I'm sorry for the late thread. I had typed one out earlier and I must not have hit Create Thread. I'm very loopy. BTW-I am not trying to hide the problem that landed me at Club Med, but it's not dinner conversation. It's not a secret, but it is icky. Trust me. Thank you so much to those of you who were responsible for the cute pumpkin and lovely card that dh found on our doorstep. I'm overwhelmed w/gratitude and a big grin. What a thoughtful and sweet gift. THANK YOU! I'm going back to bed to sleep and recover, but I want to make sure that you have your dinner home today. What's on your menu? Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Soup. From a can. Yea, been battling a migrain for 3 days now. Been a long week. Ds decided to swallow a coin (from the size on the xray either a penny or nickle) so spent a good time at urgent care, dd has been full of teen tude this week and had 4 stinkin tests, and we adopted a new shih tzu (pics this weekend). So my week has been crazy.
There are 4 different soups to pick from. Dd will have her gf df hot dog, fruit, and chips. Ds of course his EleCare Jr formula.

Tonight we have a volleyball tournament game at 7:30, have to there at 7. We will probably have some leftovers or I'll make grilled cheese. The soup I made yesterday was good. But it did have too much Thyme. I read the recipe and it asked for a Tblsp of FRESH thyme, I have only dried. I dropped it in the pot and was like oh #!^&! I got out as much as I could (luckily I did not stir it yet) but there was still too much. Glad you are home and sleeping it off. Take care of yourself, scrapmaven.

Hope this next week is calmer for your family! The rain is kinda back (grey and drizzly out) so I think I'm going to make meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Yay! For happy surprises on your door step from friends! I honestly am not sure about dinner yet. I have finally thrown in the painting towel for at least a little bit, but now am working to put the rooms back together. Rumor has it the younger boy is home for the weekend-he mentioned it, but his phone is broken so I haven't heard it for sure-although I just got a voice mail from his favorite haircut girl that he has an appointment this weekend, so I guess he will get here eventually. Dinner is entirely dependent on whether or not his butt will be in a chair around my table. If not, then I keep working and eat on the fly. If so, a bit more...effort...will be put into food.

I had plans to make a chicken chow mein stir fry and then realized it will only be two for dinner, so I'm not sure if I'll stick to that plan or suggest sushi to DH.

Turned out last night there was enough chicken for my smaller-than-usual pot of soup. So I was not forced to open the canned chicken after all. What's more, I just now realized that after adding all my stuff to the soup ... I didn't even notice a taste difference between the homemade stock I usually use, and the boxed stock I did use. Today I have Italian beef going in the Ninja. I guess we (whoever is around this weekend) will probably be eating it all weekend. Feel better, scrapmaven. So glad you received a pea gift.

Clean out the fridge before putting out the garbage night for us - Hubby had bratwurst. I had leftover sloppy joes. Wasn't exactly what either one of us wanted but we are full.

Glad you're home scrapmaven - feel better quick! Not.a.clue what else is for dinner. DH had a craving for spinach salad so picked up some spinach on his way home from running errands so there's that. What we'll have with it, he didn't say. Guess that's for me to decide. So, if left up to me, it'll be soup and salad, maybe with some crusty bread and fruit for dessert.

@calimom2 and scrapmaven: feel better soon Dinner was crunchy chicken in pita (and salad, tomato etc etc). DS complained because there wasn't any cheese, DH complained over the lack of sour cream and DD complained since the pita breads were too hot. I'm seriously considering to go on strike!!

I am about to shuffle into the kitchen and make that Beef Stroganoff that I was supposed to make yesterday. The comfort of this couch will not hold me down...for no more than five more minutes. Ten more minutes tops! Then I'll go provide sustenance to my menfolk with the bottomless pit bellies.
Update: I stayed on the couch for fifteen more minutes then decided "Forget that Beef Stroganoff!" I made Cheeseburgers, Paprika Fries, Side Salad and Cantaloupe for our dessert. My guys are doing all the cleanup right now so I can go back and enjoy the comfort of my couch and fuzzy blanket. 😍

I'm glad you're home scrapmaven, take care xx
Friday night would usually be Fish and Chip night (or sausage in bread night during cricket season). Cricket was called off due to rain so I was kinda hoping DSO would suggest fish & chips even though I am dieting. Luckily for my waistline he decided to cook fish at home. I had a lovely piece of salmon with steamed vegies, the others had crumbed whiting with wedges and potato gems. I admit that I snuck a few potato gems, I couldn't resist.

I missed you all last night, as we went out to a wine tasting. Really good, and I think DH has ordered rather a lot to be delivered to us in the next couple of weeks. After we'd finished with that, we had planned to go to the Bavarian restaurant downstairs from the tasting venue, as we did last year, but we passed a new Asian restaurant on the walk from the train, so we decided to go their instead. We had a mixed platter for starters, then DH had a duck curry and I had a prawn curry - both delicious!
As so many of you have commented on my dear SiL, I am glad that I can bring you a positive update. Yesterday she had surgery to drain a cyst full of infection in the brain. This morning when my brother went in to visit her, she was sitting up and smiling. Headache nearly completely gone, and she is much more coherent. She will have to stay in the specialist hospital for a week or so, before being transferred back to her local hospital until she is completely well, but this is so much better than things were looking a few days ago.
