"What did liberals do that was so offensive to the Republican Party?
I’ll tell you what they did. Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act.
What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things, every one. So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, ‘Liberal,’ as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won’t work, because I will pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge of honor."
attributed to Lawrence O'Donnell, but taken almost word for word from dialogue written for a West Wing character in 2005
This statement speaks for me too. Liberal is a label I wear with honor and pride!

I saw this and have no clue the legitimacy of it all (I'm far removed from Government AP in high school), but it wouldn't shock me. It reminds me so much of the opposition against the Affordable Care Act. The Republican platform opposed it because it wouldn't be a clean fix, but never offered an alternative option. It's easy to judge someone putting their neck out there at least making an attempt to fix a nationwide problem than it is to actually to be part of making an effort to fix said problem.

Sorry, but I don't take the Benghazi and the emails so lightly as you seem to....Liberals have done some great things for this country, but it does NOT excuse the wrongdoings done in Benghazi and the emails (both were criminal acts).....

Umm republicans were critical for the vast majority of those things to pass and in some cases lead the effort. I will grant that the Republican Party has changed dramatically over time - but this phrasing in particular - what have liberals done that is offensive to Republicans and rattling off a bunch of historic things that were passed with Republicans is just historically inaccurate.

How is it historically inaccurate? She didn't identify a party. She said 'liberal'. Currently the term liberal is frequently used as an negative epithet. Like it is a very bad to be a liberal.

Liberals have aligned with different parties over the decades. Currently most liberals align with the Democrats. And the Republican party thinks labeling someone a liberal is a put down.

I don't disagree with this - but again the OP said what did liberals due that is offensive to the Republican Party - and then listed items that involved Republicans - perhaps it should have been what happened to the liberals in the Republican Party?

Perhaps the word you really want is moderate?
But either way divisive labels and finger pointing on both sides is getting us all no where. It produced the least appealing candidates I've ever seen. An election least about the issues than any other. And has damaged the image of both parties.
I do think the list in the OP is misleading at least, considering the Democratic Party objected to over half of those in their 'official' stances.
Im sorry your frustrated by the labeling and finger pointing. It really happens for both parties, it leaves the majority of us (moderate of either side or independent ) out and feeling U represented. I don't think pot stirring pundits on either fringe and the media time they get has helped our nation in anyway. And the mudslinging inaccurate commercials of the special interest groups has exacerbated the issue. Throw in the few asshat candidates we have had on both sides and this is what you get.

I think what she means more is conservative? Technically, a Republican president freed the slaves, but at the time, Republicans were what Democrats are today. The bottom line is 'liberal' isn't a dirty word and is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. It's been a case of GOP marketing that has pushed the idea that liberals want everything given to them and for everyone else to pay for it. Kind of like Q-Tip is a cotton swab, but not all cotton swabs are Q-Tips...but over time, Q-tip has become the term to identify all cotton swabs. So maybe there are a few liberals who are out to milk the system with no input of their own, and while it certainly doesn't define all or even most of us, it has become an incorrect blanket idea that that is what all liberals believe by the Republicans of today.

This fails to recognize the huge party shift/reversal that took place in the 60's around Civil Rights. anytime you refer to liberals prior to 1950 you are pretty much talking about the Republican party ie the party of Lincoln. Using the word liberal is correct - it amazes me that those behind the Trump candidacy say they want change and it is the Dems this time around who don't want to privatize and dismantle government. We are evolving again and I guess we always will at the pace of turning a ship.

Lawrence O'Donnell was a scriptwriter on West Wing. That's probably why the quotation is attributed to him.

She has been cleared of any wrongdoing in Benghazi in investigation after investigation by Republicans, but still you people push this narrative. Please, if you have one iota of evidence that she did something criminal with regards to Benghazi, or even that she could have done something different to save those men (evidence, not gossip), please produce it. If it's something generic like "more security," please also include the reasons that you aren't concerned about the many dozens of people killed during embassy attacks under the Bush administration. Thank you. She was also cleared in the email situation, but at least I can see some differences of opinion in that one. But the accusation of criminal wrongdoing involving Benghazi is completely unsupportable.

For those who are worried about impending violence at the polls or a civil war breaking out over the election, I can hardly see how something like this does anything but foment anger and divisiveness.

Benghazi--HRC, after a long ass (republican held) congressional hearing was found NOT TO BE AT FAULT. It is horrible that 4 people died. Emails---again, NO CRIMINAL CHARGES.

I say this tongue in cheek but there could be something to this.
The Republicans have never forgiven the Democrats for not having scandals on the same level as Watergate and Iran Contra.
The Democrats have been on their radar ever since and it was about that time the Republicans dropped the word "compromise" from their vocabulary.

Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. Actually, American conservatives used to hold environmental protection dear. Back when it was called "conservation." But not just infamously, like Teddy Roosevelt. Guys like Barry Goldwater...Richard Nixon. Reagan and GHW Bush, kinda'. The emergence of the (human cause for) climate change deniers and drill-baby-drill advocates is a relatively new phenomenon within conservative ideology.
