Well y'all, I'm gonna say bye-bye to some of you. I have deleted some so called 'friends' over time, due to their way of doing things. Now I'm watching the ones who will have the time to read this post until the end. This is a little test, just to see who reads and who shares without reading! I STAND UP TO CANCER I read that exact post from one of my friends right before I came over here tonight. It was also someone who doesn't normally post stuff like that, so it surprised me enough that I read the whole thing. I hate them too. I don't appreciate the attempt to manipulate me. Kristin, I wonder if we have a 6 degrees of separation thing going on between us, as we both saw the same post. |

My SIL posts things like that all.the.time. Drives me bonkers.
I ignore them. I feel a *little* bad about doing so because she's got a HUGE case of 'nobody understands me or loves me as much as I love them' going on, but I just refuse to feed her crazy. Her expectations are pretty high, I think. She doesn't just have a birthDAY, she has a birthday WEEK. One year, BIL took her on a week-long trip to California for her b-day. When they got back, she had a complete meltdown because he didn't arrange a huge restaurant birthday dinner with all of her friends.
She called me all crying and despondent. I was like, girl. Your house is in foreclosure and your husband still made your dream trip possible. You're going to have a fit over a DINNER you didn't get?
Still boggles.

I KNOW I should just scroll past those posts (fortunately they don't pop up often, but I see them more in Pinktober), but if I'm in a particularly snarky mood that day, I have been known to post something along the lines of "cancer doesn't know if you take a stand against it or not. Posting this crap won't do shit for survival rates, donate and do something useful instead"  And don't get me started on "awareness"!!!!! |

So far this week I have raised my friends awareness of issues surrounding cancer, austism and mental health by liking and sharing such messages. I am actively saving the planet by posting a picture of a dead bee on all my friends timelines. I consider myself politically active by liking every meme that denounces Donald Trump (doesn't matter that I don't live in the USA) and changing my profile picture to a rainbow to support gay marriage reform in Australian.
Bloody heck - I mean come on. I work full time. I don't have time to actually do anything like, oh I don't know, fund raising, volunteering, attending events. I'll leave that for all those stay at home Mums who do nothing but meet for coffee and playdates all day.
It shits me to tears that people would find my actions annoying. They should just get a life!!!!

The other ones that bug me are "I am a pink unicorn" for whatever cause i.e. breast cancer. I can now spot them a mile away and hide them, too. Do you know the ones i mean?

I ignore them. Half the time I couldn't give two hoots about the 'cause' in any case. If I changed my status 'just for one hour' as a response to every one of these that I get, I would never get anything else done.
Neither do I respond to these daft games in support of some cause or other, where you post something daft, and then all those who reply with an 'eh?' receive a message telling them that they are now in the game and 'have to' post something similar. How the flaming heck does this help any cause?

It all annoys me, I ignore them all, and am yet to be unfriended by anyone for not sharing or liking. It's emotional blackmail and I refuse to pay.
Same with vague booking - a total attention seeking exercise that I hate, and will not reply to. If you can't say what's wrong in your post, don't expect me to pry it out of you.

I hate them as well and do not participate. You know what else makes me crazy on Facebook? NO ONE is going to give you a house, car, jeep, cruise, 4-wheeler, RV, etc... it you post "done" and copy it to your wall!!! I have so many friends doing this! |

I hate them, too. Especially all the ones that say, "95% of people won't share this." Even if you have a worthy cause, as soon as I see that phrase I stop reading. So far I have restrained myself from commenting on how stupid I think they are, but one day....
