the richest country in the world and enjoy the same basic freedoms you always have. We still live in the safest, healthiest, most free time in human history and that is not likely to change regardless of who is elected (and that goes for all of us in the developed world, not just the US). We have the luxury of sitting here and arguing over two political candidates, knowing that on November 8th, we will experience a free election, followed by a peaceful transfer of power in January. Some of us will gnash our teeth at the result, but we will do so in the safety and comfort of our own homes, knowing that no one is sending the army out to round up supporters of the opposition. There will be another election next year, and the year after that, and there will always be people in the world who HATE that we have that freedom and who are trying to attack us for it. I totally agree about not acting like every election is life or death. I admit I get as worked up as the next person but I remember thinking It would be terrible about Romney and McCain. I AM terrified that our history of peaceful transition is in jeopardy. Trump stoking fires about "election fraud" is reckless. Even republicans who are now trying to find creative ways to get rid of him seriously damage the credibility of fair elections. That really worries me. On the other hand, we don't all enjoy the same freedoms. The court has continued to limit freedoms in terms of 4th amendment rights. Trump is explicitly arguing that the freedom of Muslims be restricted to just name one thing. So the president matters a great deal and the cycle of fear begins again. Also, respectfully, no one hates us for our freedoms. Some people are murderous sociopaths and recruit others because the US is bombing, drone striking innocent people, and toppling legitimate governments with impunity.

Every single news organization which I read online broke with the story about the wikileaks and the transcripts last night. Every single one. It was also all over twitter in between posts showcasing the utter meltdown of the Republican party. And yet, no traction for the transcript story. Your self righteous indignation would be better spent reflecting why the reaction to the bazillionth attempt to create a faux scandal about Hillary Clinton no longer generates any interest from the American public except in the most partisan circles. gee, the 2 were mentioned together as being leaked. that's it. MSM hasn't touched the transcripts - they're all in for Clinton. We know that. Attack the repubs / ask Hillary who makes her pantsuits. that's what the left considers fair and balanced...
faux scandal? seems somewhere the emails were leaked that connect the WH to protecting HC from her email scandal. it's not that she's innocent, it's that the DOJ and FBI are in the pocket of the WH/DBO. That is worse to me than anything DT has said. the left is fighting hard to keep DT from winning because they support total control over our country by the left. the left calls crimes by the left 'faux scandals'.
it's no different now than when BO ran. the left supported anything he said or did and they're just moving on to HC now. the lie of the left is that no one supports convicting HC of her crimes - the American people do, that's been shown in the polls and support of DT.
If you think that, then you are delusional and detached.

As long as the Republican party wants to continue to push legislation regarding women's uteruses, what goes on in our bedrooms, cling to their guns and try to push their "Christian values" on to everyone else, then I'll have to disagree. If they want to drop their out of touch and archaic social stances, come into the 21st century and concentrate more on fiscal issues, then I'll agree with you.

Holy smokes. I've got Face the Nation on while getting ready for church, & they were having a group interview of probably 20ish people, very diverse group. The last question the guy asked was if you were stranded on the road, who would you rather have come by - Clinton or Trump. More people raised their hands for Trump. Interviewer asked a woman why she'd prefer Trump & she said "Well, he likes women". She then elaborated that even though he's not likely to know how to change a tire or pop the hood, he'd be very generous in calling a tow, etc. WTH. Has she not been reading/watching the same stuff I have? I'd be worried about my safety, big-time. That is scary but confirms what I have suspected. There are a lot of uninformed people with no clue, out there that live in a fantasty world. They know the name Trump because he was on a movie star on tv and because his name is on buildings, he must be a great business man. I have to ask, did the interviewer bust out laughing when the woman said that Trump likes women? SMH. It is one thing if a person has made a decision based on careful research and consideration, but to vote blindly based on name recognition or party affliation is disturbing. I am assuming that is what this woman is doing since there is clear evidence out there that Trump does not care for women except for what he can use them for.

