How bad were your lines this morning? I have a lot of friends who live in PA and VA, and they have had insanely long waits to vote this morning per Facebook.
I remember how bad it was back in 2004 and 2008 in VA, and I have to say I am so thankful that WV has early voting! In 2004, I barely made it inside the doors of the polling place before the 7:00 closing time, and I had been in line for a couple of hours. There was quite an uproar because there were still hundreds of people still lined up outside the library waiting to vote. IIRC, the police closed the parking lot and did not allow anyone else to get in line, but everyone who was already in line was allowed to vote.
According to our newspaper, over 30% of all registered voters in my county had voted by Saturday, Nov. 5. I can remember when a 30% total voter turnout was pretty normal, and we still have the polls open today.

No early voting here. From what I hear from coworkers and could see as I passed one polling place on the way to work, the lines were about an hour long by 7:30. Voting takes place 7am-7pm in our town. It's already died down some according to a town FB site, but will pick up again before 5pm. DH and I are going after work. As long as you are in line before 7pm you must be allowed to vote.

I voted early - around 7:15 AM - I think I was the 60th voter at my polling place. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

We haven't been yet. We decided to wait until about 1 or 2 to go so we miss the morning crowd and avoid the after work bunch.

We don't have early voting. I left home at 7:15 this morning, and I left the polling place at 7:55. I didn't notice what time I arrived there, but it was probably about 7:20.
When I got there, the line was snaked around the outside of the building (in the rain), and it looked a little intimidating. Several thoughtful people brought extra umbrellas and others got to the entrance to the building then looked for someone who could use their umbrella until they got to the front of the line. However, when I got inside, I discovered that there was plenty of room inside the building, so I conspired with the people around me to "turn" the line so that more people could get in the building. When all was said and done, no one was left in the rain.

I heard they were very bad across my area when the polls opened at 7 a.m. We went at around 9 a.m. and there was a semi-long line, but we were in and out in just under an hour. Much better than 2008-we were in line almost 3 hours for that one. One of the signs posted just outside the room where the voting machines were said that there was a 3 minute time limit to vote. My suggestion would have been to have more machines, since there were only 5 of them at my polling place-fewest I've ever seen, which makes no sense. Early turnout was heavy across the country. It's not like they couldn't anticipate a heavy turnout. It's silly enough that we don't have any early voting and heavy restrictions on absentee. It makes no sense at all to me that all states aren't doing voting by mail at this point.

Ours opened at 6, people on facebook who got there at 5:30 (this is all AM) said the lines were already wrapped around the building and into the parking lot. I waited over an hour and 20 minutes this morning. I'm hoping those who wait and go over lunch will have an easier time of it.

Ours opened at 6 and I got there around 7:45. I saw the line out the door. However, I discovered the long line was for last names M-Z. The line for A-L (which is me) was only two people deep! Odd. So I was able to breeze in and out quickly.

MI doesn't allow early voting but I was in and out in 15 minutes. Didn't go until 10 figuring the early morning before work crowd would be gone by then. I was only voter 235 in my precinct. I was surprised because my number was so low 3 hours after voting started.

I was only voter 235 in my precinct. How do you know you were 235? Was on the ballot after it was cast?

I was only voter 235 in my precinct. How do you know you were 235? Was on the ballot after it was cast? No, our ballots are paper and we feed them into a machine that counts each ballot as it is fed in. When it took mine it changed from 234, who was my son, to 235, me.

We have early voting here but my DH is a strict 'vote on election day' kind of guy. He was there before the doors opened (7am) and it took him 2 hours.

When it took mine it changed from 234, who was my son, to 235, me. That makes sense. Ours are electronic machines and when you are done, you have to hit the print ballot button on the screen about 4 times. It's printed on what looks like a receipt you'd get at the store, but it stays inside the machine. There's a plastic cover over the paper. You just walk away from the machine.

There were two people in front of me this morning in Fairfax County (VA). I'll go back and take my mom to vote later today and see then too.

I voted at 7am this morning, there was no line outside, and it was not crowded, but maybe 30 to 25 people, in various stages of the voting process.
All told, maybe 5 minutes. That is why I go before work. I want to get it over with.

I'm in SC. We do not have early voting, but we do have in-person absentee voting.
When I arrived at my polling place, there were only two people in front of me at the check-in table. I was shocked! I was prepared to be in line for over an hour, which is what I experienced in previous presidential elections.

No early voting here, but I didn't have any wait to speak of. I went at 8:30 this morning - I was 3rd in line and I was the 229th voter of the day.
I just got back from taking my Mother-in-law - there were about 10 people in line ahead of her.

I voted at 11:30, and was number 385ish out of 850ish registered in my precinct, which to me seems like a healthy turnout for being fairly early in the day. I breezed in and out of there in 5 minutes.

No early voting in NY. I live in a small town. I was voter #51 at 7:45 this morning, I always go early before I run errands, so I'm not sure if there's ever a line later in the day. Voting in NY ís from 6am-9pm.

We do have early voting here, but I'm on-the-day kind of girl. My boss waited 45 last week, and it took me about 20 minutes this morning. Moved right along, no problems and very pleasant.

We don't have early voting here so my family goes together on our way to work. Got there around 7:30 with plenty of people there, but no lines to get a ballot. In and out in 5 minutes or so, I was #59 and that was pretty good considering they'd only been open 30 minutes and it's a small precinct.

I went late morning to avoid lines, there were only about ten people ahead of me and I was in and out in less than ten minutes. But I was surprised to see about 760 people had already voted at my polling place (it tells you on the scanning machine when you put in your ballot.) We don't ever have super long lines, at least not when I go. It's probably different before and after work hours. My husband is taking off work a little early to go vote.

We want at 11 - 3 people in front of me on being my husband. So not bad BUT the lot was full and I've never seen it full in the middle of the day before.

I am in PA and will go to vote when the kids get home from school so they can go too. We usually don't have long lines, so I hope they aren't too long.

I was starting to long for going to a polling place until I read this thread, lol. We vote by mail. I vote a week ago. It's very boring voting this way but it is convenient. I'm in WA state. When I lived in CA I remember going to vote. Then we had to vote absentee a few times because my DH was military and we were stationed overseas.