You know, I assumed they had discussed the recent recordings earlier in the conversation, but maybe it was pre-recorded. I hadn't considered that. Still leaves me scratching my head though.

Trump likes to use Twitter to let us know what he thinks and how he feels. If one believed what he said in his 90 second video that he had indeed changed from that Trump of 2005 one would think he would have reinforced that sentiment on Twitter.
Someone "shared" this Trump current tweets on my timeline.
" So many self-righteous hypocrites. Watch their poll numbers - and elections - go down!"
I checked and his other tweets are pretty much the same. However he got excited that some poll has him ahead by 2%.
Not one tweet saying that he was wrong in what he said in 2005.
Tonight's debate should be interesting.

Sooooo CNN released audio conversations Trump has had with Howard Stern over a number of years. They start the written part of the story with this warning" Warning this story contains graphic language". How nice to read that type of warning about a man who is running for president. Full disclosure I did not read or listen to the entire story because I find it just downright disgusting. But this one part appeared on my twitter feed and I think it says a lot about the character of the man. That it's his "right" to walk in and stare at naked women at the Miss Universe Contest. "Well, I'll tell you the funniest that before a show, I'll go backstage and everyone is getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I'm allowed to go in because I'm the owner of the pageant and therefore I'm inspecting it." Trump said. " You know I'm inspecting because I want to make sure everything is good." " You know, the dresses, "Is everyone ok?" You know they're standing there with no clothes, "Is everything ok?". And you see these incredible looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that. But no I've been very good." he added."

I wasn't even born when Kennedy was president and he sure as heck isn't running for president right now. So that is ridiculous.
Trump was in his late 50s when he talked about assaulting a woman. To me using a phrase like grabbing their pussies is just so utterly low class and low rent-vulgar. Attempts to compare what is factual vs the hypothetical discussion of dead presidents in the 60s makes no sense. no, it isn't ridiculous. don't think for a minute that talk like that doesn't go on between the men in DBO's admin. People thought JFK was wonderful, same with Ted K - they covered up his involvement with MaryJo k yrs back. those cover ups continue - all around those on the left including HC, Reid, Pelosi, Kerry, even Kaine.
that you weren't born yet, doesn't erase it.
I never said it erases it, but questioning someone supporting Hillary about the actions of Kennedy is indeed ridiculous. IMO.

Since when did the behavior of one person become an excuse that you can do it as well?
I mean if anyone defending Obama on the "I hate Obama" threads on this board ever suggested Bush did it as well we got slapped around pretty good.
Silly me I didn't think Trump could drag this election any lower.
What a pig.
Edited to add. Trump insulted the "Clinton accusers" when he was best buds with Bill. And now he is using them to valid his behavior. What a guy.

So apparently Trump says if Clinton would have had a affair with a beautiful woman, it would have been more acceptable. See Bill, there's where you went wrong. Had she been (according to Trump's standards) a beautiful sophisticated woman, it would have Aok.....Alrighty then.

I watched that clip. I am sickened that this asshole would stoop so low. This is a debate for the position of the most honored post in our country. He brings women from 20 years ago that allegedly had affairs with a man that isn't even running. I am appalled that this election process has come to this. We must be such a laughing stock to other countries. I'm so embarrassed for the United States of America.

Someone needs to send this transcript to Anderson STAT and confront asshole with this at the debate. Omg. The hypocrisy of this man blows my mind. Excuse me while I pour a really really stiff cocktail before watching this shit show.

So Trump. Jr weighted in on the comments made by his old man on the bus. It's becoming clear the apple doesn't fall from the tree when it comes to Trump and his sons. Trump Jr said the kind of talk on the bus goes on alllll the time with men and people are glad to see his dad is just a regular guy......... Well ok.

Those two "men" give off the same creep factor vibe as Daddy. Don Jr kills beautiful animals in Africa for sport. Eric, while not in the spotlight as much until now, looks like a smarmy, typical rich kid. You know the type - "I can do what I want because Dad will always back me up and bail me out"
